Personality:
Arabesque is a friendly, gentle, and well-brought mare which like to receive the respect she give. She likes helping others when she can, even if like Ashti she prefere the moral support. Professional and passionate, she take her job seriously and respect her duties. And as other Deeraim she follow the "Sandlandic Faith", a national concept about respect and honour.
She is gentle, but neither naive or weak. The physical strength she doesn't have, she holds it in her mind : I mean, she have a strong mind able to overcome any difficulties along Ashti. Her love for him is infinite as the sand and never she would let him down, him or any friends. However she is realist and have a critical mind which moderates her.
Once the Dalai Llama came in Deerham and she was his discipline during his visit : with him she learned to never let bad feeling entering her heart and lead her. and she tries to apply this every time... with more or less of success. But if now her heart is appeased, it was not always the case... at least before she revealed her love to Ashti.
She deeply respects her adoptive father, as everyone she meets. Arabesque is a blank flank, she never succeeded to find her talent... But she doesn't really care about because as Deerham is a place full of deers and camel and therefore don't have cutie marks, she never thought it important. Although she had a kind of rivalry with Ashti when he received his cutie mark -a bit jealous but also genuinely happy for him- She however remains a bit complexed when she travels in Equestria, but she doesn't feel shameful because she know that, even if she is a blanc flank, she have succeed in life....
There is more important to her than her cutie mark and she knows it. Her life is peaceful and she is happy, plus she is married to the one she loves and considers the most. Even if one day she would find her talent, she thinks that she would no mind, as long it doesn't erase the tattoo on her flank which is her Deerean citizenship and have much more meaning than a pictogram. Plus she know that Ashti love her and doesn't care/mind about her lack of cutie mark..
History:
When she was two years old (supposed), she has been found by Salim -a self-exiled Cloudstales magnate-, sobbing, alone in the street of Marezâr-e Shârif, a city of Afghaneighstan which was into a conflict for its independence at this time. To save her, he took the filly with him in Deerham.
Here, she has been raised and loved by Salim, which named her and educated the mare to make her a woman of the world, a gentlemare. She learned the Deerhai as her first language and when she was older, Salim taught her the Equestrian. But even if she was loved, Arabesque was the only pony here which made her feel a bit lonely… until that, when she was 8 years old, Salim bring back a young foal that he brought up : Ashti.
Arabesque directly adopted Ashti and befriended him, helping the still shocked unicorn to have lost his parents. She always been kind with her "little bro" and with age, her affection became love –even if she was unaware of this-. Despite a little –but friendly and wholesome- reality between them, they cared to each other. Like when Arabesque became sick, and Ashti, despite the sandstorm, go in Camelu to find the cure, braving his fear to save his adoptive sister. Both were very very close and dear to each other.
Unlike Ashti, she didn't have a personal teacher and went in the academy, the only school of Deerham. She was a good student and finished her studies with the approbation of her teachers and an insignia (Deerham don't use medals as reward, they use a system of insignias), token of her good work and find a job as archivist in the Deerean public library.
One day she meet a stag called Saiyad, accompanied by a young doe : Gaïkah… in entering inside them with noticed them, distracted. But despite the apologies of Arabesque, It created a strife between the mare and Saiyad, both having proud and strong personality. However Ashti came and tried to fix it with diplomacy… it doesn't really succeeded, then under the stubbornness of Saiyad, Ashti hit him… and won his cutie mark. After that Ashti, Saiyad, Arabesque and Gaïkah were becoming friends, and Saiyad apologised.
With time, and feeling that Ashti was not really attentive of her charm, she had a unwanted crush on Saiyad, and his courting. She was 17 and him 18, and even thought to getting married, Ashti even gave to Arabesque a wedding gift, an ancient amulet… which will turn Arabesque into the Bearer of Raghba, the Djinn of love. But, for some –personal- reasons, Saiyad broke off with Arabesque, broking then her heart and feelings.
She then erased her sorrow into work… however during this period she always had Ashti to help her, to support her. And it required several months for the Archivist to recover from her sorrow. The kindness of Ashti reinforcing her love for the Ambassador. Although she remained quite unadventurous with her feelings, and she learned to tame them… more or less, in becoming the honorary disciple of the Dalai Llama, when he paid in visit in Deerham. She cleaned her heart and knew that Ashti was her true love.
When Ashti became Ambassador, a year after coming in Deerham, Arabesque decided to paid him a visit and both spend a week together… even if some issues occurred as the falling of arabesque (airship maintenance), or the kidnapping of Ashti … and it was during this event that she decided to overcome her fear to be rejected and declared her love to Ashti, to save him… A year later, they were getting married after Ashti, Saiyad and her saved Deerham.
In some way, she is the adoptive sister or mother of Finder (The Bearer of silim, Djinn of medecine when this one was took in by Ashti but unable to bring Finder to Equestria. Then she spends the five months until Ashti return, to raise Finder and learn him, via rughba, to master his Djinn's Amulet..
