The House of Enchanted Comics [RPiM] [Dead]

   After hearing rumors about the great selection for weeks, you’ve finally managed to make it. All in all, the place seemed a lot more impressive in people’s wild descriptions. And yet, here you stand, in front of a quiet, unassuming comic shop in Canterlot’s shopping district. From the outside, you’d be forgiven for believing that the place was closed, with windows completely blocked by massive stacks of precariously balanced comic books, and blinds drawn tightly over the door. Only the occasional exit of a group of excited patrons and a small sign reading “Open: Limit 6 customers” betray the fact that the shop is open.
  
   After a few moments a trio of ponies exits the shop.
“That was great, you guys. We should totally come back next week!”
“I know! No wonder the place only allows six at a time.”
“It was like I was there!”

Inside the shop are massive stacks and piles of comic books, filling boxes, filling shelves, and threatening to overwhelm anyone who enters with the sheer volume of books.  After a bit of wandering, you eventually reach the front desk of the shop, helmed by a young Unicorn named Page Turner.

“Ah!” the Unicorn says as you shuffle into view. “The next group of customers is here already! Welcome, welcome, to the Comic Shop of Wonders! I’m Page Turner, your guide. Is there any sort of specific genre you’re looking for today? Of course, we have the classic cape capers, including this great new volume of “Mutants and Maresterminds” in just last week.” At this, she points to the wall behind you, lined with superhero comics stacked around the new feature book. “Of course, if you’re looking for something a little more grounded in reality, we have the newest “Ars Unicornia” available over here in the Magic Section. Finally, if you’re looking for something with a little more, *ahem* bite, we’ve got a great new “Whinnystrad” book here in the horror section. Is there anything you’d like to give a look?”

Ash wagers Page Turner's suggestions, all while prodding her mind of why there would only be 6 customers allowed to enter at once. Maybe there isn't enough space in the shop? I wonder what's so interesting about this strange little comic shop that would make those ponies want to come back next week? Couldn't they just purchase all the comics they wanted at once? Questions were bumbling all over in Ash's head, andso she took a deep breath and cleared her mind; for the moment.

"Hmm, well, I don't think I've ever heard of 'Ars Unicornia', maybe I'll give that a look?" She says and peeks behind the young unicorn, remembering that 3 customers had left the shop. Right, so that means that the most amount of ponies in there has to be 3,so at most there should be 4 ponies in here excluding Page Turner. "Ya, Ars Unicronia sounds interesting!" Ash says again more confidently, taking a look around. So many books, and most of all, comic books! My, I guess that more than six ponies here at once would make a big mess, and that makes seven including Page Turner. "Right, I should probably follow you to the shelf, as I have no way to get there on my own. Do you own this cozy comic book store, or do you work here as an employee?" Ash asks, musing at the idea that such a young mare could keep up such a fine bussiness as this one.

( I'm not sure how this would work, but can we just say that if Page turner leads her anywhere Ash follows her, and if they stay at the desk she stays there? I find this type of interaction with this type of forum RP slightly complicated )

Spearmint looked a little skeptical seeing the group of three excited ponies exit the comic book shop - it was just a regular shop, but they seemed as if it was the absolute time of their lives - and something didn't add up, with that in mind. But the only way to figure out what didn't add up was to enter. Pulling at her scarf to make sure it was tied correctly, and adjusting her earmuffs - the Pegasus would walk over to the entrance before speaking up. "Limit 6 customers? What kind of place limits their customers-- oh."

She cut herself off as she opened the door and saw the sheer volume of comic books there. That was why. One too many ponies, she thought, and this place would become as messy as if a tornado went through here... yet Page Turner's greeting didn't fall on deaf ears, either, as Spearmint waved a hoof in greeting, as she was smiling as well.

Spearmint listened to what Page Turner had to say, but it wasn't long after Page Turner was done that she was off again, looking at the back wall and trying to pick out what she'd want to read, muttering to herself, but it was loud enough that anypony who would want to listen in on her musings could very well do so. "Mutants and Maresterminds, huh? I haven't picked up a comic book in ages, I might as well start now!" Who knows, it could have been good for her flight training, giving her more ideas if anything. Picking up the newest comic book, Spearmint opened it and nearly immediately started reading... as she would occasionally look around her as well, to see if anypony else would show up. Hay, if they wanted to read the same book, Spearmint's smile could have indicated that sharing was something she'd do in a heartbeat...

