-Personality Stuff-

Likes: Being an intellectual pony, Secure Clasp loves nothing more than to have smart conversation and debate topics of current significance. As well as knowledge in general, he is a particular fan of astronomy. He likes to have something to focus on, otherwise he is easily distracted. He enjoys brisk walks, especially on cold, clear nights, and swimming. In terms of food, Clasp really likes things that contain citrus fruits (particularly lemons) and tea. He is constantly on the look out for a decent lemon tea but has not found one as of yet. He likes music with a good beat and classical music more than anything, but has a soft spot for jazz.
Dislikes: Clasp really doesn’t like ponies being stupid. Because of his own serious nature he finds tolerating idiocy difficult, especially when the pony seems as though they are doing it on purpose to attract attention. He dislikes large social occasions, such as parties, and hates being the centre of attention. Despite the fact he enjoys swimming, he hates travelling on boats, because of their instability. He also dislikes graffiti, be it on walls or in books, as he feels it creates unnecessary disorder and ugliness. He is secretly slightly envious of the Pegasus ability to fly. Finally, he greatly dislikes his brother because of what happened in the past.
Motivation: To put it in the words of his grandfather: “It's a wise man who understands that every day is a new beginning, because boy, how many mistakes do you make in a day? I don't know about you, but I make plenty. You can't turn the clock back, so you have to look ahead.” Clasp wants to live life to the fullest, making every day worth something, learning as much as he can and enjoy his time on the tiny planet known as Equestria. As a side note, he wants to meet somepony who is capable of breaking one of his lock spells and/or creating a lock he can't open.
Strengths: To his knowledge, Secure Clasp is the greatest lock maker in all of Equestria. He has never met anyone who could break one of his locks. He is equally talented at opening locks, the same circumstance applying. He is also very capable in the crafts of woodworking and metalworking/casting. When focused he works exceedingly well and can get a lot done. He is very intelligent and organised (most of the time) and is very capable when it comes to puzzling situations because of his logical way of thinking. According to his brother, he is a natural with a sword.
Weaknesses/Flaws: Despite his ability when it comes to locks, his magical capabilities are fairly limited. He can only accomplish basic telekinesis and has never managed anything beyond that. Sometimes he can act like a know it all by correcting people. He is fairly easily distracted by small things and tends to procrastinate large tasks if he thinks he will find them difficult. Also, his perfectionism can make completing tasks hard. He is generally very socially awkward and doesn't talk much in group conversations. He is an absolutely awful cook.
Fears: One of Clasp's biggest fears is being helpless. Whether this is relating to a friends predicament or his own, the idea of having to observe and do nothing terrifies him. His other great fear is his brother. After all the problems caused many years ago, Clasp knows nothing about what happened to his brother, but is well aware that he could return at any time and cause as many problems as he did last time. Also, he is constantly wary of stone statues (and could have swore that one just moved).
Overall Persona: Overall Persona: Secure Clasp is a lone wolf of sorts. He keeps himself to himself and doesn’t mind being in his own company. Because of this, he doesn’t make a concentrated effort when making friends and as a result doesn’t have very many. However, to those he does have, he is very loyal. He is generally very willing to help his friends and dislikes general meanness between friends, even if it is just a joke. Clasp general tries to be very unassuming about appearance when meeting new ponies, but first impressions can affect his opinions a lot. He will often hold a grudge to anypony who rubs him the wrong way on their first meeting. Because of his upbringing in the ‘posh’ districts of Trottingham he tries to behave politely, respectfully and chivalrously and dislikes those who act impolitely. Another quality that comes from his upbringing is his vast knowledge and thirst to expand. As his father being the senior librarian, he always had access to lots of information in the form of books. However, this often results in him being a ‘know it all’ because he tends to correct the incorrect statements made by ponies in his presence, which gets on their nerves.

When it comes to work, or any task for that matter, Clasp is quite a perfectionist often spending more time on things than is necessary to get them exactly right. Whilst this does ensure that most of the work he does is of a very high standard it can also reduce the amount of time he has for other things and put him behind on other projects. He likes to be in a tidy, orderly environment but will ignore this desire if he can’t be bothered, doesn’t have time or large social pressure dictates otherwise.

History/Background: Secure Clasp was born in the city of Trottingham to Dusty Tome, the senior librarian at the Trottingham Central library, and Earthen Broth, a soup chef at a resteraunt in the town centre. He has a very good relationship with his parents. Growing up, they were strict but also kind and very trusting. The put a lot of effort into teaching him the good manners and habits that he has today. One of his greatest influences was his grandfather on his mother's side, Lunar Chronometer. He was an Earth pony and a clock maker and taught Clasp many valuable life lessons. He also taught him woodworking and metalworking, both skills that he values greatly. His relationship with his brother was a complicated one. Steel Scabbard is six years older than his younger brother but tended to treat him as though he were the same age. This meant very little patience and care which lead to a lack of respect from both of them. However, at times Steel could be very caring to his brother. One example of this would be the time when their parents went away, on holiday, for a week leaving Clasp under his brother's care. During this time Steel was very protective and caring towards his brother, even teaching him use a sword (which Clasp was a natural at, according to his brother.)

Clasp was taught by scholars at the Trottingham Central library, giving him a very expansive knowledge of the world. He gained the lock of his cutie mark when he accidentally locked his parents in their room with a spell that his father couldn't break. The key appeared several hours later when, after some help from his brother, he cast a counter spell to unlock the door. At the age of 15, something went terribly wrong. His brother got into a massive argument with his parents, the topic of which Clasp cannot remember. It resulted in his brother leaving. He has not been heard from to this day and the mention of his name is enough to make his mother cry and put his father in a bad mood. Because of this, he now hates his brother.
Six months previous to the present day, his grandfather died of old age. This affected Clasp a lot. He became very depressed and reclusive, not eating very much and almost turned to self-harming. Luckily, his parents managed to help him out of it and he has learned to live with his grief, allowing him to move forward. He is now about to move to Ponyville in order to make some new friends and to pursue his ambition of becoming a locksmith. His life is looking up and he can't wait to continue it.
