The goat grinned, though a grin unseen past his mask, at the way Gearshift announced his intent to protect the group should things go wrong. In his head Augen mused the idea, though, that any of them, even Gearshift or Augen, might be in need of protection at some point. Augen knew not what they were getting into, and felt assured enough to assume the same of the rest of the group. He also had yet to see most of the others in the face of danger.
During their trek to the train Dustpan's explanation of his back-and-forth travels seemed to fascinate the goat, who chuckled girlishly (in unsettling contrast to his skull) at the yo-yo jest. "In such case concern shall be absent, good sir. Prance, I myself, remain inexperienced. Though shall I the chance, I would like to venture there at some point... I myself have not spent much time outside of my homeland until my travels to Equestria, and apart from my time between lands have barely stepped outside the outskirts of either. I do hope, however, to return someday. I've learned much during my time here."
At the mention of their more-than-expected reservations for a higher-end train, Augen's ears twitched and perked straight up. After his recent poverties this sounded like a pleasant twist of events, as well as made the goat wonder more about Ashti. He was reluctant to speak much to the somewhat-familiar pony, flashbacks to the obelisk causing unpleasant jolts to the goat's brain... But that seemed to wane in his earlier interactions with Dream Gaze. 'Alright,' he thought silently to himself. 'I'll bite'.
"Speeecial reservations, utter ye?" Augen asked, trying to ease into the conversation. "Might I assume you very well-off," he asked, his eyes tracing the brown pony. "... Sorry, I mean not to intrude or seem a moocherous sort," Augen explained, "I simply noticed you look the seasoned sort to my eyes. I take that your path has brought you far in life?"
