-Personality Stuff-
Likes: Proof loves his family and friends and takes them into account as to why he does what he does. Their safety is also one of the reasons he believes in the justice system as much as he does. As of now, it hasn't failed him, and in turn he will not allow himself to fail it.
Proof has a sweet tooth and enjoys eating treats such as chocolates and cakes. When in seclusion, usually at home, he can be seen devouring large quantities of sweets while playing video games. Of course, he doesn't just game at home, and he loves arcades. He also enjoys the Equestria games as they bring out a competitive side of him. And it should go without saying that he likes winning.
Dislikes: Crime is despicable, and any pony who decides to commit any such act deserves to be put away. And because it is his job to know all the facts to aid in doing so, any misrepresented or forgotten information could be the vital piece that might allow the accused to walk away. He cannot allow that to happen. He cannot allow himself to fail as he cannot guarantee the innocence of the pony who may just go out and commit another crime.
When he was young, an event occurred that would influence the stallion that Proof would become. During this rainy evening, Proof was involved in a robbery. And although it wasn't a heavy rain, the mind of a young colt can easily be morphed at such a time. To him, the rain was savage. It was dangerous. So unlike crime, which he dislikes due to anger and disgust, he instead fears storms.
Condiments are something that should be avoided at all costs. Items such as ketchup, mustard and mayonnaise are disgusting and the idea of putting them on his foods turns his stomach. To each his own, but Proof wouldn't put any of these abhorrent things on any of his foods no matter how much somepony tries to convince him.
Motivation: Proof is driven by his dislike of criminals. He also desires victory and safety for others. This combined with his job causes him to sometimes bury himself in research until he feels he has everything he needs to put somepony away. By helping put somepony away, he can then assure that one less vile villain trots the street and that ponies everywhere can be that much safer.
Strengths: Proof is highly intelligent, which he uses to aid him while working. He is also quite eloquent, allowing him to creatively speak on trials. His dedication allows him to follow through on tasks until completed.
Weaknesses/Flaws: Due to his dedication to his work, he often doesn't have free time while on the job. His desire to win can also make him undesirably competitive. Though he's only been in a few cases, he's slowly become a little power hungry with a small god complex. To him, in court, the power is in his hooves.
Fears: Proof has a deep fear of storms, and during one he often panics and loses control of the situation. This fear has shown itself in the past, but has so far not been caused too much problems due to him usually being at home or with friends. He does fear that one day, he'll lose it at important and lose face to everypony around him.
If Proof were to lose a case, it could be dangerous. What if they were to be allowed to walk and eventually take revenge? And what if it wasn't on him, but a family member or friend as an act of revenge? The very thought of this scares him.
If there's one reason as to why he hasn't been dating, it's because of the nature of his work. While in court, the accused can see his face, and because of this, he then knows who his prosecutor is. If Proof were to become too attached to a mare, a criminal set free could take advantage of that. Heartbreak is something Proof cannot handle well. Any mare who is taken away by choice or not could destroy his world, and due to past experience he chooses to not date.
Overall Persona: Proof is a pony who looks forward to work, despite being inexperienced. While on trial, he does everything he can to win, using every tool at his disposal. While researching and looking over provided evidence, Proof always checks his work twice. Due to his inexperience in court, Proof tends to get nervous before finding his stride. This is something he is trying to work on.
Proof isn't as outgoing as other ponies, and it shows when he speaks. He doesn't talk with a monotone voice, but he doesn't come off as super cheery or despressing either. His emotions are still conveyed in his words.
Proof can be competitive at times, and his desire to put criminals away really shows in court. When not on the job and hanging out with friends, this nature can be seen during games and such. And even though he doesn't participate in the Equestria Games himself, he can get extremely passionate about the Manehattan and Canterlot teams.
Despite not having a lot of close friends due to his nature, Proof cares deeply about those closest to him and is especially close to his sister. He knows that not everypony likes him, and those that choose to stick around for him he wouldn't wish anything bad upon. Proof does his job so that ponies like them and even others can be assured of their safety. He feels it is his duty to make sure he can help make Equestria as safe as it can be by helping put away all the bad ponies.
History/Background: Born in Manehattan to a young gardener and waiter, Proof lived his young life like any other pony. He was loved by his parents, and he loved them both greatly. He also had a few close friends, and other than his substandard living conditions, he had nothing to complain about.
One evening, during a light rain, Proof made his way to pick up some ingrediants for a cake his parents were making. Upon entering a store, he would gather what he needed and make his way to the register. Unfortunately, a masked pony would enter the store, pushing Proof out of the way and causing him to fall onto the ground, and telling the cashier to put the bits in the bag. As a child, Proof would distort these events in his mind, such as the light rain being a heavy storm, the criminal being much more vicious than he actually was, and his injuries worse than they actually were.
After this, his parents applied their son to Celestia's School for Gifted Unicorns in Canterlot, in hopes that he'd be happy somewhere else. Upon being accepted, Proof moved in with his aunt and uncle. As he grew up, Proof would bury himself in his studies causing him to excel in school. Although he didn't witness any major crimes while in Canterlot, his past influenced his choices to study hard in criminal justice, criminal law, as well as the magical arts. One day while helping find the culprit of a small theft at school, Proof's cutie mark would appear on his flank in a bright flash. He was joyed at the event, later celebrating in private at his accomplishment. It was then he knew what he needed to do. As soon as he graduated, he moved back to Manehattan so he could help put criminals away and make Manehattan a safer place should the need arise. He has participated in a few trials since moving back.
One day while at Celestia's School for Gifted Unicorns, Proof had decided to act on a crush he had for one of his teachers. Like any young student, he thought that just by asking her out, the two would be a couple, but he was wrong. She had denied his request, explaining why the two dating would be a bad idea. Though he has gotten over her, the idea of heartbreak still stays with him.
While living in Canterlot, Proof met a couple ponies while spectating at an Equestria Games. These two ponies, Sidewinder and Spade, would become his closest friends. Even though they don't live close to each other, they all find ways to stay in touch, whether by visiting or sending mail. And when the three are around each other, they spend their time playing video games and just enjoying each other's company.
