-General Stuff-
Name: Gwendolyn
Nickname/Alias(es): Gwen, Gwenny
Race: Griffon
Gender: Female
Age: Mare
Additional Status: She has to wear a pair of glasses to see anything decently. They don't fit well over her beak, and she's constantly adjusting them. Because she's a griffon, and she's written assorted articles for many different papers around Equestria, she's gained some attention in the journalism community. It isn't true fame, and she has no huge reputation, but a minor, positive one.
-Physical Stuff-
Pelt Color: Primarily, her fur is silvery gray.
Mane/Tail Color and Style: Her feathers are all a darker shade of gray than her fur, and the same color as the tuft on her tail. Most of the feathers on her head are short and neat, but they rise into fluffy groups at the sides that resemble an owl's ear tufts. Her tail is particularly soft and fluffy.
Eye Color: Yellow
Other Scars/Markings: Her entire body, fur and feathers, is heavily freckled with darker spots.
Physique: She's a fair deal smaller and scrawnier than most griffins. There's nothing particularly lithe about her, either; she's mostly bone, not muscle.
-Social Stuff-
Current Residence: Technically, she owns a small home in Griffonstone. However, she spends most of her time traveling from city to city in Equestria, always looking for the next big story - nothing very interesting happens where she's from, in her opinion. Nothing she can write about, anyway.
Job: Freelance journalist.

-Personality Stuff-
Likes: Writing; her one true passion. She dabbles in fiction and poetry, but her biggest calling is writing to inform - writing about what's really going on in the world around her. This is why she became a journalist. | Winds; the breezier and chillier, the better. It reminds her of Griffonstone, and all of the good memories she has there from when she was younger. | The sky; night, day, clear, or cloudly - as long as she can look up and see the sky, know she's in an open space, she's filled with a happy feeling. The feeling one gets when they're at home. | Coffee; it's saved her from falling asleep mid-story many a night. Not only that, but she genuinely enjoys the flavor. She's been drinking it for a long time, and considers herself an expert on the quality of the drink. | Shiny things; clearly a result of the griffin history and culture, she loves collecting pretty trinkets made of gold or jewels. But she usually loses them...
Dislikes: Dark places; not being able to see is something that really creeps her out. If she can't tell what's around her, even if her surroundings are familiar, she gets frightened. | Enclosed spaces; she's more than a little claustrophobic, and can't stand rooms that are too small, too dark, or without enough windows. Being unable to have an open space around her and being unable to see the sky are like torture for her. | Crowded ares; similar to how she doesn't like enclosed spaces. When there are too many beings around her, ponies and griffins alike, she gets nervous - it feels the same as being trapped, closed in. | Liars; she's quite a naturally honest character herself, and she's learned through interviews and observations how to detect a lie - and she hates it when anyone gives her one. | Sugar; although small sweet snacks are fine with her, too much is bothersome. Since she never had much when she was younger, she didn't adjust to it, and now she just isn't a huge fan. | Thunderstorms; they keep her trapped inside, and she doesn't like getting wet. Hearing thunder scares her, as does seeing flashes of lightning. When she looks up, she sees only the dark gray, no sky - and she always has the irrational fear that she'll never see that sky again. | Surprises; although she isn't entirely against the positive ones, she hates being blindsided and prefers to know about what's going to happen beforehand.
Motivation: Mostly, her writing. Finding the hottest news and delivering it to whoever she can. When she wakes up in the morning, her first thought is:what story will I find today? Journalism motivates her to move on, to meet new ponies, to do new things - she would still be shut up alone in her home in Griffonstone without it.
Strengths: Her curiosity; it tends to get her the answers that nobody else can find, and helps her when it comes to thinking outside of the box. | Her cleverness; whenever there's a puzzle to solve or a problem to work through, she can quickly and efficiently figure it out. | Her adaptability; be it finding herself in a new environment, meeting a stranger for the first time, or being introduced to a game that she's never played before - she has a knack for figuring everything out, then using it to her advantage.
Weaknesses/Flaws: Easily pressured into or out of decisions, terrible at working under pressure, not good at talking to others, not good at managing her emotions, quick to become anxious, and bad at making important choices.
Fears: The dark, enclosed spaces, crowds, and thunderstorms.
Overall Persona: Gwendolyn is a relatively nice griffon; but she's still prone to snapping and getting angry, on occasion, usually when she's not getting the information she wants, or when she's merely been bothered or annoyed to the point of not being able to handle it. However, she greatly prefers to keep quiet. Instead of talking and interacting with others, she watches them talk and interact among themselves - observing, but rarely acting. Ultimately, she pursues the truths behind everything and everyone - and not only does she want to know these truths, but she also wishes to share them with everyone else who's willing to listen. Even if this means sharing something that would hurt someone else. She values revealing secrets over keeping another's secrets safe or hidden, which proves problematic when it comes to sharing secrets among friends. For this reason, many could be reluctant to get close to her, but she's not bothered. She doesn't need others to thrive, nor does she mind being alone. Growing up, she didn't have many friends, but it didn't matter to her then and it still doesn't matter to her now. Gwen finds peace in solitude, and she also believes that getting too close to someone could give her a bias and taint the truths that she writes into lies; which would be against her morals, and she would despise herself for doing so.
She tends to see concepts in black or white instead of shade of gray - for example, instead of looking at things subjectively, she merely divides them between two categories. Right or wrong. Truth or lie. Good or evil. This may make her seem like she's impossible to sway, too focused on her opinion; but, in actuality, she merely doesn't allow any exceptions to the rules that she's set up for herself to make the world easier to understand. But she, herself, is not as perfect as she'd made the world around her out to be. Because she's not good at casual conversation, she's easily frightened by others and will instantly become anxious in many situations. Once she's scared, anxious, or under pressure in general, she's unable to perform even the most basic mental processes, like making simple decisions or doing easy tasks. If it weren't for her desire to find the truths in the world, to hunt down another story, she would probably be shutting herself off from the world in Griffonstone - but her journalist adventures in Equestria have taught her a few lessons about the importance of being able to interact with others, and she's always trying to improve her social skills and control her natural temper even better than she already does.
History/Background: Born in Griffonstone, she always stayed to herself and didn't attempt to interact with others, in a negative or a positive way. But there was one thing that always made her seem different from the others - her curiosity. She always wanted to learn something new about the world, and she wanted to know the one true reason for why it was happening. Whenever anyone wanted to know something, they'd ask her. She became the head of local gossip. But becoming a gossip wasn't what she really wanted, and when she got older, she realized her calling. She left her home in Griffonstone, and left behind her old ways, so she could start anew in Equestria - as a journalist, spreading the truth and sharing the real story wherever she could.
