Likes:
Causing Mischief: Playing tricks on other ponies is something that brings Switch Overhand great pleasure. Anything from small pranks to cruel tricks, messing with ponies is what he focuses most of his energy on. He relishes in both the execution and the results of these plans. He puts a lot of effort into all his schemes and are often carried out with spectacular success.
The thrill of the chase: Something Switch loves just as much as causing chaos is being caught and escaping. Bolting around back streets and giving his persuers the slip fills him with glee. The more difficult the escape, the more of a rush he gets from it.
Magic tricks and illusions: The ability to deceive ponies and sneak items around freely is a skill that Switch greatly admires and is glad to have. Watching or creating a performance of non unicorn magic is a delight he loves to partake in, and the experience is heightened when he can't figure out how it was done, although this happens rarely.
Surprising ponies: Whether it be through his tricks or his performances of sleight, Switch delights in inciting surprise and amazement from his audiences. This is especially true in the case of Canterlot unicorns who think they know everything, their faces are always priceless.
Dislikes:
His job: Switch views his job as one of the worst punishments he has ever suffered through. The dull, monotonous nature of work as a mail pony is completely opposed to him. Unfortunately, due to his lack of talent in most areas, and having upset many ponies through his escapades, it was the only job that would accept him.
Order: It is a plain fact that Switch dislikes the regular order and progression of day to day life. Whenever he can he will disrupt order, cause a cufuful, or spice up a boring activity, he will, often in spectacular fashion.
Staying still: Along with his dislike of order, Switch struggles to cope with a lack of activity. Staying in one place or waiting in line is not a fun experience for him, so he disrupts and distracts to keep himself happy.
Consequences: Given that he enjoys causing trouble, it shouldn't be much surprise that Switch doesn't enjoy having to answer for his actions. For the most part he isn't caught, and can often get off Scott free with his quick wit, but when he does get a sharp telling off and has to clear up his messes he is less than content.
Motivation:
If you were to ask him, Switch would tell you that he just did things for the sake of it. In reality, the reason is that you he craves attention, wants to stand out. It's because of this that he hates his unimportant job, likes to cause mischief and loves getting a reaction from it.
Strengths:
Agility: Despite his scrawny nature, Switch is very fast and agile. This has come about from the repeated occurrence of what he would call 'daring' escapes. With ease he can balance in trees, run across rooftops and navigate the thinnest, windiest streets.
Action planning: Because of the amount of time and effort he puts into his plans, Switch has developed an extremely efficient and fine tuned ability to plan complex, showy trick and then execute it with great success. Unfortunately, this skill is somewhat limited to action, and rarely translates to day to day life.
Quick witted: Two skills he has had all his life is a very quick wit and a slippery silver tongue. These have served him well getting in and out of mischief, as well as getting his own way. However his headstrong mindset and lack of restriction with these skills have caused him just as many problems as the have gotten him out of.
Sleight of hoof: As mentioned earlier, Switch likes magic tricks and as it happens he has a good deal of skill in that area. The more honest way he displays this is through performing magic on the streets of Canterlot. The less honest application is for small thefts and more up close pranks.
Weaknesses/Flaws:
Organisation: Although Switch is talented when it comes to creating and executing intricate plans and schemes, in day to day life, he is incredibly messy and disorganised. Because of this, he often loses things.
General intelligence: Once again, although he is very quick witted and can think far out of the box with his schemes, his factual knowledge is poor. He can rarely hold up in any form of intellectual conversation with another pony.
Lack of patience: To put it simply, Switch doesn't like waiting, and as a result struggles to stay still for any length of time. He also struggles to tolerate ponies who disagree with him, and won't hold back in voicing his disagreement.
Fears:
Advanced Magic: Switch both distrusts and fears the advanced magical arts, mainly because of their ability to bend the limits of physical ability and how easily they can ruin a trick. As an extention of this, he tends to steer clear of 'big-shot' unicorns, although he does give it a try from time to time, to challenge himself.
Long-term consequences: Even though he dislikes consequences, Switch can just about bear a strict telling off. What he really fears though, is a punishment that would keep him on check for good and restrict his fun.
Overall Persona: Switch Overhand is not a well formed pony. It would be an understatement to say his moral compass is slightly squed.