Ash notices a blue pegasus mare move off to another part of the comic shop, hearing her mention something about 'Humans and MaresterMinds'. Intrigued by the mare's interest in such a genre and comic book, Ash trots over. She thinks that she sees the mare lifts her head and looks at her sometimes, but she just concludes that her imagination playing tricks on her. Ash looks over the mare's shoulder as to look at what may be so interesting that has this blue pegasus entranced in this specific comic.

"Uh-umm, hello there, may I ask what comic you are reading? I heard you mumble about one of the comics Page Turner suggested, but I wasn't sure. Which volume are you reading at the moment?" Ash asks, trying to get a better view at the little squares of comics on the pages, not able to make out the pictures very well. She squints her eyes a bit, making out the words and images a bit more clearly. "This looks interesting," She muses. " Would you mind if I just stood over here reading it with you? I'm interested in how this chapter ends." She inquires, laughing under her breath at some of the jokes being made by the characters in the book.

As Ash finishes reading the last few sentences on the page, she looks back to the mare. " Well, that was a nice read, it's great to have a laugh now and then. If it's not rude of me, may I ask what your name may be?" She says, pausing. As she takes another look at all the books piling in the shop, she suddenly remembers that she should tell her name, too. "Well, my name is Ash Nightblossom, it's nice to meet you." She says, and fetches a small oatcake from her saddle-bag, devouring it in a few bites. Remiding herself she was not alone, she quickly remembered her manners, " Would you like some?" She asks her, ready to fetch some of the snack from her saddle-bag.

Secure Clasp scanned the shop in front of him, windows full of colourful titles, a board above the door engraved with the shop's name and a small sign below it stating a customer limit. This puzzled Clasp. Given the size of the shop, even if it was full of wares, it should have been big enough for far more than six ponies. His train of thought was interrupted by three exited looking ponies exiting the shop. The reason for this excitement also confused Clasp. Why would someone get so excited from buying comic books?

It was at this point that Clasp entered the store and was immediately taken aback by the number of comics in the room and the total disarray in which they were stored. It was at this point the group was addressed by a young unicorn who gave them a list of suggestions about what they could read. The zebra standing in from of him was the first to speak. "I agree, Ars Unicornia sounds good but can I start with the first volume?" Clasp asked, waiting for the pony to lead on. 

Then, one of the others in the group, a light green pegasus wearing a scarf and earmuffs mumbled something about Mutants and Maresterminds and trotted off to one of the many bookshelves in the store, followed by the zebra. Unconcerned by this, Clasp turned his attention back to the shop keeper "So... could you show me where the Ars Unicornia books are? I would try and find them myself but I can't make head or tail of where anything is in here."

Episode I-"Mutants and Maresterminds"

"Ah yes, sweetie, That's a very popular one this week" Page Turner says to the Zebra. "Let me get it for you. And a copy for you as well." she says, noticing the Unicorn also had an interest in it. As she pushed herself through the crowded isles, she noticed the young Pegasus opening a copy of 'Mutants and Maresterminds'.
"My, oh my, It appears the books have already made their first selection." she says with a grin. Suddenly, there was a blinding flash of light from within the pages of the book, growing brighter and brighter, pulling the ponies closer and closer, bringing them into the book itself. After a moment, the bright light fades, leaving nothing in sight. Empty nothingness. Just 'White' in all directions. You begin to make out shapes and outlines. The sounds of a bustling metropolis echo throughout the atmosphere. Color finally begins to return, and you find yourselves in a massive city on a bright summer’s day. Ponies of all kinds stroll along, enjoying the fine weather. Almost immediately as you get your bearings, two things stand out. First, is your remarkable change of clothes. Whatever you were wearing before has been replaced with a fancy new outfit, straight from the pages of your favorite superhero comic!

(See where this is going? Along with your post, You may now name your "Superhero" and describe their "Superpower". No stats need be assigned, and any super power that isn't TOO overpowered will do. Get creative! The second thing that "Stands out" comes next.)

