These are notes for students enrolled in the Canterlot Academy of Magic role-play.
This is a classic “adventures in a magical boarding school” themed role-play similar to (a TV-7) Harry Potter or to Little Witch Academia.
NOTE: This Semester is currently underway. If you would like to enroll in classes for next semester — please private message Professor Sunshine Swirl.
Summary:
The Canterlot Academy of Magic is a prestigious 1000 year old private school of magic. It accepts teenage and adult students who wish to continue their studies of magic. Students live on campus in the heart of Canterlot.
There are a number of rumors and mysteries spread by the upper classponies at the Academy. Tales of secret rooms, mysterious artifacts, catacombs, and monsters masquerading as teachers. Surely there’s no truth to any of that?
Classes at the Academy are very challenging with skilled (but often eccentric) professors. Subjects include everything a well rounded unicorn needs: Magic, Alchemy, Math, Chemistry, Music, Theater, and Archery as well as other popular unicorn sports.
Setting:
The Campus of the Canterlot Academy of Magic has everything a studious pony needs.
* Dorm Towers - Two identical 10 floor towers; Tower B (mares) and Tower C (stallions). The spacious ground floor has a comfortable shared study area with a very large hearth. Each floor above has 3 large dorm rooms with 2 bunk beds each. The tower basements house baths and showers. A dorm mare/stallion lives on the ground floor in an attached suite and keeps an eye on the students.
* Dining Hall - A large dining hall (building D) has a healthy menu of meals throughout the day as well as a midnight snack each night.
* Campus Center - At the center of campus is a large central courtyard and garden (G) with a statue of Princess Celestia and fountain. The large Tower of Learning (A) overlooks the entire campus and houses each department of the Academy.
* East Campus - Houses the lovely East Gardens with pond and pathways. The Archery Range, Alchemy labs, Research Hall and Shop building surround the gardens.
* Student Hall - Dances and other student social events are held in the well appointed ground floor. The second and third floor hold student club rooms as well as the student council rooms.
* West Campus - The campus’ social area contains the Gym and Athletics Field, Auditorium, Theater, Music Hall and one of Canterlot’s most complete Libraries.
* Off Campus - There are many local shops, cafés and restaurants that cater to Canterlot’s students. Study with a warm cup of tea while listening to poetry or a string quartet. Take a stroll to the Canterlot Gardens or trot around the Canterlot Castle walls.

Dormitory Tower Floor Plan:
Each dorm tower has 10 floors, 3 rooms per floor, and 3-4 students per room. Each room has 2 bunkbeds, 2 large windows, 4 wardrobes, and 4 desks. Other furniture and/or rugs may be purchased.
Things you might do on the first day:
Feel free to do any (or all, or none) of the following on your first day at The Academy:
- Get lost on campus. Wind up in the East Gardens by the pond. Ask a random pony for directions.
- Meet your “Rival” for the semester. (Make up an NPC and scenario. Maybe they cut in line. Maybe they took the last order of hay fries, perhaps they gave you wrong directions on purpose. For whatever reason, they are now your rival.)
- Find Sunshine Swirl and tell her the four classes that you picked out from the “Course Listing”. Explain why you want those four classes. You did pick out four classes from the Course Listing, didn't you?
- Get something to eat or drink at the dinning hall. It's autumn in Canterlot. It's cooler up here in the mountains than down in Ponyville. Hot Cocoa might be nice.
- Overhear one or more of the “Rumors”
- Find your locker, try the combination. Is it empty? Maybe the last owner left something behind by mistake.
- Find your Dorm Room. Who are your roommates? Have they arrived yet? Are they friendly? Feel free to make up a roommate NPC if you want.
