-Personality Stuff-
Likes: Celestia loves lighthearted ponies, being a little bit playful herself. She enjoys the odd joke every now and then, making some commentary herself to lighten the mood. After all, her staff often take her royal status too seriously, worried that they may offend her with their actions. She wants them to enjoy their work, to relax and not be so formal. There is always a time and a place for formalities, but there is always room for some enjoyment in one's happiness.
Friendship, joy and happiness are greatly treasured and loved by the Princess. The wisdom that comes from her to Twilight Sparkle when she is instructed to make friends shows just how much she understands and cherishes it. Without friends, Princess Celestia knows that one can become lost in the darkness of their own hatred and sorrow. Friendship keeps the light burning brightly, the positive to look forward to. The bonds that inspire, and pushes us to become better and stronger. In a way, Celestia looks for opportunities herself to make new friends and acquaintances to learn from.
She has a tendency to give advice to those who seem to need it most. It comes naturally to the Princess, when she wants to assist in helping them find an answer to some concern they have. She only has to nudge them in the right direction, and they are usually successful in seeing the truth. That sense of accomplishment that comes from having helped someone is something Celestia really loves. That she was of some use, even if it was with something as vague as a couple of words.
Autumn/Fall is one of her favourite seasons, and perhaps this because of the changing colours. The leaves remind her of the colours of the sunrise and sunset. Secretively, she also enjoys this season because it's a sign of the days growing shorter and the night growing longer. She works hard and she loves being responsible, but sometimes she just needs that little bit of a break and having a shorter day to deal with is somewhat of a treat in her mind.
A guilty pleasure of hers is eating sweets. Anything and everything, from donuts, cake, cookies, ice-cream, waffles, and chocolate, she has no restraint for the sweet confectionaries. She will sneak into the Castle kitchens, rummage through the shelves and fridges if she has to to fulfill her cravings. After all, doing the work she does every day - she deserves a bit of luxury in the form of sugar. Pairing it with a nice hot cup of tea is preferred, to wash away the stress.
As much as she loves the day, she also loves the precious moments during the night where she can relax by her fireplace and spend some quality time with Philomena. She can be seen resting in the confines of her room away from it all, sleeping. Or, taking a soak in a bubble bath to calm her tired and aching muscles. She might even sneak in a board game or play cards with Luna and her staff if the mood sways her, anything to take her mind off of her daily duties to wind down.
Dislikes: Oppression, injustice and cruelty are some of the main things she dislikes. It goes against her belief of ruling fairly and responsibly, unsure why those who use the tactic of fear to gain followers is even used. Having loyal subjects who admire you and fill you with pride is something Celestia feels important to being a ruler. She could never forgive those who cause harm to others. It is something she would never want to happen to herself, so why would she want to do that in turn? When she sees villains or evildoers ruling unfairly and the manner they treat their subjects, she loathes them. Using her own sense of justice and judgement, preferring her method of reasoning, she would rather try to help them see the other side. To bring light to the truth. Although sometimes, if the other party is not willing to understand and come to terms with her argument, she would have to instead fight and pass punishment to them so they will learn. She isn't proud of the fact when she has to use her powers in that manner, but so long as it means keeping the peace and happiness for the citizens.
Princess Celestia also isn't fond of those who are too formal around her. Despite her being 'royalty', she would rather those formalities dropped. Social gatherings are something she is accustomed to attending, but again the formalities can become more routine than anything, and she would rather there be some liveliness and fun. Not too much, but just enough to have a good chuckle and to ease the atmosphere. After all, she encourages those to share their life experiences with one another in a happy and content manner and to learn from each other. Not to feel obligated and uptight in those occasions, or even around her.
She also dislikes show-offs, being humble and modest herself. It is one thing to be proud of an achievement, but to brag and show off is not one she finds admirable. Her habit of downplaying her past accomplishments is proof that she would like instead for those around her to learn from her actions. To find inspiration and to apply it to their own goals. Celestia would rather some pony to teach others of the reason behind their success, to see it from a different perspective, instead of boosting their ego.
Celestia also has a dislike for when a pony jumps to conclusions rather than finding truth and reason behind it. Celestia herself is the kind to think things through with patience, and seeing that others don't take that extra moment to reconsider their actions gets under her skin. Not every piece of knowledge comes freely on a plate, sometimes one has to learn of it through a trial. If you are not taking the time to consider what your actions are, then you are only moving forward blindly in the dark.
Motivation: Celestia wants to keep Equestria safe and sound on a day to day basis, not because it is her duty but because she truly wants her loyal subjects to be happy. She wants to enjoy life and have others enjoy it as well, while not taking everything so seriously. In a way, she wants to continue ruling fairly and justly, whilst being a role model for all to look up to. It gives her joy with knowing that everyone is truly happy and content with her actions. She is always striving to be better and stronger, learning something new from even the lowest class of citizens. These are her opportunities, her chances, to improve upon herself.
Strengths: As is with her cutie mark, Princess Celestia's strength is one of raising the sun. Added to that, Celestia has the power and strength to raise the moon as well. Her powers have grown stronger over the years, having studied the art of magic herself. Being a ruler that needs to keep her loyal subjects safe and sound, she puts into place every care and precaution to ensure that she is physically and mentally alert and ready to deal with any given situation. Her magical powers can be likened to a demigod, in that they are limitless. However, comparatively, she is just below Discord in her level of power, unable to do what he does to throw chaos and panic upon Equestria. This is perhaps why her reasoning in reforming the draconequus to harness his power for good was a priority when she saw the chance to do so.