Pandicorn You're doing fine.  I'm sure you'll get the hang of how interractions work.  It really isn't THAT much different from the typical RP here.
AND although I didn't intend for people posting multiple times between my updates, after you did so, I'm going to allow this, as a way for your characters to communicate between updates.  Makes sense actually.

@haswit So long as your post doesn't interfere with a previous post of aonther player, you may choose whichever point you'd like your characters interractions to begin (Unless you are referring to establishing turn order.  The time zone issue will make that complicated)

Clasp nodded at the unicorn's response and watched as she walked down the cluttered passage between bookshelves. Suddenly, a bright flash of light burst from where the unicorn had wandered to and he felt himself, despite all attempts to stay still, being dragged towards it, and into a comic book that had fallen on the floor. For a while, there was nothing, just empty space like a blank page of a book.

When the world around him came into focus, Clasp saw that he was in a busy city, with skyscrapers all around. He also noticed that he was wearing something, a costume of sorts. Trotting over to a nearby window to get a look at himself, he saw that he was wearing a black tail suit, shirt and bow tie, as well as a very dramatic theatre mask. He immediately recognised it as the outfit of The Performer, a comic super hero he had been a fan of as a colt. A thought rushing to his head, he murmured "What if..." A spiral of yellow light enveloped his body and when it dissipated a donkey was standing in his place. "Oh my goodness!" For whatever reason, he had become The Performer and had inherited his unique shape shifting ability!

Reverting back to his normal form and turning around, Clasp noticed the zebra and the pegasus who had also been in the store, along with another pony who must have come in behind him, and wandered over to where the were standing. "Um... Hello, I don't think we were properly introduced. My name is Secure Clasp," he remembers the costume he is wearing "or The Performer, I guess. Who are you three? And do you have any idea what's going on?"

Ash looks around her in awe, seeing two other ponies whith her, which she imagined to be having the same expression.
Her gaze returns to her clothing as she picks her hoof up, and she examined it. The material had a rubbery feeling, like it could fit on anybody, but it still felt soft, which made it more comfortable. Thankfully, it was loose enough that Ash could breathe with ease and move around effortlessly. It was a soft pine green color, and closer to the edges of the suit became darker. She raises a hoof to her face, feeling a mask banding across the her eyes, but th mask had holes for her eyes. Her hooves were bare.

Ash takes in her surroundings, and realizes she was standing in the middle of the road. A small group of ponies in casual attire was approaching, and Ash starts to panic. Resorting to the tactic she had used as a filly, she covers her eyes with her hoof, mumbling "If I can't see them, they can't see me..." Ash opens one of her eyes, expecting that one of the ponies would start laughing at her foalish trick. Ash gasped as she saw that they passed by, not even paying attention to her, as if... as if they couldn't see her! Ash put down her hooves and took a good look at them. I can barely see them! Her hooves seem to meld with her surruondings, taking on the colour of the road. She could only see them if she squinted her eyes and really focused, then she could see a soft green glow outlining her body, but she guessed only she could see that.

She sighed, wondering what to do next. I should probably turn visible, it's not like there's any reason to stay unseen like this. Ash could feel a ripple over her suit, as if every fibre just flipped. She could see her hooves and her suit again. She turned her head back to her companions, seeing that they wore something similar of heroic apparel. "I wonder what we're doing here?" She asks aloud.

(Sorry about the late reply. I had some Internet issues and I pretty much used my phone for this post. So no color )

Storm Wind began to trot on down the street after a good flight from Cloudsdale. But had almost missed the place that he came here to Canterlot for. He had been hearing of this place from ponies before and wanted to check it out. By the looks of there were already ponies inside and thought that it was going to start without him. He rushed in at the last second and saw nothing but white.

Just then he heard the noises if a city. Manehatten perhaps? No, it sounded busier then that. He couldn't help but look around seeing what looked like...super ponies? Well they looked like it anyway. He decided to go over to say hi to them but within seconds his vision flashed and then nothing. He started to feel pain and pulled his head back from...well a wall. "The hay?" He said and looked down to see he was wearing some outfit he didn't remember putting on.

