-Personality Stuff-
Likes: Loves her job, energetic ponies, and she especially enjoys seeing the wonder of foals or those who have never seen fireworks before. She also enjoys acrobatic flying, both for her job and just for fun.
Dislikes: Long quiet periods, being held back for any reason – both from a potential discovery or from any challenge that is "too hard". She also dislikes inefficient or ponies that she thinks are boring.
Motivation: To push the boundaries (in her flying and her work), to create new things, to inspire wonder in ponies.
Strengths: Her creativity and her boundless energy are great strengths of hers. She has great spontaneity, which means she deals well with mistakes and copes exceptionally with having to improvise. She's also very open and comes across quite confident and personable.
Weaknesses/Flaws: She's a little impatient–sometimes she jumps ahead of where she should be, just because she wants to see something through to the end, or puts herself in danger because she just couldn't wait to try something (without testing it first). She can be insensitive to how loud some ponies find her, and can take on too many projects at once when she gets overexcited.
Fears: She's a pretty fearless pony as they go, not scared to try new things, but she worries about injuring others in her line of work. She also worries about what would happen if she ever was unable to work–so, injury of her wings.
Overall Persona:
Sparkler is bright, bubbly, friendly, and somewhat explosive – as her name would suggest. She loves learning and creating, and is always trying to push herself to bigger and better things. Some find her a bit loud, at first, but once you get used to that she’s a real sweetheart, dedicated to making your event (or maybe just your day) the best that It can be. She finds it hard to sit still, for the most part, and this impatience can sometimes get the best of her, but she will keep working at something until it gets done. She gets along very well with foals – their excitability and wonder coupled with her nonchalance when it comes to trying dangerous things means that they generally love her, and she loves them right back. Sparkler will try things she maybe hasn’t thought through–which the singes on her wingtips can speak for–and tends to not think through consequences, but she is smart enough usually to think herself out of the messes that result. She’s a good pony to have by your side, unless you like to take life at a somewhat slower pace, in which case she will likely find it very hard to stay there for very long. She manages to find a great deal of optimism in most things, which can be at times exceptionally annoying and at times the best possible thing–it all depends on the problem. She doesn’t tend to hold grudges, for the most part, but she is definite about her decisions. If she shuts somepony out resolutely, it will likely be forever.
History/Background: WARNING THIS IS A BIT LONG, I GOT CARRIED AWAY.
Sparkler and her twin sister Astrum were born in Trottingham to parents Firefly and Stardust.
Firefly grew up in Cloudsdale, and works as the weather pony in charge of arranging the clouds for the sunsets in Trottingham (as well as various other duties) after moving there to live with Stardust. She also lights the lamps in town at this time (a large part of her talent), and has a bit of a knack for decoration.
Stardust is an author (mostly non-fiction though occasionally he dabbles in fiction, too), working from their home in Trottingham. Their entire family are pegasus ponies, excluding Astrum–who was born an Earth Pony. Despite this difference, the sisters are exceptionally close.
The plan had originally been for the family to move to Cloudsdale, but after Astrum's birth, they had to remain in Trottingham. Deprived of the chance to send her to a professional school, her mother Firefly took it upon herself to make sure that Sparkler would not be deprived of any opportunity to develop her flying abilities, or any freedom to practise whatever she wished. As a family, she and Stardust took the girls camping in the plains outside the city so that Sparkler could practise her acrobatic flights that she was so fond of and Stardust could teach Astrum about stargazing (more on that in her own app).
Sparkler gained her cutie mark one day at a Heartswarming Eve, where the family took to the streets for the festivities. Firefly had been enlisted for a lot of the help with the décor around the main street, and the whole family were admiring the sweetness of the town. They purchased sparklers for the two girls, and Sparkler leapt into the air and (just for the fun of it) performed some little acrobatic moves with it in her mouth, producing a trail behind her ((as ponies like Rainbow Dash, Lightning Dust and the Wonderbolts have been shown to do)) for the first time as well. When she touched the ground, she found that she had her cutie mark, and this ignited her interest in creating displays with flight and science.
She and her sister both moved to Canterlot when the time came for education beyond the elementary classrooms, studying different sciences (a love they both shared). She learned all about Pyrotechnics and did some more flight training, and now creates fireworks in her workshop in Cloudsdale that are bought for events all over Equestria.