Being kind, merciful and patient is also a strength that comes naturally to Princess Celestia. Her centuries of wisdom and knowledge had helped define her for who she is, as a ruler and as a friend. She may not be physically strong in combat, but what she lacks is made up for with her intellect and quick thinking without over reacting. She has a calming demeanour and this shows when she has to deal with a lot of paper work needing signing, or listening to the day to day social complaints that can line up her schedule. She does her best with her political standing, dealing with neighbouring countries such as Prance and Saddle Arabia. She is respectful to others and never without a doubt crosses a line she shouldn't cross.
She is also strong in that she gives the correct piece of advice where needed, not exactly showing the answer but leading a pony in the direction to seek it out for themselves. Celestia doesn't need to prove herself to be a know-it-all, as she is very humble and modest in this respect. If there is something that is worth being proud over, such as a great positive achievement, she will encourage it and even acknowledge it. She isn't exactly the type to enjoy the spotlight despite being a Princess, but she is definitely strong in keeping up appearances and fulfilling her Royal Duty because it is expected of her.
Weaknesses/Flaws: It may seem that Princess Celestia has no flaws, but no pony is perfect in their essence. Celestia knows the limit of power, and any more would mean uncontrollability. She is still learning, even looking to Twilight Sparkle for new inspiration - teacher becoming the student, and the student becoming the teacher. She keeps herself in check and in balance, even downplaying her abilities on occasion. After all, she doesn't like show offs and isn't a show off herself. But, if she has to, she will harness every ounce of power and strength within her to claim victory and return Harmony to Equestria.
Another flaw of hers could be that she is too trusting and can place her faith in some pony too suddenly. They may not be ready, or they may not have the best intentions in return, but Celestia is always trying to see the positive side of others. Giving them the benefit of a doubt, a chance to prove themselves before having any cause to worry.
Fears: Princess Celestia fears for the fate and safety of Equestria when it is threatened. The last thing she wants is for the balance of powers in place to be toppled, and the citizens of Equestria to fall in hopelessness and fear. The qualities that she dislikes are those she wishes are never present in her own reign as co-ruler.
She also fears for her sister, Princess Luna as well, and wishes that what happened in the past to her will never happen again. Having her banished to the moon at the time was the right thing to do, but she does not want to lose her closest friend and only sibling to that darkness.
Overall Persona: As the most highly regarded co-ruler of Equestria, and the one every pony looks up to, Princess Celestia is a regal figure who can take control of a situation with a calm and collected mind. She does not panic easily, for being a leader she has an understanding side to every situation when her attention calls for it. She is responsible, quick on her hooves and able to guide those around her with her centuries of wisdom and knowledge. It comes naturally to her, especially when it concerned her most cherished student, Twilight Sparkle. She guided her, watched her grow and encouraged her to see things from a different perspective when the answer was not as obvious as it should have been.
Celestia is somewhat of a motherly figure, especially to Twilight Sparkle. She watches over her with love and admiration, and cares for her. Her calm and patient demeanour aids her in giving advice, in hopes that it will make her become stronger in their own position as well. Any pony that is close to her will see that she has her moments of pride, just like a mother, over the achievements of her friends, family and students. In fact, she will even encourage any pony she speaks with to be content with the decisions they make in their life, always wanting them to better themselves.
When it comes down to her protective nature, she will do anything and everything in her power to keep the citizens of Equestria safe and sound. Any threat that shows itself, she will stand up to it herself or have the assistance of others to support her. She will think through her approach and the actions that she must take in order to achieve her desired outcome. She cannot sit idly and let the world around her crumble beneath her hooves. She is dedicated to her work, responsible and will attempt reason if she can before she has to end up in a fight. She doesn't like to fight, always preferring the peaceful method of negotiating the matter to keep harmony, but if she has to then she has to. Even if it means passing judgement and punishment for their behaviour.
In a way, Princess Celestia will give some pony a second chance before truly coming to any conclusions of their true intent and desire. She is merciful in this way, especially if some pony has wronged her and afterwards has truly been guilty of their actions. She will forgive them and continue to help them seek the light of truth. She will not completely turn her back on them if they are forgiving for their behaviour. Celestia may be disappointed, but that doesn't mean she has completely stopped trusting you unless something grave has happened.
She'll get her work done in an orderly fashion and sees to situations that call for her attention. She does her job passionately and with authority - running a country, ensuring her loyal subjects are happy with her rule, raising the sun as well as her School for Gifted Unicorns. Yet despite her appearance and the royal obligations laid out for her, deep down Celestia is one who likes to have fun on occasion.
A social gathering like the Grand Galloping Gala is, in her own words, 'awful' because of all the formalities in place. Welcoming, and greeting guests and upholding her appearance in front of the citizens is something she enjoys, but it can become a bit monotonous. She doesn't mind it, but sometimes she just wants it to be a bit more lively than it normally is. She will even find ways to have it her way, even if it means using others without their knowing it to fulfill her desire. Celestia has a way of manipulating a situation so that the outcome is to her liking, being considerate and responsible in the process of course.
Sometimes when things get a little overwhelming, she just wants to get away and take a break or a vacation. Often times, this doesn't stop her from escaping her appointments to take a breath of fresh air. She is hardly ever seen leaving the castle without her entourage of guards watching over her 24/7, so sometimes sneaking out on her own can be quite a task on it's own. However, it's not difficult to spend a few moments away from everything just to gather her thoughts and recompose herself. That small moment of time to herself is rare and precious, and she will do anything and everything she can find to make those moments last. Spending some time in the Castle Gardens, gliding through the clouds, or slipping out of the castle during the night so she can observe what normal ponies would do.
Even spending that time with Luna or her fellow peers and friends is enough to keep herself in check and grounded to what is most important aside from Royal Duties. She has enough experience to realize that stressing over matters can often break you under it's pressure, and having someone else to learn from can help balance out her priorities in her day to day life.
(I will continuously update this section as I explore her personality through RP)
