Personality: Honey Dust is very hardworking. She’s obsessed with honey production and can’t understand people who don’t like honey. She hates being surprised and will get very angry very quickly if you scare her. She doesn’t like being alone and would always rather work in a team. Despite this, she doesn’t go out socialising much. She usually has something else to do. She lacks a life plan because she dislikes thinking ahead. She’s prone to feeling inadequate when she compares herself to others. She takes a long time to trust someone but when she does, she gives herself to them completely. She can’t cope with betrayal. She loves to be complimented but also loves to make others feel good about themselves. She’s always a little skint but she’s very proud and hates borrowing money from others. She is quite afraid of the dentist because as a filly she ate too many sweets and honey and had to go to the dentist frequently. Now, though she hasn't cut down on her sweet consumption and still has honey on everything she eats, she takes much better care of her teeth, for fear of having to go back to the dentist.
Something Honey has struggled with for most of her life is and inferiority complex over her race. She is a pegasus, and has no trouble with flight, but she is under the impression that she doesn't belong in the world of agriculture because she isn't an Earth Pony and doesn't have that mystical connection to the earth that others do. She is slowly learning to accept her place in the world, but it is taking time. She's learning lessons from her family and friends to be happy with who she is.
Background: Honey Dust grew up in a apiary on the outskirts of Manehatten. Her family are all Pegasi and are only hobby bee keepers. Honey Dust, however adores farming and quickly grew very skilled in bee keeping and honey producing.
She gained her cutie mark when she was quite young. There was a fire in her parents apiary. Though, everypony was prepared to wait for the fire brigade, Honey Dust knew that would result in all the hives being destroyed. She flew back and forth with buckets of water, managing to save the hives before the fire-fighters arrived. She was relatively unscathed and shortly after she noticed the honey hive on her flank.
She is secretly ashamed that she’s not a real farmer and wishes she was an Earth Pony as they are much more common farmers. As she grew older, she began to expand the farm, bit by bit. She began keeping more bees, selling different kinds of honey products and even taking on a few chickens. Eventually her parents had to tell her that they couldn’t afford the land and she should start looking for a “proper” job in Manehatten. However, Honey Dust decided she would leave home and move to the more countrified town of PonyVille. She has heard that Honey Oats is looking for help in her apiary in Whitetail Woods and Honey Dust jumped at the chance.
Later, her parents felt that Honey needed some lessons in responsibility. Their son, Honey's brother was sent to live with Honey. Their parents think he needed the fresh air. As they have always gotten on well together, she was glad to welcome him into her home. He loves sweets and Honey loves making them! They now live in a little cottage near the edge of Whitetail Wood that Honey Dust is renting. It’s small and rather meagre but Honey loves it. She doesn’t have all that many possessions and a cosy room with a fireplace is all she’s looking for.
