As the day dawned over the just stirring town of Ponyville, a solitary figure made its way from the front gate of the crystalline tree/castle that sat where the library used to be. Holding a large list in one clawed hand and a basket in the other, the light glanced off of his purple scales and green fins.
Spike let out a massive yawn as he walked along, wondering why he wasn't currently still enjoying the last dredges of Luna's night from his bed, and then looked to his To-Do list for the day and sighed. Between the day-to-day tasks that he took on, and the settling of living conditions in the brand new castle, he was sure that he had been moving almost non-stop whenever he wasn't asleep, but he wasn't going to just refuse to help. After all who else was going to help Twilight sort all of the books that came pouring in from all sources to replenish her lost library? He smiled as he remembered when she opened the first box of books. Her smile made him think she was a filly on Hearth's Warming again. While the castle had been created with some of the furniture carved from the crystal itself, they had had a steady stream of mover ponies helping deliver furniture, banners, rugs, and an assortment of things to decorate.
Spike was still the one to run all of the small errands, which he took as a break from running around the castle all day, and also gave him the chance to greet some of the ponies around the town.
"Alright Spike," He muttered to himself, glancing at his list, "What is needed on the agenda today?"
"Twilight is out of quills, she was supposed to have a book delivered to the mail office in town, and I am running out of cooking ingredients." His stomach rumbled to remind him that he had yet to eat that morning either, and he drooled a bit as he imagined eating a small bit of the crystal the castle was made of. He shook his head.
"No, no eating the castle, I promised..."
Spike made his way to the market place, and began to look around, which wasn't easy for a dragon that stood only to the chest of most ponies. Thankfully the market wasn't too full, yet was already beginning to have a steady stream of ponies going about their own business. He heard a commotion from among the tents, and his curiosity got the best of him as he went over to check it out.
