-Personality Stuff-
Likes: Puzzles and mysterious for the most part, it is a weird obsession with her. Some thing it odd but most simply stay happy that it keeps her so good at her job. She enjoys exchanging with criminals and the general dramatics and fanfare that can come with the job. She loves the city and all it offers, I mean why would you wanna live elsewhere? Bugsy has always loved her family, they were closer growing up and she maintains a healthy relationship with them all now (well she does when she can get a hold of her goof of a dad) She often stops by the diner where her sister works, mostly to see her sister but the food is also really good.
When it comes to hobbies its hard to say where Bugsy stands, she's the kind of pony who jumps from thing to thing without ever finishing the last just because she wants to try something new. Her apartment is full of nicknacks and piece of a hobbies past, from a soldering gun to a a billion little pots of paint. She just enjoys new things, and everyone is always telling her to get a hobby or something so she decides why not. Some things have stuck, she'll often repair any of her own clothes after a brief stint with sewing and knitting, she stopped however after she dropped a tub of sewing needles and had to spend 6 hours picking them up so she could walk in her apartment again. She also enjoys Broadway, musicals and stuff always have a showmanship that she can appreciate and enjoys.
Dislikes: Simply put, Bugsy hates failure. She hates it because she hates failing a puzzle, she hates it because it lets down the public, she hates it because the chief shouts at her when she does fail. Despite her own nature she also really gets annoyed when an arrogant criminal gets the best of her, it just irks her and really gets on her nerves. Other than that she dislikes most things that normal ponies would dislike, although she doesn't concern herself with stuff like that.
Motivation: Just a love of her work is enough to drive Bugsy, she adores puzzles, cases and just mysteries. Going hoof to hoof with the mind of a criminal is just a thrill for her, although she usually far exceeds the common criminal mind. She never forgets what got her into law in the first place. Because her father was a reporter, he was often away trying to get that one big story. As such her uncle often popped round the house to say hello each morning while he was on patrol. The dedication he showed along with how friendly and happy he was spoke to lil' Bugsy, not only that but her uncle was a great cop. He taught her more than he actually knows, playing the long con, being observant.
He often taught his nieces a few tricks and lessons as any good uncle would do. The rest was picked up from her dad, special talents that helped with information gathering. Bugsy always remembers where she comes from, who she does this for and why. It might seem cliché and to be frank it is, but she would live that cliché any day of the week.
Strengths: Bugsy has always been an exceptional detective, observant and clever she is the best kind of detective. She drives herself forward with her love of curiosities and puzzles. She wanders around crime scenes, noticing clues and formulating theories. Beyond that she is quite a cheery and while not the most sensitive sort, she can always help people take their mind of their problems. They get sucked up in her love of puzzles and the curiosity of the case.
While it may not be intentional that she can easily cheer ponies up, Bugsy can be the complete opposite. By feigning stupidity or ignorance a lot of the time, she is a master at getting information out of suspects. Usually driven by their own sense of security that they think they have gotten away with it, Bugsy is always ready with the perfect question to get them to spill even the most tight lipped of beans. In general when it comes to tracking down clues and following leads, ain't no girl better than Bugsy.
Weaknesses/Flaws: Bugsy's biggest weakness is easily her lack of a social life, almost filling out the cliché obsessed cop stereotype. She works very hard, in both her work hours and free time. Not because she has nothing better to do, simply because she loves it so much. Beyond that, she isn't the best flier in the world, in fact she prefers walking or getting a taxi most places. She can sometimes also be a little insensitive, making a little joke here and there that don't go down to well, some say its her sense of humor or simply her bad timing.
A weakness that plagues lots of detective is hubris and arrogance, they let a criminal get in their head and it soon becomes personal. This is true of Bugsy as well, whenever one of those great criminal masterminds comes along, she will stop at nothing. Especially when said criminal starts taunting her, she becomes more obsessed that usual. She has a point of pride with her skills than she feels are tested by criminals such as these, she will stop at nothing to catch them and it can ruin her slightly. Lack of sleep, too much coffee, general side effects and you see them in a lot of detectives.
Fears: The big fear is always letting that one criminal get away, a criminal that she might know would be a danger to the public. Its something that's driven her, something that she she knows must always keep her from giving up. More day to day fears include the sewers and dark closed in areas in general, but the sewer especially because of the smell. She also dislikes some aspects of nature, big monsters that a city girl like her has never dealt with.
When asked, she says she only ever fears one thing: Ignorance. She never elaborates on this which sometimes just leaves ponies scratching their heads but what she means is that she fears that she will lose her edge. Missing that key piece of evidence can ruin a detective, it can kill their confidence and have them missing things left right and center. She hopes to never have that happen to her, she's seen it destroy some good and bright careers and won't let the same happen to her.
Overall Persona: Bugsy has always been a headstrong and witty individual, never having been one to take peoples nonsense or any run arounds. Always with a sly eye on all that's going on around her, she always plays that she isn't as knowledge as she lets on. Always looking to play the long con with criminals and suspects, only ever letting on any more than with her coy smirk that most just dismiss her as an annoying detective. Bugsy has always loved her job, puzzles and outsmarting criminals has always brought her an almost child like joy. Whenever she figures something out she always gets a little smirk on her face, just the corner of her mouth but enough to really annoy anyone she had finally caught.
She's always been an obsessive sort but not in any sort of debilitating way, she just loves her work to the point that it almost becomes her hobby. She's a fun loving sort, having a cheery demeanor and always looking out for the common pony. She has a sarcastic stint and loves cracking wise, always ready to poke a little fun at maybe even times that would not call for it. Bugsy retains an irksome tenacity, just when a criminal or suspect thinks they're home free, she'll pop up again with more questions, ever digging closer to the truth. As such she carries herself very calmly, she doesn't show outward bursts of excitement so much as leans against a wall with a a happy and sly smirk at a job well done. The only time she truly shows a big display of emotion is in times of anger or panic: when a criminal gets the better of her or she thinks that a loved one might be in danger she can really lose it.
Some might say that Bugsy is a bit of a cliché, of course they don't see her when she's not working on a case. Bugsy, while always putting on a happy front, can sometimes succumb to loneliness. She has a fairly nice, largish apartment that she goes home to most nights, dead silent. Having grown up with a fast paced Manehatten family, it gets to her sometimes. She can be sensitive when left to her own devices, when not on a case you'll usually find her wandering around being a bit of a good and generally getting in peoples way. She secretly wishes to find a nice stallion that could greet her at the door when she comes home. Its no goal of hers and she can certainly live without, but it would certainly be nice. When she see's a stallion that she might like, she can sometimes be seen awkwardly staring at the poor fellow; a testament to her social skills. Overall Bugsy is a happy go lucky, optimistic but driven individual. She loves her job and could never imagine being happier than when she is solving a big case.
