Obsidia sat outside the hospital, taking her dark mane from it's ponytail before shaking it out to reveal the brown strip of her mane. She had a rough day in the hospital, having to deliver several foals within the last few hours of working and now she was ready to get back to her house but she knew her day wasn't up. She still had to pick up a few groceries and run a few errands. Though, something stayed in the back of her mind. She had a strong feeling that she shouldn't leave the hospital just yet. She leaned her head against the wall of the hospital and let out a long sigh before looking to the sky to see the sun setting above the clouds. She ran her hoof through her dark green mane before standing and walking away.
Obsidia arrived at the park and sat in front of the pond, resting her hooves in the cool water as she laid on her back to stare at the sky. With how much she worked, she never really had the time to sit back and relax. She loved her job though. She was always around bright-eyed foals who had no care in the world, though sometimes the parents were a little much to handle. Her eyes close and she feels the fatigue of working more shifts than she was used to. She was trying to find herself a nice cottage to live in, though working as a Pediatrician and a Midwife was a little much when you had mothers coming left and right asking for ways to help their foals right before you had to run into the emergency room to deliver another foal. She opened her eyes to the now night sky and stared at the stars. For some reason, they always calmed her. She always imagined her colt looking down at her and telling all his other little friends how proud he was of his mommy for finding some way to cope with his death.
That was her dark secret. She had a colt, though, he didn't make it through the labor. It still broke her to this day whenever she had to tell another mother that their foal didn't make it. Those words hadn't come out of her mouth in a few months, though. She knew they would again but for now she was happy with not having to tell a mother that they lost their foal or telling a family that the mother didn't make it. Sometimes, they both didn't make it and that's when she had the hardest time telling the family. She shook those thoughts from her mind before closing her eyes and keeping her thoughts on how tomorrow was a new day, her off day at that.
