Personality:
Gossamer's coliges and students alike well say many things about the zelous pony some good some bad but all well say that once he has his mind set on something there is no way in all of Equestria short of Starswerlds ghoust to convince him to diverge from his chosen path. He is a pride-full pony confident in himself, his family name, and the magic he wields, he is infamious on campus for his defense agents the black magics class that hold a astounding 3/10 drop out rate. when asked about this he well simply say "i am raising the possible fate of equestria and i well do my best to insure i am teaching only i highest caliber unicorn" however when called for he can perform a dramatic switch of character for instance on the few occasions he has had a audience with a princes he appears but a snoty sophisticated unicorn dedicated to poshness and fine magic.      

Overall: "I consider my self a unicorn above most if not all others. i was born with the gift of magic and i shall not squander such a thing. My family is known for producing the finest magisters in all of Equestria and has sworn a oath to use its great magic to protecter the land in witch we live and all she has to offer. The first of the goldstars lead the march that formed the barricade that restricted sombras entrance to Equestria. The secound stood bye Celestia during the founding days of the fine establishment in witch i now work. The third traveled the land collecting Starswirled the bearded's lost works forming what we now know to be the Mystic archives. and even though Sombras return was inevitable my father spent his life battaling the forces of dark magic hear in are home land. and i for one well not let my name the 5th point on the golden star be the weakest link on the family chain."   - Prof. GoldStar after accused of being paranoid by his coliges during the yearly staff assembly              

Gossamer spends most of his time acting like a normal professor at C.S.F.G.U. but in truth he is one like no others he teaches with one purpose in minde preparing Equestria for what he believes is the coming darkness. He teaches every other month and on the months he's not held up in the class room he and occasionally his most elite students are out in the field searching for any signs of Dark magic to be extinguished.

If your character is a teacher in magic and have a gift in magic... well, Twilight must not be the only one. To me his "power" is justified.