Wait he remembers this outfit he looked at himself more to see that he was none other than...Lightning. Storm loved this super pony for his extreme speeds. Now he gets to be that pony. "Heh, cool."

Oh that is right he had almost forgotten about the other ponies that had on suits on. In a flash he was right next to them almost crashing into them. He would need to be careful with his newfound power and get used to it. "Oh hey guys, I don't think we met yet. I had almost missed it but came in at the last second apparently. The name is Storm Wind...or uh Lightning seeing that I am him anyways. So uh where are we?"

Spearmint seemed a little too absorbed by the comic book to really reply to Ash, who had just wandered up to her. In fact, she had just managed to tear her eyes off of the comic's pages as she caught sight of the brilliant flash of light - enough to make her cry out in confusion as the next thing she saw was pure white - she didn't understand a thing about what happened, but as she began to see the world around herself again, she seemed absolutely startled to see three more ponies around her, wearing what appeared to be superhero costumes...?

Suddenly, Spearmint shivered a little, as she scoffed at seeing one of the ponies move at lightning speed... into a wall. But her mind quickly took over. "Oh, man, a winter weatherpony being cold? Minty, you've really done it now, what is this, the feather flu?" She muttered to herself, quickly looking at herself... and her jaw nearly hit the floor as she saw what she was wearing - a familiar suit of ice blue and white, with snowflakes patterned throughout... could it be? All of those times where she read about that wintry Pegasus that not only brought winter, much like she loved to do - but it seemed like she was the winter itself - and she couldn't help but exclaim to herself aloud. "The Blizzard?! Unreal..." Her eyes were shining like a falling snowflake, but before long, there was something else that caught her attention...

One of the ponies, she had met before, and she couldn't believe it even after he had introduced herself, as she looked to "Lightning", as he referred to himself as, but to her... who was behind the disguise was just a bit more important... "Storm Wind...? Is that... that really you?" She asked, as she couldn't contain her grin any longer, as she introduced herself. "Guess I should clear the air... I'm Spearmint, or... the Blizzard, I guess... I, um... what the hay happened to us, and... more importantly, where are we? I don't think... this is... Canterlot, is it?"

She scratched the back of her head with her left front hoof at that... grinning sheepishly. What the hay was happening... was anypony's guess.

Secondly, it’s difficult to miss the booming sound of a disembodied voice somewhere in the skies above:

"The City of Maretropolis! Home to the legendary League of Heroes! Including The Performer, Who has the Ability to transform into other creatures. Lightning, who moves as fast as his name. Ghost, who can render herself nearly invisible, and The Blizzard, with the ability to create ice and snow.
When last we saw our heroes, they had uncovered the evil plans of the villainous 'Windigo' to spread an everlasting winter across first the entire city of Maretropolis, and then the world, forcing any who wish to survive to serve him! Will they succeed in stopping this mad stallion? Find out, in this exciting edition of 'Mutants and Maresterminds'!"

Suddenly, a chill wind overtakes the city. There, in the sky! It can only be the maniacal airship of Windigo, the master of ice!

“Ice to see you again, foalish citizens of Maretropolis! I, Windigo, will soon rule this city in my icy grip! Feel free to bring your offerings, tributes, and other assorted grovelling to my lair at the Maretropolis Skating Rink, or risk getting left out in the cold! Mwahahahahahahahahaha!”

And now, it becomes obvious. SOMEHOW, you are living the adventures of the comic book. Many questions may be going through your mind, like 'How is this happening?', or 'How do I get out of here?' but the only thing anypony knows for sure is that there is a clear set goal: Stop Windigo, A villain who is as dangerous as his puns are awful.

