-Personality Stuff-
Likes:
Quiet: She prefers a quiet relaxed atmosphere to the bustle of crowded areas. Calming instrumental music is acceptable.
Candid Photography: App likes capturing ponies and places as they are, with preferably no artificial poses caused by ponies being self-conscious.
Collecting: She likes collecting trading cards and other small objects. Not to complete sets or because they may be worth a lot of bits, but just because she just likes them.
Salt Lick Kettle Chips: Not only do they taste delicious, but that cracking sound that drums through to her ears is quite delightful as well.
Reading: She wishes she could claim general reading is her interest, but she would be lying. Most of the reading she takes part in lately comes in the form of comic books, like Power Ponies and Calamity Colts.
Telling jokes: Even though she maintains an apathetic appearance, she surprises many by cracking the occasional joke, no matter how bad the pun may be, she loves them all the more for how bad they sound.
Dislikes:
Being rushed: If App hasn't had proper time to prepare something, her line of thinking breaks apart and she has a difficult time getting back on track
Insincerity: Not being able to catch on to subtlety makes communicating with other ponies difficult enough without also adding possible insincerity to the list. It just causes aggravation.
Hard labor: Menial tasks are good at providing time to think, hard labor, not as much. She'd rather avoid it if she can.
Motivation: Due to her questionable memory, Aperture Lily is driven to record events around her, big and small. Personal issues are not the only reason driving this need to snap so many pictures, she also understands the importance of distilling life and feelings into photographs, so future generations can get a bit of understanding of life before their time.
Strengths:
Observational: She tends to keep talking to a minimum, which frees up her time for a lot of observing and thinking. This can sometimes be confused with "Head-in-The-Clouds".
Knowledgeable: It may not necessarily be incredibly important things, but when App does remember things, every so often it can impress.
Altruistic: Despite a guise of apathy, she has strong emotions hiding beneath the surface and can't help but want to assist other ponies in need.
Weaknesses/Flaws:
Head in the clouds: Left to her own devices, Aperture Lily occasionally finds her head metaphorically stuck in the clouds. She is usually just a name call away from being pulled back to ground level. This can sometimes be confused with its best case scenario cousin: Observational.
Forgetful: Aperture Lily has a questionable memory, at least that's what ponies tell her. Whether or not this was caused by her over-reliance on photography as a tool to remember or a more deeply rooted problem has yet to be determined.
Frosty demeanor: Unbeknownst to her, she was given the nickname Chilly because of her frosty demeanor. Living life behind a camera cut her off from interacting with other ponies, and she has a hard time expressing feelings towards others. As a result, those who are unfamiliar with her believe she cares little for anything at all. The moments that contradict this are few and far between, and are usually preceded with bringing up her passion topics. When that happens, her eyes light up and her enthusiasm springs to life.
Lack of Subtlety: Another by-product of her lack of interactions made her almost oblivious to subtlety, and a lack of conveying it. She will rarely pick up on subtle hints from others. On the flip-side, she will very rarely display it, resulting in her being very upfront with what she has to say.
Obsessive: Aperture Lily's need to record events around her can occasionally border on obsessive, and she sometimes gets her priorities out of order trying to do so.
Fears: The fear creeping in the back of App's mind is that she will become so forgetful, that she will lose her important memories and and won't remember the experiences that make her who she is. Spiders are pretty awful too, let's be honest.
Overall Persona:
Aperture Lily is a mostly quiet unicorn. When her eyes aren't looking through the lens of a camera, they might be pointed upward in careful thought. Being on the outside of the crowds looking inward can be very rewarding for understanding some things that others may not notice, but it is not without its own problems. One of the things she has no use for (does she not know it even exists?) is subtlety. Any pony attempting it on her in an effort to convey a message in some secret manner will find it useless. Conversely, it is not a tool she has available to her either, which can result in her being more upfront than most ponies are used to. It isn't that she doesn't want to talk or be with others, she just prefers to keep those numbers to a minimum if she can. This is something that is also reflected in the friends she has, a close few are preferred to many casual friends.
Those who meet her for the first time find her demeanor to be cold and find the experience to be mildly uncomfortable. The ponies who have known her for longer know there is in fact a warm heart underneath, and it can't resist the urge to help others in need. App isn't trying to hide the warmth, but she has trouble expressing it on a surface level because of the time she takes to be by herself, and the other chunk of time reserved for taking photographs. Close, recurring friends are helpful to mitigate her forgetfulness, but when that's not a possibility, looking over pictures she's taken can help too. App loves taking photographs, especially when the subjects don't know they're being photographed. If it's not really representing natural poses and scenery, then why immortalize it on paper at all?
