List of OC Application rules
This list of rules was desperately needed, and I hope it helps with creating your own characters. Please let me know if you have any questions!
That looks pretty good for now. I'll add more when I think of them, or if I get any new suggestions. Feel free to ask questions if you have any. Thanks for reading!
This list of rules was desperately needed, and I hope it helps with creating your own characters. Please let me know if you have any questions!
.) No 'dark' or 'emo' characters. This is a My Little Pony roleplay, NOT a 'this is why my life sucks, pity me' roleplay. It's okay to have slightly emotional characters, but nothing too dark such as horrible pasts or ponies with mental problems. It's annoying, and does not belong in this universe. Ponies who are angry all the time aren't really wanted here either. Anyone who has a past darker than Pinkie Pie's is unacceptable.
.) Please have a decent amount of likes, dislikes, strengths and weaknesses for your ponies. And the Overall Persona should be a nice long detailed paragraph or two. Even more if you want to include a backstory - we encourage that!
.) No relationships or being related to official, background or even other original characters without their player's direct permission.
.) Please don't have your occupation in a place that a canon character already works at, unless given permission by the roleplayer who controls the canon character i.e Sugarcube Corner, Ponyville library, Carousel Boutique etc. etc.
.) If you're waiting for a character to be accepted, please don't create a dozen more during. Do you know how annoying that is for mods?
.) On that note, don't whine at/about or constantly nag staff while you're waiting. We all have lives, believe it or not, and it's also extremely irritating.
.) Do NOT use an image that wasn't drawn by you, unless you have proof that the artist drew it for you or said you could use it. We do NOT want any art theft here, for the sake of respecting the artists and not getting the site in trouble.
.) No inappropriate names or occupations or anything. We're sticking to the same rating as the show, so you're expected to do the same.
.) We appreciate use of different species on the boards. For more information what species you can and can't use, we have a list for that. But know that your original characters have to be ponies, as a lot of these species are for more trusted players.
.) Respect the staff and their judgement of your character. Any whining or back chat will get you into trouble. They're only doing their job, and you'd better do as they ask you.
.) Do NOT post on someone else's bio. Only staff and the character's owner may comment. We have the right to delete your post if you break this rule.
.) Use the correct coding and app layout. It was made specifically to be read easily, and once it's messed up.. it isn't so easy to read. And on that note, try and fill EVERY category, and with good readable grammar.
.) All background characters without official names are to be created here. Please check the background character log for more information.
.) No Mary Sues or Gary Stus. Do NOT make your character a special snowflake, who are as fast as Rainbow Dash, more magically talented than Twilight and as beautiful as Rarity, while being some sort of amazing hero who saved the world. Be ORIGINAL, and give your character realistic strengths and flaws.
.) Keep your characters ORIGINAL - do NOT steal anyone else's ideas or designs!
.) No religious characters, or characters with spiritual connections i.e connections to other animals. Shamans like Zecora are fine, as are fortune tellers, but don't take it too far. Make sure the creature you play acts like the creature you play.
.) And the most important rule - if it wouldn't be in the show, then it won't work on the site. We try to be as canon as possible, and the character needs to fit in with the style of the show. No particularly mean or rude characters, unless they're intentional antagonists - which we're wary of because it still needs to work with the style. Nothing that you wouldn't see in the kid-friendly and happy mood of the show.
.) More than one staff member can comment on an app if any other staff members feel anything has been missed out.
.) Concerning unicorns with damaged or broken horns, it's been decided that its okay if you want to have your character's horn be broken. But there are limitations. Because the horn is basically the channeling method for the magic, a broken one would mean there is little to no control over a spell. Spells would miss, back fire or straight up not do what you wanted.
.) Please don't add an official character's name in your app, and don't compare your character to other characters. Saying you're character is "like Fluttershy" or is "nothing like Applejack" simply isn't allowed. This is your character, and you shouldn't feel the need to compare it.
.) Due to canon issues, we cannot permit any character to live in the Everfree forest. It has been shown to be a wild and dangerous place that ponies have not been able to tame. There may be exceptions to this rule but this is not to be relied on.
That looks pretty good for now. I'll add more when I think of them, or if I get any new suggestions. Feel free to ask questions if you have any. Thanks for reading!
