-Personality Stuff-
Likes: Winning, cinnamon buns, (he has a big sweet tooth) interesting challenges, (he likes to see what he's capable of) running, hoofball (watching more than playing), reading.
Dislikes: Losing-Nobody likes losing, but he a special aversion to it because it makes him feel like a failure. feeling powerless-he spent too many years under the thumb of his parents and values his independence too much to ever be anypony's power but his own. Following rules (except in races)- Similar to his dislike of feeling powerless, rules make him feel restricted and controlled. cheaters, bullies, snobs, and large cities. (Canterlot in particular)- Large cities feel claustrophobic and restricting, not to mention full of the kind of ponies like his parents (stuffy, rule-following bores)
Motivation: Sleipnir loves to run more than anything. He has an undying competitive spirit that makes him want to test his limits every chance he gets. He hates being forced to stay in one place for a long time and gets restless if he does.
Strengths:.Sleipnir is ridiculously fast; perhaps about a quarter as fast as Rainbow Dash’s max flying speed. He is is also has a high amount of stamina, so he can run for quite a while before tiring. Sleipnir is also reasonably intelligent, having come from a family that could afford to give him a good education. He is quick-witted, funny and charming, making him an attractive prospect for companionship. Despite being not very tough, Sleipnir kicks very hard, no doubt a result of constant training and racing.
Weaknesses/Flaws:. Sleipnir is highly impulsive, making him annoying to be around at times. He sometimes acts or says things without thinking which can lead to hard consequences later. Sleipnir’s reaction of losing is highly immature. He will sulk for days if he loses a race (which he has on a few occasions, though not recently), and will often make up excuses when he loses. He will occasionally accuse ponies he races against of cheating, though he usually apologizes later. His friends have seen this side of him and though they don’t approve, they put up with him in the name of their long-held friendship.
Fears: Losing races, hurting ponies, police ponies, being forced to give up racing/running losing his ill brother
Overall Persona: Sleipnir is what you might expect from a racing pony, though not what you would expect of somepony born of aristocratic blood. He is passionate, cocky, well-intentioned show-off with a bit of a immature streak. Now that he has the means, he is also somewhat irresponsible with his money, often spending his money on cinnamon buns (his favorite snack) instead of things he needs. He is also highly impulsive, sometimes forgetting to do something simply because he saw something interesting he wanted to try or someone interesting he wanted to talk to. Despite being from money, he finds excessive displays of money and power distasteful. He shuns the haughty, pretentious ponies of Canterlot and other big cities in favor of more rural ponies that he feels are more honest with their feelings and less likely to screw someone over for something petty. It isn’t just the ponies in the cities he dislikes; cities are too small and confining for his taste and he has one too many high-speed collisions with ponies, fruit carts, wagons, and other things for his liking. He is also prone to getting tickets/citations for reckless endangerment, which he dismisses as ‘ridiculous rules to begin with’ Sleipnir is a rebel a heart; he avoids following as many rules as he can get away with and tends to associate rules with stiff boring ponies interested only in doing what their told. Despite being a rebel, he has an innate sense of right and wrong and hates it when people ‘pick on the little guy’ as he calls it. Any time he sees someone taking advantage of their strength or size to get something from someone smaller, he becomes very angry, very quickly.
History or Background: Sleipnir comes from an aristocratic unicorn family on his father’s side that has fallen on hard times and lost the majority of their fortune. Luckily, Sleipnir’s grandfather arranged a marriage to the heiress of the mixers fortune, a wealthy earth pony family who own a successful corporation making new various alcoholic beverages. When Sleipnir was 6, his brother got sick with a very severe case of the pony pox and never recovered. Because of this, Sleipnir was now the heir to both his father’s title and his mother’s wealth and was groomed for about 6 years to take over both positions upon the death of his parents. Wealth and privilege did not fit well on Sleipnir, who found Canterlot ponies stuffy and pretentious. Considerable pressure was brought to bear on Sleipnir to conform to the rules of etiquette that came with being rich and noble. The more pressure to conform was brought on him, the more Sleipnir wanted to escape Canterlot city life and live a life he would be happy in. At 8 years old, Sleipnir discovered he was a natural athlete while participating at a track and field event held at the private school he attended. From when on, he wanted to do hardly anything but race. He covertly trained and ran in races meant for foals his age. After winning his share of fame for winning consistently in the under 10 age group and earning the title of the fastest pony in Canterlot in the under age 10 category, his parents found out and promptly forbade him from racing in any further events. Sleipnir was devastated. A life without the exhilaration of running was not worth living in his eyes, so at age 13, he ran away from home, avoiding royal guards and police ponies sent to find him and living on the street. The last words he ever heard from his father were “If you walk out that door, you are dead to me; don’t ever come back!” During the time between adulthood and his teenage years spent on the street, he earned money as a courier of food for local take out restaurants. Any time he saved up enough money, he would pay the entry fee for the running of the leaves or similar events. When he was 16, he moved up to the professional circuit, the youngest pony to do so in 104 years. With his ‘graduation’ his victories became considerably more lucrative and Sleipnir was finally able to afford housing. Instead of buying a house, however, Sleipnir went from hotel to hotel, preferring not to be stay in any city for more than a week or two. On the professional running circuit he met fellow competitors Slip Stream and Afterburner; who enjoyed Sleipnir’s cavalier attitude towards life and easygoing attitude. He acquired the nickname 8-hooves from Afterburner who jokingly commented that Sleipnir runs like he has 8 hooves rather than 4. At 18, Sleipnir received crushing news: his parents had become ill. Sleipnir attempted to return his parent’s home, in Canterlot only to be blocked by police ponies. Though he had no proof to speak of, Sleipnir was convinced that his younger brother had co-opted law-enforcement by means of bribery. Sleipnir is sure that his brother is simply attempting to block any attempt to legally inherit what was due to him as eldest surviving brother.
