Rainbow Dash yawned, rubbing her eyes and stretching her wings. She sluggishly fluttered off her soft cloud bed, leaving the blanket unkempt and wadded up right on top. As she did every morning, the pegasus readied herself for another dive. A dive into the air, that was. Pinning her wings on each side, she gained enough speed to then shoot straight up again, feeling the wind ripple and whistle through her ears. She grinned, this was better than any morning routine she'd ever hear anypony else do. After going up and down a few times like a carnival ride, she stopped at the climax of her exercise and, with a few flaps of her wings to stall it, suddenly stopped flapping altogether.
This was what she craved. The adrenaline pumping through her veins, the wind rushing at her mane and ears, the ground zooming in ever closer, as if she were to die; then, as she came hurtling towards the ground not too far below her, she stuck out her wings and began to glide like a falcon, soaring just over the trees. A scream of happiness escaped her lips as she passed over small village houses and zoomed over the streams of her hometown, lowering her front hoof to skim the water—though just barely.
Her momentum began to slow, and she felt the tug of gravity weighing on her outstretched wings. Taking a hint, she flapped her wings, beginning a smooth pattern of up and down movements always in perfect sync. Her cloud house wasn't too far off, and Rainbow could see a faint outline of a pony at her doorstep. Speeding right over her house to enter through the back, she then calmed her beating heart before answering the door to the pony. It was the mailpony, a scroll in hoof for her, and she thanked him quickly before closing the door.
Unraveling the shimmering blue ribbon, she began to read the words inside:
Miss Rainbow Dash,
As you remember, every year we in the Crystal Kingdom must celebrate the Crystal Faire, so we may power the Crystal Heart and celebrate our freedom. It has been a year since the last one, and I invite you to come early and help set up this year's, as you did last year.
Feel free to bring with you a small group of helpers, perhaps others who wish to participate in the festivities with music, art, or whatever they may have to offer.
We hope to see you here soon!
~Princess Cadance

The cyan pegasus gave a wide grin as she finished reading the letter! doing a few backflips as she exclaimed, Awesome! She began to think of ponies she could ask to come with her, perhaps that disc jockey she'd seen not too long ago...
She paused, remembering something immense. If she had been invited, surely all her other friends had as well! She grinned again, tucking the letter into her saddlebag and strapping it on with a pull from her teeth. I can't wait! she exclaimed as she flew out of her house, towards the library. Surely, if anypony had been invited, Twilight was most likely to also have been invited. She was the princess's sister-in-law for pony's sake!

Rainbow Dash flew away from Fluttershy's cottage, a distraught look on her face. Nopony else was able to come so far! She'd spoken to all her friends, from Twilight to Fluttershy, and of no avail. She flew lazily towards Sweet Apple Acres, where her final inquiry would be asked. The bright red barn was a sign of her arrival, and she soon landed in the front field, where she saw her earth pony friend lived. Applejack and she were always friends, but at times they were also fierce competitors, having no end to their competitions.
Today wasn't that day, at least in the eyes of the cyan pegasus, as she called out for her friend. Hey, Applejack! I gotta ask ya something! the pegasus pulled out the letter, ready to show her friend and ask if she'd be able to come as well. By now, she was certain Applejack had recieved one, but was she going? Dash wasn't sure...
