It was a dark night and Luna’s moon showed high in the sky. Though the bright crescent was hard to see from the ground, as the weather ponies had scheduled one heck of a foggy night. Bits of fallen clouds swept across the streets of Ponyville, drifting in the light breeze the night brought forth. As the last rays of the sun settled behind the hills, ponies would hang closed signs in the windows and exit the shops of the marketplace. The Streets flooded with ponies of all kinds, trotting through the crowds on their way home after a long day of working in the shops.
Clover gazed around the small building where his shop was located. Shelves upon shelves filled the walls, all stacked with various items. His minty green irises scanned every section of the building slowly. He then gave a nod, everything seemed to be in place. It was now time to close up shop. His hooves clopped with each step he took as he walked over to the desk that his bag rested atop of. With his hooves, he grabbed the tawny colored bag and let the strap rest across his shoulder. He then turned around, ready to close the shop and head home for the night. However, something was tugging at his neck, preventing him from going very far. He pulled a little bit harder, hearing a snap, then something of light weight tumble down onto the hard wood floor. He looked down, realizing his lucky necklace had gotten caught on something, then when he pulled, it broke. No matter, he would simply have to get a new chain for it. However, he needed to find that pendent, it was extremely valuable, and important to him.
Suddenly, the door to the shop burst open and in stepped a unicorn mare. She was dark blue in coloration, was rather scrawny and wore a black cloak. “Excuse me miss, but we are closed ” Clover explained, however, the unicorn mare made no signs of acknowledging him. Instead she picked up a few crystals that were stacked in a bucket at the front of the shop using her magic. Clover looked up, seeing the crystal pendent from his necklace had rolled near the mare. Before the goat could do anything, the unicorn also saw the pendent and soon her magic grasped it as well. She then made a run for it, dashing back outside. Clover immediately ran after her into the streets. “Theif!” he yelled, but it seemed most of the ponies had already left the marketplace, leaving the streets silent and empty. Soon the mare disappeared into the fog… just his luck that it was a foggy night. Without his necklace, he didn’t expect good luck. However, there was more to being successful in life then just being lucky, and no matter what he was going to get that pendent back… or at least try.
