-Personality Stuff-
Likes: Although she can find them annoying at times, Myriad truly does love her family. Flying is definitely a favorite passtime for the young filly, even if she isn't the best at it. Myriad LOVES to eat, like, just about anything that is put in front of her. For a tiny little filly, she can really put it away, to the point where her parents are the ones who limit what and how much she eats since too much makes her ill. Quiet time is definitely a common pass time for Myriad in which she will do one of two things: read, or sleep. As for the more loud activities, she likes playing video games.
Dislikes: Myriad is extremely picky when it comes to textures, whether they touch her or she touches them. One such texture she can't stand is anything wet, or squishy. She finds the sensation gross, which makes bath time difficult for her mother, and you can forget asking her to come to a swimming hole. As a young filly who was born with a weak constitution and gets sick easily, you can imagine why she doesn't like getting sick. On top of that, she has missed or generally been behind most other foals her age, and as a result, the target of bullies who either call her out on being behind, or are jealous that she always knows the answers despite all the class time she's missed. No one likes being bullied, but the one thing Myriad hates more than being the target of bullies, is someone bullying her younger twin sister. She also doesn't like anything girly, like the color pink or dresses. She'd rather wear a collar and tie for formal gatherings than a dress.
Motivation: she just likes to have fun
Strengths: Art, music, trivia, puzzles, hiding
Weaknesses/Flaws: gets tired or sick easily, is stubborn, is still very naive, gets bored quickly, is really blunt
Fears: being alone, her sister getting hurt, falling and not being able to recover
Overall Persona: Myriad is a quirky little filly who’s personality depends on who happens to be around. When around her parents or other older ponies, Myriad is polite and respectful and doesn’t speak much. Not that she’s listening, usually her mind just wanders off until some pony breaks her concentration and brings her into whatever conversation is going on. Mostly she just keeps close to her twin sister off in a corner reading books or coloring.
When Myriad is with her twin sister Mosaic, the two tend to do quiet activities. Since Mosaic gets sick at the drop of a feather, overprotective parents limit the activities she’s allowed to do. However, Myriad isn’t restricted as much and likes to do whatever she can to make her sister laugh and smile and have a good time. She’s learned a few tricks here and there from the books they read together, and has the most fun when she knows she made her sister’s day.
Occasionally, Myriad takes her fun and games with Mosaic a little too far for their parents’ view, and so the two are separated. On the rare occasion that her older brother Silver Lining is around, he’s usually the first pony Myriad goes to for something to do. Silver Lining is the one who taught her how to fly as well as a few aerial tricks. She may not be as fast or as strong as her big brother, but she is definitely a lot more agile. He has also taught her a few jokes to share with Mosaic.
As for being at school with other foals her own age, Myriad tends to start off shy. She has never been the type of pony to initiate a conversation because she always feels so awkward talking to some pony she doesn’t know. The only exception is if she overhears a conversation involving a topic she knows about. Nothing like a common interest to start a conversation right? However, she tends to get over excited about sharing information. The more excited she is about something, the louder she gets, and it just kinda snowballs from there.
While Myriad does seem to have an exorbitant amount of energy, she actually does have her limits. The more energy she uses, the faster she blows through it, occasionally resulting in extreme fatigue that basically makes her feel like she’s falling ill. As much as her parents have tried to teach her how to ration out her energy and have enough self control to keep calm and not make herself sick, it’s not exactly the easiest thing to do.
History/Background: Originally born in Stratusburg, Myriad is the older of a pair of twin fillies. While it may be normal for fillies to be a bit more fragile than colts, this particular pair were born even more so. It seemed as though the two were constantly sick to the point where the family could only take their fillies home if they hired a live in nurse pony to help out. The family was originally told that it was common for any set of multiple births to have a few health issues for the first few months, but that the two should begin to gain strength soon. They were only supposed to be slightly delayed in their development, but it took longer than expected.
Myriad was the first to gain decent muscle in both her wings and her legs. She pretty much started walking and flying at the same time. Not one separate from the other mind you, She used her wings to help herself walk, while at the same time it could also be viewed as her using her hooves to help her fly. Even so, she got tired more quickly than most foals her age, and her sister was still stuck in her sitting position, unable to get up any further than that.
As time went on, Myriad’s stubbornness and desire to go outside instead of being stuck in one place drove her to gain more and more progress. She adored flying lessons with her brother, but she still wanted to go to flight school. By now she was starting to get more and more energy, and she was learning how to use it. Her favorite way was to do everything within her power to annoy her parents until they gave in and signed her up for flight school. As much as she wanted Mosaic to go too, she knew that she just wasn’t up to it yet.
Flight school was a blast for Myriad as she met so many other pegasi foals. It was here that she learned that although her speed, strength and stamina were sub par, her agility was top notch, and she was able to pull off a few acrobatic tricks that got her a bit of attention. However, her time at flight school was cut short when she over exerted herself during practice one day and came down with a fever, resulting in her having to go home. She did, however, get to go back when Mosaic had gained enough strength to at least keep herself up for a few moments. Luckily by then, Myriad had increased her strength and stamina enough to help her sister out on the course.
Shortly after returning from flight camp, the family decided that it was possible that living at such high altitude was a contributing factor in the twins’ fragile health. While Myriad wasn’t nearly as sickly as her sister, she did still get sick very easily. Her parents believed that if they took their daughters to the ground, and in a sparsely populated small town, that perhaps both of their daughters might begin the healing process. So the two parents searched for a place that fit their criteria: A small town, with a small population, no pollution, quiet, plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables, and, of course, a high quality medical facility. To their delight, they found that Ponyville not only fit those very criteria, but it was within a day’s flight to Canterlot.
It hasn’t been very long since the family moved into town, so Myriad doesn’t know any pony, but she is excited for a change of scenery, especially if it means she and her sister don’t get sick as often.
