-Personality Stuff-
Likes: Pincer loves the idea of being lauded for his/her cunning, stealth, and bravery, and the general idea of being regarded as the best thing since the bendy-straw. On that note Pin's also lightly obsessed with bendy-straws (the bendier the better), opals, and beetles. Pin also has a surprising love of lemons and lemon candy.
Dislikes: Ironically enough, Pin hates change. While Pin has no problem casting off identities as it suits him/her, the little Changeling gets genuinely upset when the situation around a given identity changes. He/she doesn't like it when somepony he/she copies is different from the last time, or when a location isn't the same as before. Pincer also dislikes cotton candy, getting his/her hooves sticky, and low, rumbling vibrations.
Motivation: A dangerous mixture of ambition and glory motivate Pincer. The little changeling wants to be borne aloft and cheered by adoring masses, but this is getting harder and harder when the envisioned adoring masses don't seem to exist anymore. Slowly this is being replaced by a more resilient, unyielding resistance, a desire to remain as he/she is despite the wave of reformed changelings. What initially was a combination of fear and stubborn adherence to her species' history has become a more radical sort of insistence on remaining as she/he has always been.
Strengths: Pin's greatest strength is his/her sense of self-worth. For a creature that rarely spends much time in its own natural form, Pincer's very fond of his/her own appearance. In addition, Pincer's braver than he/she appears, willingly marching (or rather, timidly sneaking) back into known, dangerous situations in an effort to prove him/herself.
Weaknesses/Flaws: Pincer doesn't know how to deal with acceptance, and often views it as a form of native hostility. In Pincer's mind, a Changeling steals love, and if a pony's fine with that then there's a problem because how in Equestria are you supposed to steal something that's given away freely? Seeing reformed changelings walking the streets happily alongside other species tends to throw the little changeling into panic attacks. Pincer will also tend to engage in arguments when sometimes, his/her opposition actually agrees with him/her, leaving the poor changeling babbling like an idiot.
Fears: Spiders and Waxworks, not necessarily in that order. Pincer's major dread, however, is change. Irreconcilably, Pincer views change as a destruction of what was to be replaced with what it's not, and for some mad reason Pincer's own shape-shifting nature doesn't seem to touch upon that subject. After all, a changeling can change into other things. But sometimes Pincer has nightmares about him/herself uncontrollably changing from the hooves up, his/her shiny insectoid form being replaced by pastel coloration and gems, his/her form being taken over until at the very last moment Pincer sees his/her face flashing an alien expression that says this is no longer Pincer. At that moment, Pincer typically wakes up in a cold sweat, shivering. A changeling changing shape? That's fine... so long as the changeling WANTS to... and what changeling would EVER want to change into one of those creepy... non-changeling things?!
Overall Persona: Pincer is a changeling stuck on the cusp of a great change sweeping through Equestria, straddling the line between the dark past under the rule of Chrsyalis, and the pastel-colored present under the rule of Thorax. Given Pincer's age and own feelings, suddenly finding the world he/she knew being replaced with a different one, regardless of whether it's good or bad, felt like having the world whipped out from under his/her hooves. In response to this, Pin attempts to cling to the familiar, the safe, the past, despite the oncoming future. It may be hesitation to engage in a commitment that could mean casting off who Pincer feels he/she is, or it may be a fear of the unknown, but Pincer gets extremely edgy when exposed to new things, even though he/she may turn out to quite enjoy them. It's generally best to trick him/her into such experiences. It's also not entirely clear whether Pincer's fixated on true changeling practices, as he/she still insists on stealing love, yet tends to stay near ponies that are more than willing to have love stolen away voluntarily. He/she may just be deluding him/herself about his/her nature, but it's going to take some cautious coaxing to get this little bug to emerge from her cocoon. There's also a strange sense of morality creeping about inside of Pincer While he/she insists on stealing love to feed, Pincer will invariably ask before-hand if he/she can feed, and then typically only on ponies that he/she trusts. While not averse to kindness, large displays of it put him/her ill at ease due to the worry that it might trigger the dreaded, uncontrollable change.
History/Background: From a young age, Pincer was ambitious. Fed stories of clever changelings deceiving hapless ponies to impress their ruler, Pin was obsessed with the idea of striking out into Equestria and bringing fame and glory to the changeling race. On this account, a young Pin made his/her way into the Everfree Forest and encountered an equally young Cobblestone. Seizing the opportunity to embed him/herself into the town as a spy, Pincer attempted to copy the little black colt, but by unfortunate (or rather fortunate) timing was caught by Cobblestone's older sister Waxworks, who eagerly brought both of her 'brothers' back home.
Having been inundated with stories of ponies as soft, harmless idiots just ripe with love for the taking, the little changeling was completely unprepared for the festival of nightmares that he/she found him/herself in the center of. Despite a strange, worrying lack of hunger for love during these events, Pincer took the first opportunity to flee Ponyville, terrified that ponies were something much different than previously thought.
After this, Pincer picked his/her way back to the Changeling Kingdom, lingering here and there along the journey in an attempt to abate his/her own sense of shame at failing to copy even a little pony. However by the time Pincer returned home, home wasn't home anymore. Every changeling Pincer had ever known had been replaced by a pastel-colored version of themselves, Queen Chrysalis was gone, and suddenly everything had been turned upside down. The reformed changelings eagerly tried to bring Pincer into the fold with kindness and compassion, but Pincer rebelled in terror, seeking refuge with the rebel changelings who clung to the old ways.
Gradually seeing even this small cluster of changelings being reformed, Pincer fled the changeling kingdom in a panic of desperation and fear, convinced that there'd come a day when he/she would be uncontrollably changed and that the old Pincer would be gone forever. Disgusted by his/her fear that now seemed to dictate his/her life, Pincer fixated upon a plan to return to Ponyville and the most terrifying place he/she had ever known. If, the changeling reasoned, it could conquer its fears, then it would be strong enough to resist being changed.
