"What If" Stories

[Boulder Dash]

Wasn't sure where to put this: RP Discussions or here in the General Discussion. On one hand, it is talking about OC characters and such. But on the other, it's not entirely discussing actually making an RP thread out of this and such. It is just a discussion about the "What If" stories, things that are like "What if my character took a left turn that day instead of a right? How different would they be today?" kind of thing. Fun speculating and "non-cannon" tales about your OC.

So after weighing my options, I'm posting them here. If I'm wrong, go easy on me: I at least took it into consideration! PLEASE DON'T HIT MEH ;~;



Anyhoo, "What If" stories. I sometimes like to think up of these things to see what would happen if this or that did or didn't happen to my characters and what the results would be. For example, when my OC Boulder was 3, it involved sneaking into an expedition site and getting attacked by giant spiders, resulting in a paralyzed wing. What would happen if his father found him sooner and the spider thing never happened at all?

Well, I got my character to be a huge fan boy of the Wonder Bolts, ever since a young age. If he had never been paralyzed in the wing, I see him being a bit more arrogant, cocky, and and even selfish. But because he would be able to fly, he'd have a passion about that, aspiring to be a Wonder Bolt instead. His cutie mark would've even been different, as I've drafted out an idea where it'd be a meteorite with a trail of smoke behind it; Or dare I say a "boulder dashing across the sky."

Of course, in my OC's cannon, this hasn't happened. But just for fun, what are some of your "what if" stories that you contemplated just for fun?

Hmmm... What if Waxworks had never met Mannequin Grace (her first friend), what if Mandolin Gray had run away from town instead of coming back, what if Dusty Pan had stayed in college, what if Galvanic and Rivet had never met...

Let's see...

What if Orange Crème de la Crème never moved away from Prance?
-Well, she would've never learned English, she wouldn't have been introduced to Waxworks and other guests, aaaand...she wouldn't be the baker and traveler she is today. (Still a baker, but not as influenced by culture)

What if Chocomint Swirl was quite active?
-She wouldn't be called "Lazyhooves," aaaaand...she wouldn't be...um...oh yeah, out of the house. She'd have never met Deadbeat Angel, then.

What if Skywishes was outgoing?
-Probably wouldn't be the way she is to birds/plants, and she probably would've had a lot more friends by now.

What if Curtain Call never auditioned for her sixth grade play?
-I WOULD'VE NEVER BEGUN MY ACTING CARE—ahem, sorry. I mean, C. C. would've never begun her acting career. Wow, then her cutie mark and name would've probably already been different. XD

Well, I have a what if's story topic :

What if Ashti's parents were not reported missing ?
- the good side : spend an happy foalhood along his familly and Bastion.
- The bad side : never spend foalhood with his mate (and get married), never learned magic, never met his friends or Finder, never earned his cutie mark and never be a relic tracker and diplomat.

What if Ashti been totally discordified ?
- Turned evil and did a coup d'etat in Deerham. Taking the throne and bringing war.

What if Ashti was a mare ?
- Well, depend if his parents would be reported missing or not. But in the normal timeline, he would be good friend/ Sibling with Arabesque, and probably in love for Dream or Bastion.

What if Ashti was ruined ?
-Probably never having his embassy so soon, or maybe he would have be paid by Equestria or Deerham.Or he could also move back to Deerham if no more having the his diplomatic job. However there is chance that Finder would live in Deerham.

What if Boulder was a mare?

Well, his (or her) name would probably be "Crystal Dash." Probably wouldn't be as sporty, but perhaps more of an interest in the arts, I'd wager. Basically just someone entirely different than who he is now.



What if Boulder became discorded?

Well, Boulder's wing is a touchy subject with him to begin with. Normally, he tries to draw as much attention away from it and even though he may get kind of aggressive about the subject because he's that self conscience about it, he won't jump into a fight right away over it. Not that he hasn't to get a couple of bullies off his flank, but he doesn't pick fights for the sake of fighting. A discorded Boulder Dash, however, will take the tiniest thing and turn it into a brawl. Considering he'd been taught how to fight in means of boxing and karate from his father so he could handle his own battles (young pony with a paralyzed wing is sure to draw bullies, so his dad took Boulder to "Karate for Foals" lessons when he was little and over the years recreational boxes with his son since it was a sport Geode did when he was in college as an outlet), Boulder would be pretty tough to deal with if you don't know how to properly fight as well. He ain't a champ like his father was when he was younger, but to say the least that he's not someone you'd like a tumble with; A discorded, aggressive Boulder is doubly so!

GAH! It just occurred to me now to actually write something following the "What If..." part of it. D'oh. Okay, let me try this again.

What if Waxworks and Mannequin Grace had never met?

Grace is more or less responsible for Waxy becoming a social creature instead of just a fear-monger, so I imagine Waxy would've become more introverted and possibly more frightening than she currently is. I doubt she would've become evil, as her kind-hearted nature was from her mother, but she would've definitely become much more socially awkward. On Grace's side of things, Waxy's responsible for her improving her acting techniques and pacing, meaning Grace would've probably progressed more slowly...

What if Dusty Pan had stayed in college?

Given that he was studying astronomy and was well on his way to reaching PhD levels, he probably would've become a doctor... Doctor Pan. However this means he wouldn't have wound up in Ponyville, probably would've worked with his father instead, and also sadly means that Waxworks and Cobblestone would've never met. Also, his position as the wise, guru-like figure amongst his friends would've been gone, so I imagine Powderkeg would've been more cranky, Mandolin Gray would've been more unrestrained, and so on.
