-Personality Stuff-
Likes: Shiny objects (especially coins), ponies (they aren’t jerks like griffons), brooding alone (she’s an introvert at heart)
Dislikes: Stingy people (she’s a griffon so she likes money), bullies (she was picked on when young), Extroverts (they annoy her and tire her out),
Motivation: Helping ponies, earning money, being respected, being liked (hidden desire)
Strengths: Griselde is strong and fast, even by Griffon standards. She can fight her way out of even tough situations and has studied many books on tactics and warfare. She is smart enough to know when a situation is not in her favor and should retreat and also when a situation can be turned to her advantage.
Weaknesses/Flaws: Griselde’s innate griffon greed sometimes gets the best of her and she forgets that she helps ponies because it’s the right thing to do and not to earn money. Griselde is also quite shy and doesn’t make friends easily. This is mostly because she won’t admit to herself that she wants one. Griselde is quite proud and find it difficult to admit when she is wrong, unless given extended periods of time for self-reflection. Giselde also has an unpredictable temper. While bullying and crime anger her, sometimes she will be lenient and sometimes she will go ballistic.
Fears:
Overall Persona: While still a griffon and prone to griffon-like tendencies, Griselde is decidedly not like her kind. She believes strongly in community and in the responsibility of the individual to help the community. Sometimes this manifests in bursts of temper when she sees people being picked on or ponies being selfish. Griselde views ponies as being more worthy of admiration than griffons and it saddens her when ponies act in ways that contradict her belief in the good nature of ponies. In person, Griselde is introverted and shy. When she is not protecting ponies, she loves to curl up with a good book or just meditate. Large groups of people tend to intimidate her so she tends to fly away whenever she feels surrounded by a large group. Despite being someone who believes strongly in punishing evil wherever it appears, she doesn’t like to hurt ponies if she can avoid it. This impulse to talk her way out of fights has becomes much stronger since her release as she realizes she could be put in prison for far longer if she made a mistake similar to the first one got her imprisoned. Ponies like Pinkie pie who are overly exuberant tire Griselde out and she will often attempt to excuse herself from any situation where blatantly extroverted ponies are present. While some Griselde’s critics accuse her of arrogance, they couldn’t be further from the truth. Griselde doesn’t think of herself of anyone special, just someone trying to do the right thing. She holds no grudge against ponies for locking her up as she understands that mistakes have consequences.
History or Background: Griselde is from a family, which by pony standards is fairly rich, but by griffon standards is merely average. She was consistently teased for being bookish and shy instead of focusing on making more money for the family. Her parents didn’t pay this much mind as bullying based on how much money someone had is fairly common for griffons. Slowly, Griselde began to reject griffon culture, which she viewed as too selfish and money-based. She attributed the fall of Griffonstone into a state of squalor to griffon selfishness. She reasoned that without a sense of community, no species would be able to prosper. Unfortunately for Griselde, her hero complex resulted in making many enemies, especially in Canterlot where some noble and/or rich ponies resented the idea that their power and money no longer allowed them to circumvent the law. A small minority of rich Canterlot pony citizens rallied behind Griselde and her exploits and funded pro-vigilante campaigns, siting decreased crime in Canterlot as a justification for her further work. Not all rich ponies in canterlot where either pro-vigilante or corrupt; some rich ponies merely thought vigilantism to be a bad idea and others didn’t care one way or the other. Some of the average citizens of Canterlot, the café owners, the book lenders, the hotel clerks, were on her side, though cautious to express such sentiment openly. Ten years before the nightmare moon incident, Griselde badly injured a pony that was attempting to break into a house. It turned out the pony was the house’s owner and had merely forgotten their keys. Public opinion turned against her and her own parents, who had given her a modest stipend to live on, cut ties with her to avoid scandal. With no money for a proper legal defense, Griselde’s trial went poorly and she was sentenced to fifteen years in jail. While in jail, Griselde reflected on her actions and, after 11 or so year in prison, apologized publicly to the injured pony in front of Celestia herself. Celestia granted Griselde a pardon and she was released. Despite bring locked up, Griselde, never gave up her vigilante lifestyle. She believed that there was no shame in protecting the weak, only in being careless and attacking innocent citizens.
