-Personality Stuff-
Likes:
Camping: Ash adores being in the trees and away from crowded areas. She takes every opportunity she can to roll out her sleeping bag and set up a nice campfire. She doesn't mind camping alone, but would much rather go with friends. Sleeping out under the stars is her favorite place and where she's most comfortable.
Fire: As her name may suggest, Ash loves a good fire. She's no pyromaniac, but the dance of flames against a dark night is always mesmerizing to her. She even loves dashing off into the forest to collect firewood.
Food: Ash is a huge foodie. She isn't a particularly good chef, but she will eat just about anything any other pony makes. She has a bit of a sweet tooth and loves candy like no other. Her favorite meal is pasta with red sauce and gummy bears on top.
Dislikes:
Standing still and having to be patient for an extended period of time. Art museums (much too quiet and pristine). Loud noises (such as balloons, dogs barking loudly, particularly out-of-pitch and loud singing). She can be very opinionated and judges other ponies on their values. She hates discrimination of any mare or stallion based on things they can't control. She generally is distrustful of large cities as she has been to them very rarely.
Motivation:
Camping and teaching young foals and fillies about how important it is to conserve natural lands are her two biggest motivations. Since she spends a majority of her time in the mountains and forests, she is always trying to get other ponies to see what value their is in wild areas. She also likes to show ponies how much fun camping can be so they'll join her despite the bugs and cool open air.
Strengths:
Personality: Ash is very warm and welcoming of new ponies and is very open-minded when meeting ponies. She can be very passionate when she finds something, or somepony, she cares about. She is extremely loyal to those who are close to her and will do just about anything to brighten their day and make them feel comfortable.
Physical Attributes: Though her flying skills can be improved, she is relatively strong on the ground for a pegasus. It can be difficult to fly through close-together trees, so she ends up galloping on the ground a lot. She is robust and able-bodied and can generally handle herself out in the wild.
Ability to Interact with Foals and Fillies: Being a ski instructor and a camp counselor, Ash is very good at handling foals and fillies and making them laugh. She has a huge heart and can be patient with them as long as she can be outside and where she can see the sky. Ash knows exactly how to handle homesick campers and show them how much fun camp can be. She excels at making fillies and foals comfortable in their own pelts.
Weaknesses/Flaws:
Personality: Ash can be very stubborn and easily irritated at times. If she is indoors, she loses patience and becomes anxious. She also has a habit of not taking things seriously enough. She can play off something very important as not a big deal which irritates those around her.
Physical Attributes: Because she is on the more muscular side, Ash doesn't fit into fancy clothing well. Though she generally avoids occasions calling for formal attire, she doesn't pull it off when she needs to. She looks uncomfortable in formal settings and, therefore, avoids any situations where she might have to dress up.
Education: Though she is smart, Ash didn't attend a huge amount of school. Her writing leaves something to be desired and she is terrible at math.
Fears:
Areas with lots of ponies packing tight together make her really nervous. She gets anxious in big crowds and inside any place with a ceiling for an extended amount of time. She is also afraid of large cities and is easily intimidated by formal ponies. Oddly enough, despite living mainly in the forest, she is afraid of centipedes and leaps out of her own pelt whenever she sees them.
Overall Persona:
Ash is a very emotionally-driven pony. Her passion makes her a good friend and an ambitious worker, but it can sometimes intimidate other ponies and push them away. She tends to romanticize everything in her life and though she is a very positive pony, her optimism can sometimes distort reality and prevent her from seeing possible dangers and downsides to situations. Ash has a lot of energy that she needs to expend every day in order to sleep well at night. She is very active and rarely stands still to stop and smell the pine trees.
Ash can be under confident and seek out approval from other ponies when she is feeling insecure, especially when she is out of her element. When she is unhappy or upset, she shuts down very easily and is very poor at hiding her emotions. She also excels when she is happy and comfortable. Her work ethic is directly affected by her emotional state. If she is emotionally compromised, her work suffers greatly.
Always in search of adventure and fun, Ash likes to take risks and live life to the fullest. She rushes into every situation with a full heart and open wings. She is charismatic when she is comfortable, and loves to make other ponies laugh. She can be very goofy around younger ponies and loves to play games. Ash is a huge fan of Rainbow Dash and has heard stories around town about her Sonic Rainboom and other such tricks. She also adores the Wonderbolts, but is very intimidated by them. She would be too shy to talk to them if she ever saw them.
Ash falls in love with nearly every pony she gets to know well. She admires the good qualities in others and never fails to point them out. When she develops a romantic crush, she is completely incapable of interacting with that pony and always seems to embarrass herself around them. She can be very clumsy and not totally aware of her own body. She tends to fall and bump into things fairly often, but is no generally bothered by that. She is physically tough, but can be emotionally fragile. She is a very open pony and honesty is a very important quality to her.
History/Background:
Born in Ponyville because there was no medical care in her mother's small mountain village, Ash was then brought back to the village when she was very young. She makes monthly trips into Ponyville or nearby towns and is curious about moving there someday. Her mother and father died in an avalanche when she was a teenager. They were able-bodied ponies that knew what they were doing, but just ended up in the wrong place at the wrong time. Ash was very deeply shaken by their deaths and it taught her to take a little more caution out in the wild.
Ash did most of her schooling in Cloven Hoof, but didn't care much for reading and writing. When she was a young filly, her mother sent her off to summer camp for the first time. She fell in love with it and knew she wanted to go back every summer. She hasn't missed a year yet and loves her camp family as she would her blood family. Her closest friends were made at camp and she saved up as much money as she could during the year so she could attend as many camp sessions as possible.
Ash started learning to ski very young as both of her parents were avid skiers. She joined a freestyle team when she was a young teen and won several events in halfpipe and the terrain park. She loves skiing off-piste and rarely stays on the main trails. She learned how to ski through trees when she was in her later teens and found her true calling.
She now spends her time split between her two passions: camp and skiing.
