Weird as it may seems, he is really fond of sweets. Not that he eat it a lot, but when the opportunity presents itself he just can't resist. Weird think is, that he loves not just taste of apples, but also the texture. It is not that weird, that he loves the colors of the night. Given his aspiration it can be easily understood. He hold all the guards in high honor. Well, most of them, anyway. If there is some lazy or ungrateful guard he is probably not going to like him much.
Dislikes:
Food: nuts, mushrooms
Colors: bright colors, mostly yellow and white
Ponies: mean, arrogant, untrustworthy
Animals: timberwolves, dogs
Activities: swimming, flying in winter, flying in strong winds
Well, as he loves the texture of apples, he just hate the texture of nuts and mushrooms. His dislike of bright colors is understandable. Since he is quite proud on his achievements, he feels really bad when he is put down by somepony, so he is trying to avoid ponies, that are mean or arrogant. His fear of canine is probably caused with bad memories. Well... more than memories apparently. And since he is not a star flier he avoids flying in harsh conditions if he is able to.
Motivations:
Well his greatest motivation is getting into Luna's royal guard, since he believed, that is was Luna's magic or guidance, that saved him back in the scary forest. It is more that a job for him, more like a calling.
Strengths:
He is very loyal and dedicated. When he starts something he is doing his very best to finish it. He is also very quick learner and he is quite stubborn. He is also much stronger, that he appear. But his greatest strength is his quick thinking. He is able to think on his feet, making quick decisions if needed and carefully plan if required. On his hooves he is very agile and quite fast, unlike when he is in the air. And of course, he is quite able to see in the night as well as in the daylight. Though, obviously, he prefer the night time.
Weaknesses/Flaws:
He is not taking his failings with ease. Also he can be arrogant from time to time, mostly when he succeed in something difficult. He also tends to overthink things from time to time and then be really furious, when he forget some small detail. But that do not happen often. And given his injured wing, even though it is nothing serious, he is not quite the flier he once was, but that is more mental than physical, perhaps he is afraid, or he is using the injuries as a reason not to fly that often. Who knows.
Fears:
Except his fear of failure there is just one thing he is afraid and those are timberwolves. He didn't say anything to anyone, but he kinda hinted, that timberwolves are responsible for his injuries. Even though he is exceptionally brave for colt his age he will never face timberwolves willingly. In his mind he can't imagine scenario, which would make him face them...
Also he is not really fond of swimming in open waters, mostly because he do not see what is hidden under the water, but that is more like concern that actual fear.
Personality:
There are several types of young ponies, that are trying to get into the royal guard. One of them wants to be heroes. Brave young souls, that are looking for adventure and fame, they are reckless and most of them don't make it to the guard. The other type are looking for some kind of order in their lives, they are dedicated and eager and many of them makes a fine guards one day. And then there are those, who have no idea, why they want to be guards, but they know they have to. And here it can go both ways. And Rayne Starfall is proud member of the third group. He knows, that he could be good guard one they, he feel like it is the right way for him, but he has no idea why. But he is as dedicated and as eager as any other, but is it because he is looking for fame or order? Or both? Or maybe neither. He is young happy eager pony, that is trying to find his place in this world. He likes to play, he is trying to make some new friends. He like to laugh like most ponies, but only when it is appropriate. He prefers to live in night, but since most ponies are the creatures of day he is quite able to exist when the Sun rules the sky, but let's face it - even though the sun is very impressive, there is nothing as beautiful as the silver orb ruling the night sky.
History:
Rayne was always very curious pony. And when you throw brave and stubborn into the mix you get combo, that won't let any mother breath easily. And since he was fascinated by the night sky, most of his adventure trips were in the night. On one day, long before he moved to Canterlot, he was crawling through some scary looking forest when he saw something fascinating. When he arrived to some clearing he saw dozens of stars falling from the skies. It was the first time he actually saw a meteor shower. He was just staring at the event, unable to move, fascinated by the stellar phenomenon. But he didn't know, that he himself is being watched. And then he saw them. Timberwolves... brave as he was this was something to terrifying for the little pony. He wouldn't be able to move, but then he saw another falling star. And suddenly he had just one with - be as far as possible from here. He gathered his strengh, spread his wings... and left the dark forest behind as quickly as he was able... he didn't know the way out, he was just running away. And yet he escaped. He was not sure how he achieved that, after all those things were all around him. There must have been something more. Some other power led him out of that forest. Or at least he believed that. He was not really sure what happened in the forest, but he always believed, that he was saved by the princess of the night. He wasn't really sure, but he took it as a sign. He was going to be a member of the Lunar guard!
