-Personality Stuff-
Likes: He's always loved a good thunderstorm, frequently braving the weather to enjoy watching particularly strong storms to observe the electricity arcing through the air. He finds most weather patters have interesting side effects and enjoys using these to test out various theories. (He once tried to combine a rainbow with a mini tornado to se if he could.) Since the warm reception at his school, he's had a keen sense of humour when it comes to playing pranks. Most notably he once redirected the cross country team by moving some of the trail markers, getting them to charge through the girls locker room. after disguising the entrance to look like a regular cloud.
Dislikes: When Forge focusses on something, nothing gets him in a bad mood like a sudden interruption, something his classmates became aware of when they toyed with one of his experiments whilst forge was getting lunch. Having gotten an interesting reading from the test, he spent the following day trying to recreate the result. When his friend finally admitted that they had changed his results, he promptly destroyed his equipment in a annoyance. Because of this, he now despises anyone touching either his work tools or messing with his experiments.
His logical approach to things has a downside, Forge has an intense dislike of not knowing an answer to a question someone poses, finding it embarrassing to be considered below par in any area.
No one knows why he hates onions, but if they've been near any of his food, he feels rather ill at the thought.
Motivation: Forge is always interested in learning something new, whether its how the weather can interact to create unique and rare patterns, or utilising something to improve his craft. He's highly interested at finding a way to combine the two and someday hopes to find a way to strengthen his craft combining both interests.
Strengths: When dealing with something of importance or interest to Forge, he will become highly focussed, to the point of not remembering to eat meals until he's satisfied that he has fulfilled exactly what he was working towards, or that he has tried to the best of his ability. With his training in the academy, his natural size, and his blacksmith apprenticeship, he has a bulkier frame than most others, able to lift more than any other in his class at the academy, balancing out his slow flying with his increased stamina. In a short race, he would be easily beaten, but long distance, or obstacle courses are where he excels.
Those few people who stick by him through both thick and thin will find he will do his utmost to not let them down, no matter the situation. He's well known for going above and beyond for those people he feels are good friends.
Weaknesses/Flaws: His friends views mean a lot to him, but this can be a bad thing. If they start teasing him too much, he becomes despondent and prone to make simple mistakes. This can apply to others he does not know as well, as he views his own self worth as less important than others. Those who know the right buttons to press find that Forge has a short temper, and will become aggressive towards his surroundings if provoked. His own lack of self worth means he finds it hard to make friends initially, constantly believing that he is not really worth their time, and so erects barriers between himself and anyone new. He's known for not being one of the fastest fliers, something most Pegasus care a lot about.
Fears: Having already been tricked by his classmates when they changed his experiments results, one of his biggest fears now is being seen as a failure, or even worse, seen to be stupid. When he feels things are going wrong, he will often start to panic, especially if he doesn't know why as he believes people will quickly accuse him of being a fraud even if its unfounded.
Overall Persona: Forge has a rather tricky personality, Whilst he appears to have a very cheerful attitude and puts himself out for others, he has a very hard time actually letting those people in. Though most people see him as standoffish because of how he begins to shut down as they get to know him more, this is only because he has a deep-seated impression of not being good enough for his friends. Only a few people know about his insecurities, and only because they stuck with him through that period to show him just how a real friend should act.
His prank playing originally started as a conversation starter back in cloudsdale, the young Pegasus unsure how to approach people until he accidentally soaked a few classmates. Seeing the rest of the class enjoy the scene, he soon shifted into pulling pranks regularly, garnering attention and a small group of friends who regularly had fun together either tricking classmates, or just having a laugh as they watched each other compete. Though Forge was never one of the faster members of the group, he was one of the biggest, ensuring the group had little to worry about in the way of bullies.
Since graduating, most of his friends have gone around equestria leaving him with no one to rely on, something he finds increasingly daunting. He's received a small amount of training for his interest in forging metals, though he would like to test some theories. He's currently just moving to ponyville where he hopes to set up shop.
History/Background: Though never one of the faster fliers, Forge was known for his never give up attitude, plodding along until he finished his assigned task. He was often called up on his lack of speed, but was usually the one to ferry the racers who had gone too fast and worn themselves out back to the academy in cloudsdale.
Even back then, he was often called by the other students to help out with DIY jobs around the student accommodation, and was known for keeping several useful tools in his pockets. It was only during one of Cloudsdale's few severe storms that he found his calling. Being one of the studier pegusi, he was sent out to help the smaller, yet faster students back to safety. A stray lightning bolt struck one of the cities many lightning rods, melting it. With no safe route to channel the storm's electrical discharge, forge was forced to utilise his prized tools, pressing them deep into the melted metal to allow the lightning to ground safely so they could pass.
Returning the next day, he was intrigued to find the metal holding his tools fast, and was soon experimenting with applying heat to metal, seeing how to strengthen and shape it for better use, soon achieving his cutie mark. When he left the academy, he took his knowledge with him, looking for some place to utilise his skills practically.