Clasp stood transfixed as the voice of the 'narrator' rang all around him. He could do nothing but listen, taking in as much information from the words as possible. As the speech stopped he spotted what could only be the airship of the 'villainous Windigo' looming in the sky. Turning to the other ponies he began to speak with an urgent tone "Okay, as much as I want to figure out how in Celestia's name this is happening, that..." he gestures to the object in the sky "... Probably takes priority. Does any one have a plan, 'cause I've got nothing." Clasp looked at the three ponies in front of him. Two pegasi, a zebra and a unicorn, who have by chance become the 'League of Heroes' and tasked with protecting an entire city of... An idea popped into his head. "Wait, I think I've got something. If we want to beat this guy we have to get closer to him. We can fly up, I'll become a griffon or something and carry Ghost. As we're flying, Blizzard can protect us from whatever is thrown at us since her powers seem very similar to Windigo's and we work from there. How does that sound?" Once Clasp finished talking, light consumed his body and he emerged as a large griffon, talons ready and wings outstretched.

Storm's ears perked up as he heard some pony mention his name. He turned his towards the female pegasus. He looked over this stranger for a bit but then realized this was no stranger at all. Wait a second, he never forgets a voice. Looking at her eyes only confirmed it. "Spearmint? Is that really you?" He was about to rush over to her but then caught himself, only skidding forward a bit. "Woo, almost ran into you there. He looked her in the eyes once more. He had missed her company, pretty much one of the most preferred ponies he would hangout with.

If a pony was perceptive they would know that Storm was admiring her. Before Storm could continue he heard a voice from above. After hearing the strange voice Storm spoke up, "I will not get used to that." It seems though that they are some legendary league of heroes. Storm thought that was pretty cool. He looked up to see something in the air, an airship maybe?

He heard one of the mysterious ponies speak up and heard him out with his idea. "Ahem, well yes there is that part of the plan." Though he didn't see his own role in all of this. "But uh, we got to know what we are doing instead of flying up there blindly. We got to plan for the worst on what could be up there as we get there and what could be on that ship...so any suggestions?"

[Pandicorn]

Ash covers her ears as the voice of the narrarator booms over the city. Ash listens to The Preformer's plan, nodding along with his idea. "Hmm, well, I think that's a pretty good start. I just hope that since we're in a comic book, no real harm can come to us." Ash speaks up, cringing at the ideathat this was as real as real life, hoping it had about the same effect as a dream. Well, I guess it's no wonder those three fillies wanted to come back again, this is an... amazing experience.

Ash's ears perks up as Lightning mentioned coming up with the plan when we get up onto the roof. "Hmm, well, I can make you all invisible when we get there, but we would all have to be in direct contact of eachother, or else it won't work. That should help us, should we go with the element of surprise. I suggest we try to find her weakspots and blindspots, as well as her strengths. This would help us have an advantage of knowing our enemy." Suddenly, an idea pops into her mind. " OH! Hey, preformer, can you by any chance turn into something that breathes fire? Maybe a dragon?" Ash asks, guessing that it could work well against the Windigo.

Ash thinks a bit more, but that's all that comes into mind. " Well, I'm guessing, according to my knowledge of urban architecture, which is not very good if I do say so myself, that the roof is gonig to be in the shape of a square of rectangle, and if we have any luck they will have a few big metal... 'boxes' for air conditioning and electricity/power. Now, that we have a few advantages of our own and the start of a plan for how to and when we get there, we need a serious plan for what's gonig to go down, and our emergency move incase we need to regroup or retreat. Which I highly doubt since the heroes always win in comic books." Ash says, calculating the happenings. Mumbling, only a bit louder than a whisper, she says "I hope we're the good guys..." Looking to the other heroes, she hoped they could defeat the Windigo, even if it was just a comic book.

Clasp nodded at Storm's response and became a pony again. "You're right. I was just trying to get out some ideas." Then Ash began to speak. His brain whirred, putting together her ideas into what he thought to be a pretty good plan. "Brilliant! That all works! So, we head up to roof by those metal stairs over there. Then I become a dragon and you can all get on my back, resulting in direct contact allowing Ghost to make us all invisible. Following that I can fly stealthily up to the airship protecting us from Windigo with fire and help from Blizzard. If anything goes drastically wrong, I can get us away pretty quickly." Clasp paused to observe the reactions of the group. " Now, there are only three problems with this plan. One: when I transform we will have to become invisible almost instantly or we'll be noticed. Two: when Blizzard uses her powers and even more so when I breathe fire our cover will be blown. And finally, Three: I have absolutely no idea how to fly."
