-Personality Stuff-
Likes: Mezcal loves onions, peppers, beans, really she's a big eater and will happily try anything that's placed in front of her. Typically if she's challenged to eat a meal (such as somepony claiming it might be too spicy for her) she'll eat even faster. If an El Torro movie is playing, she'll watch it from start to finish as though she's never seen it before (which at this point in her life is impossible). She likes ponies who speak their mind regardless of the consequences, and of course anything having to do with lucha libre. While she's not as keen on other forms of wrestling, she does show some interest in them. She's also very fond of salsa and flamenco dancing. Mezzy also loves hot springs, and has been known to soak in them for hours.
Dislikes: Anypony (or anybovine) who assumes that a luchadora craves violence, or simply wants to hurt somepony. As she sees it, if she did not respect her opponent, she wouldn't do them the honor of entering the ring with them. On a similar note, she hates it when somepony assumes they get her mask if they manage to win a match against her. She also dislikes having her cooking sent back, and has been known to leave the kitchen to look for whoever returned their meal. She also becomes easily riled when someone starts insulting someone else's family, regardless of if it's her family, or the family of somepony she doesn't really know. Mezzy can't stand cold weather, and usually takes to bundling herself up in those situations.
Motivation: It is Mezcal's goal to bring the same sense of honor and pride to her family that she feels for them. As such, she is determined to rise through the ranks of professional lucha libre and become a champion. In addition, she styles herself after the former luchador and film star El Torro, dreaming of being a hero that stands up for the right and defends the weak.
Strengths: Mezcal has fairly impressive agility, speed, and strength for an amateur luchadora, and with her dedication to her craft she has a chance to go all the way someday. She's also bilingual, easily speaking normal Equestrian and Mooxican. She's also the sort of cow that never underestimates others, making her a trifle hard to surprise (although making her a trifle easy to disappoint).
Weaknesses/Flaws: She has a hard time letting little things go, and will often pick up arguments and debates several days later much to the horror of everypony involved. She's also not the most clever cow that ever stampeded through a field, and outwitting her is no great task. This also means that sometimes explaining things to her can also be an uphill battle. When she's frustrated she tends to slip into Mooxican, causing those around her to not understand what she's saying, making her even more frustrated.
Fears: While she loves her parents dearly, she's terrified of becoming them someday, as she sees it they're far too content to just sit back and ignore the exciting opportunities life offers them. She doesn't fear losing in the ring per se, but she does fear losing and being unmasked before she's become a proper champion. Mezcal's also extremely prone to ghost stories. While she'll wear a nonchalant face while hearing them and say they're just silly stories, she'll also typically not sleep that night.
Overall Persona: Mezcal is a busybody, and tends to get into everyone else's business. She doesn't do this to gossip or due to paranoid delusion, but rather from her intense urge to prove herself by becoming someone's, anyone's heroine. This often leads to her blowing some situations out of proportion and getting bored when she realizes that the fight she was trying to break up was actually two ponies learning how to line-dance. She likes to always be aware of what's going on in the world, thinking she can always make herself useful.
The young cow is also fairly confrontational, however her sense of confrontation isn't what one would typically expect. Having immersed herself in the honoriffic code of the luchadora, she views a proper wrestling match not as two opponents trying to defeat one another, but as two respected peers showing one another their strength and character. As such when she genuinely likes somepony, she'll typically try to talk them into getting into the ring with her. This tends to be somewhat off-putting to others, which confuses Mezcal to no end, leading her to often break into diatribes about the noble, honorable sport of lucha libre.
While her love of lucha libre coincides with her intense sense of honor, it's not the origin of it. Growing up, she watched her father Saguaro time and time again sacrifice time and money to help others, expecting nothing in return. She'd also see him turning down those who would tempt him to partake in something that seemed less than wholesome. Similarly, her Abuela Nopalea would often tell her stories of her Abuelo, and how when he was a young bull he worked to ensure that working cattle received fair treatment regardless of whether they were young or old, weak or strong, smart or not-so-smart. These stories and events fueled Mezcal, giving her an overpowering sense of right and wrong, and immense pride in her family's history.
She also tends to get extremely passionate about things she believes to be true. For example, it's impossible to argue with her that El Torro ever did anything wrong, as she sees him as a shining example of what a luchador, and any good bovine, should strive to be. To get into an argument with Mezcal is to enter into a lifelong relationship.
History/Background: Growing up in the deserts of Equestria, Mezcal was your average, bright-eyed little calf. She helped her family on their farm, did her chores, and helped cook dinner every night. But then one day, her entire class was taken to the movies to watch an El Torro film. El Torro, was a luchador bull who had become quite popular in movies where he'd fight against various monsters and villains to defend impoverished towns and their populations when all hope seemed lost. Of course after the class saw this El Torro was all the rage among Mezcal's grade, a number of the students even proudly wearing home-made luchador masks to school, and the school's wrestling team seeing a significant increase in student interest. But like all fads it wore off. The El Torro movies were old and by all accounts fairly silly, El Torro wrestling other bulls in costumes to pretend they were vampires or mummies, and soon the masks all came off and the students got back to their studies.
Except for Mezcal. Her mask stayed on. She still went to watch the El Torro movies, she remained on the school's wrestling team, and she became fairly well known in her school for being "that loud, nosy cow." If there were arguments, she got in between them. If there was bullying, she tried to stop it. If there was a dragon attack on the school, she'd be standing the roof ready to try to wrestle the dragon into submission. Luckily for her dragons tended to never, ever attack schools in the desert, so most of the time she stood on the roof taunting clouds that were vaguely dragon shaped.
As she became more and more enamored with the luchador lifestyle, she became more discontent with her own. While she dearly loved her family and would defend them to the death (especially from dragon-shaped clouds) she felt there was so much opportunity in the world, chances for excitement, chances to help those in need, that to remain on their sleepy farm was to let it all pass her by in an instant.
So with a heavy heart and a packed bag, she took off her mask, kissed her parents and abuela goodbye (her little brother received a sisterly punch in the shoulder and told to protect the family), put her mask back on, and set off to roam Equestria and seek her fame as a professional luchadora, or a chef. Whichever happened first. She was secretly hoping that the cooking thing would just be an amusing bit of trivia one day when people discussed the famed luchadora Mezcal, but really she was a good cook as well.
