-Personality Stuff-
Likes:
Despite the sheer seriousness of her job, Raven enjoys it wholeheartedly and rarely ever takes a day off. This enjoyment mostly stems from her love for literature and helping others, however. If there is one thing in her job that she wishes there were plenty of would the animals; Raven has always liked animals, despite her small fear of dogs who bite and bark loudly. The unicorn also likes being noticed by her seniors, and goes to great lengths to impress them. She has a certain knack for picking up things easily and enjoys learning new knowledge.
Dislikes:
She absolutely despises being overshadowed by others and struggles to hold back jealousy when such an event occurs. Being criticised is also one of her pet peeves, due to the fact that she likes doing things her own way and can sometimes appear a little weird. Messiness and filth is something Raven hates; mud, stains, even disorganisation gets under her skin.
Politeness is very important to the unicorn, and she generally disliked it when ponies are rude to either herself or others and finds it hard to get along with them. Raven tends to avoid immature ponies and foals; the latter coming from the fact that she hates noisy things. But if the foal in an way is quiet or doesn't make too much noise, she's fine with it.
Motivation:
Raven's motivation has always been to help other ponies and achieve a good life. She did have fantasies about being an author and her teachers used to egg her on, but the unicorn settled with the fact that not everybody can become picture perfect celebrities. Being the best of the best in education was and still is always a priority for Raven. This can often result in jealousy and grudges, but the unicorn's shyness and ability to hide her emotions mostly prevents these feelings to be shown too much.
Strengths:
Raven is highly skilled at reading and literature. Maybe it was because she focused hard, or perhaps it's just because she's just plain intelligent, but the subject always came easily to her. When faced with a problem, Raven thinks of it as a machine and solves her dilemmas - this sometimes turns into antisocial behaviour, however, although shyness is her main thing. Hiding her emotions can either be seen as a strength or flaw, seeing as it can both infuriate ponies and soothe them.
Raven's mentally strong, her magic quite good (not amazingly brilliant) but above average for her age. She doesn't lose focus easily and never has nervous break downs.
Weaknesses/Flaws:
Shyness is one of Raven's biggest flaws, but also something she tries to overcome. When meeting strangers, she closes up but is polite at the same time, if seeing a pony she either fears or dislikes, the mare can be ridiculously polite.. Over all, this puts a negative effect on most ponies, but the unicorn does try and solve this problem. Due to her small structure, Raven isn't at all physically strong and can't run very fast either. She cares a lot about her appearance and this can sometimes be seen as a pony who only cares about how she looks.
Raven finds it incredibly hard to conceal and deal with pain; often making a fuss about it with her acquaintances and friends.
Because of her shyness and distaste to arguments, Raven can be taken advantage of by other ponies without realising.
Fears:
Raven is scared of tight spaces and has developed a bad case of claustrophobia. In addition to this, she always makes sure that she has all of the oxygen she needs and gets a little wary sometimes of the deep end of the swimming pool, where she can't touch the ground or can just feel it due to her lithe body; her mind tends to think she could drown in there. The unicorn is, however, perfectly okay with parts of a pool where she can touch the bottom.
Disappointing her seniors is another of Raven's biggest fears. She always does the best she can do and often exceeds her expectations.
Becoming bankrupt sometimes scares her as well, despite the fact she earns a fair salary daily; most of this fear roots from the fact she could disappoint her family and lose her well earned job.
Overall Persona:
From always writing to always studying, Raven is consequently a mare who finds making friends and talking awkward - thus, most of the time she stays quiet, even if she doesn't want to. She does have friends though and made a respectably large amount at Celestia's School for Gifted Unicorns. The unicorn doesn't let the fact that she's a graduate keep her from visiting there, as Raven loved the place like it was her own home and was considerably saddened when she had to leave. Since she was employed, however, to work in the castle, she began to become a little more content with the fact she didn't have to leave her boss's/teachers' sides.
The unicorn is independent and mostly declines others helps in hope of impressing other ponies. The technique often works, but on the other hoof leaves a rather lonely and neglected feel around Raven. She is, however, quite self - confident and can get a little annoyed when others try to prove her wrong without proof. She can get a little iffy around them and herself, but quickly forgives them as long as they apologise or do something to quench her mild anger.
'Forgiving and forgetting' is one of Raven's life mottos. She seldom holds grudges, thinking it's rather silly and ridiculous, and acts a little baffled and bemused around those who tend to do the opposite of what the unicorn does.
She is quite a shy pony, especially when every pony focus on her, despite her desire to be noticed by senior ponies. Raven is quite gentle to mature ponies and her friends, but doesn't associate with foals and ponies who aren't capable of being totally sensible or quiet. If they don't make too much loud noise and should they not be annoying or immature, Raven doesn't mind them at all. She keeps her distance from the contrasting ones, however; some ponies whisper that she's snobbier than other Canterlot ponies, but in truth her snobbiness is quite mild. In fact, Raven can sometimes be a little scared of the said ponies, feeling a little unsure by their improper attitudes.
Overall, Raven is a gentle and kind pony who works hard at her job, although she sometimes avoids others and doesn't indulge in conversations at work. She can be relied on to do anything for a pony she likes, and as long as you respect her decisions and space, is a friend worth having.
