Huey huffed, working on finishing painting his little sister's room when he heard it the door to the house open and then close. The laughter and three different hooves was enough to tell the gray and dark blue colored stallion who it was before one, his mother, came up the stairs. "Huey? Oh, don't tell me you're still staling on exploring Ponyville."
The Stallion shook his head, looking at Tempest. "I'm not staling. I'm doing this family a favor. I just need to find where I packed that dark green for Gale's room. She's not going to be happy with this unless there's green somewhere." He didn't see the problem: he was beautifying his family's new homes! But his mother clearly disagreed, grabbing a cloth he'd brought up to clean his brushes and trying to clean him up. "Mom! I'm not a colt. Come on."
"Then make yourself presentable! This is a lovely town, Huey. Two days is too long to meet new ponies." That was when the mare gave a mischievous grin that worried him. Oh, no. She had a plan! "Gale is so nervous about school and meeting new faces. Don't you want to be a good big brother and set an example?"
Typical mother! Darn it all she had him now! She used Gale against him! "Fine! Fine... I'll clean up and...mingle."
Tempest smiled brightly, knowing she'd won as he started heading downstairs to clean up in his own house. "Try the marketplace! It's so busy and maybe you'll find something nice for dinner"
<An hour later>
Huey groaned, clearly nervous to be out surrounded by the strange new faces as he wandered around the marketplace. He'd just find stuff for dinner and go home! Merchants counted, right? Slow and steady. The artist wasn't antisocial but so many strangers was a lot to be around! Plus he was from Cloudsdale! All the unicorns and earth ponies in one town mingling along with other pegasus was a lot for him. It was...it was intimidating but it was also beautiful. All the diversity! He started wondering if he could capture this in a painting when the oldest cliche in the book happened in him: he felt himself bump into somepony while his mind was wandering. At least his glasses, while a little jolted, didn't fall to the ground. Great. Looks like he was meeting someone whether he wanted to or not! "O-Oh! I'm so sorry!"
