Initially, she had found it hard to agree with her father. "You haven't made as much progress as you wanted these last few months. Come back to Manhattan and study." her father had said to her. She was 21. She could decide where she went in life, but when her father offered to pay for a one year business course, she thought it rude to turn it down.
She had weighed up her options. She could either stay in Ponyville and attempt to continue her mediocre business, or she could return home, study for a year and return to Ponyville with a new, well prepared, plan for success. She chose the latter option. Although, it would absolutely cripple her social standings in Ponyville, she viewed the free education as something that she would regret not taking up later on.
Now she stood, a year later, back where her Ponyville life had started, at the good ol' railway station. She thought about her past life. She wondered if her friends would still remember her. She wondered if her friends still lived here. Deciding to assume the worst, that all of her friends moved away, she mentally prepared herself to claw back into the Ponyville social ladder.
The normally social pony hadn't made any friends in Manehatten and the adventure that lied ahead of her seemed daunting. She was certain that she had grown as an individual. She felt more mature than her younger self and she felt a new drive to re-assert herself into town life.
A second later, that drive vanished with the realisation that she would probably just put it off. 'Do it later' she knew she would mutter to herself. 'Nope.' she thought. She would make more friends. Try again. Fresh start.
She made the decision to befriend the very next pony she came across. She searched the platform and it yielded three figures, she couldn't tell who they were due to glare from the sun.
