Pelt Color: A dark grey pelt with speckles of black scattered throughout. His hooves are tipped with white fur and he has a white circle around his left eye. His pelt is smooth and glossy from all the time he spends inside his lab doing research.
Mane/Tail Color and Style: His mane is generally frizzy and moderately short. It is a light grey color with some speckles of black scattered about. His tail is the same color and fairly short. It can't be too long or he risks knocking all his important flasks and testtubes when he's working. It is also fairly frazzled as he doesn't have a lot of time to spend fussing over his mane.
Eye Color: Bright green.
Cutie Mark: A beaker with a blue liquid and bubbles emanating from within.
Other Scars/Markings: He has a burn in a circle on his left flank from spilling an acidic chemical there when he was a young foal in basic chemistry lab. The skin still hasn't healed.
Physique: Atom is fairly skinny as he doesn't get much physical activity. He eats a healthy diet but being outdoors is a bit frightening to him.

Likes: As evident by his name and is job, Atom loves science. He absolutely loved school growing up and was the pony always sitting in the shade with a quantum physics book while his friends frolicked about. He was occasionally teased as a foal, but his friends always stuck up for him. He loves learning about atoms, molecules, and cells. He sees everything through the eyes of a scientist and sees a deeper beauty in the world. For that reason, he also has a deep interest in the minds of other ponies. He likes understanding how they work and why they act the way they do. He enjoys long conversations about really anything and will sit and sip coffee in a coffee shop all day if he's with another pony. He likes listening to other's stories and gathering all the information he can from them. He also quite enjoys a good book and a nice cup of tea. He also has a secret love of pie and will eat it with every meal if he can.
Dislikes: Having to work hard to get where he is, Atom dislikes slacker ponies or those who take advantage of others. He doesn't believe in taking the easiest route to things. He also dislikes dishonesty in all forms and puts a lot of trust in other ponies. If his trust is broken, however, it can be very hard for that pony to regain his trust. He also dislikes being in the sun for an extended period of time. Atom was born in the Crystal Empire, though his parents weren't from there. They were on a business trip there, speaking to a professor at the university there and he was a bit of a surprise. His parents decided to stay there until he was old enough to travel and rented a house in the empire. When he was 3, they moved to Ponyville and raised him there. Atom started school a little young for his age because he was already reading and writing and his mom wanted to give him a chance to learn as much as he could.
Atom was pretty small for most of his young life and sometimes had trouble fitting in. He didn't like sports and didn't spend much time outside. He was more inclined to hang out with his teacher on breaks and ask her all the questions he could. His favorite games were 20 questions and would you rather and he always came up with the wildest longest situations for ponies to choose between.
He stayed in school for a long time and studied with many esteemed professors. He loved sharing ideas with his peers and challenged the ideas he was presented with in class. When he was about to graduate university, another pony stole his results from a lengthy experiment he did and reported them as his own. This forced Atom to go back to school for another two years in order to come up with another experiment he could run. For a while, Atom was bitter about this, but he eventually forgave the pony because it taught him to work harder and gave him and even greater experiment idea that earned him honors at the college.
He now works in one of the university's labs in Canterlot and does research for all of Equestria. He always hires university students to help him in his lab and loves teaching new ponies everything he knows.
