It was a crisp autumn morning in Canterlot.
At The Canterlot Academy of Magic, a prestigious private magic school, the Fall also meant a new school year.
The cafeteria mare asked, “Professor Swirl, would you care for some tea or a bit of jam with that croissant?”
Sunshine Swirl blinked, then replied, “Please, just Sunshine is fine. And I would love a cup of tea, if it’s no bother.” She had been deep in thought.
As her tea was being made, Sunshine went back to her thoughts. Oh yes. The new school year. I have three students from Ponyville that I’ll be meeting with today.
Levitating her tea cup and breakfast pastry she trotted out of the dining hall to the central courtyard garden path. The trees were beautiful shades of orange, yellow and red. She could smell the wood burning in the hearths scattered around campus. Sunshine loved this time of year.
She walked down the long central cobblestone lane towards her office. The faculty building was a gray two story stone structure with ivy growing on the walls. Her office was on the first floor, room 103.
Once at her desk, she took a bite of her breakfast and looked over the paperwork for the students from Ponyville. “Hmm, Blueberry Muffin, Bubbly Beaker, and Vixen Tremortin,” she said to herself. “Three promising students. They should have each gotten their student guidebook by now and hopefully they’ve had time to read it. I wonder if they’ve picked out their four classes yet?”
Sunshine’s job today was to get these three students registered for their classes, and show them around the campus. Well, that and prepare lesson plans for the classes she would be teaching.
She heard hoof-steps coming down the hallway. Perhaps that was one of them now? Who would be first?
