-Personality Stuff-
Likes: Riddle loves nicknacks. Small devices that do little interesting things hold a particular place in her mind, such as watches, wind-up toys, things that fold up to a smaller size, things that store inside other things, and brass baubles with shiny gems and crystals in them. She also loves haggling prices, either for something she's selling or something she's buying. She likes battling wits, and also is incredibly fond of puzzle games of any sort. Above and beyond anything else though, Riddle loves trivia. She loves tiny, seemingly useless facts of all shapes and size. In her spare time she tries to memorize things so she can recite them later, reading from books of lists and 'fun facts'. She likes being right, and more than that she likes it not mattering whether she's right or not because she's the only one that knows what she's talking about. She's also absolutely mad for curry, naan bread, and hummus, and will happily watch any travelogue film. Riddle's also extremely fond of oil wrestling, though sadly it's a rare event in Ponyville. Riddle has also recently discovered that she's very fond of fluffy dogs.
Dislikes: While Riddle is very fond of Equestrian royalty, she has a distinct dislike of fairy tales in which the heroine becomes a princess. She prefers fairy tales that end with the protagonist becoming rich or achieving their goals through their own strengths. She dislikes losing things, to the point that if she finds something (such as a button off of an outfit) is missing, she will obsess over looking for it for hours. She can often be spotted patting the sides of her saddlebags to ensure everything's still where she thinks it is. Riddle has a mild dislike of not knowing where things come from, such as not knowing who she acquired something from or where. She has a tremendous dislike for scam artists and ponies getting cheated out of something's fair worth. On a milder scale, Riddle dislikes ginger in her food. She also dislikes it when ponies assume she's sensitive about not having a mane, when really she's quite fond of herself. Riddle also gets very insulted at financial charity. While she greatly appreciates being treated to meals, or a gift of clothing or something similar, she hates being given money unless she's earned it in some way.
Motivation: Riddle holds a firm belief in a karmic-style balance, that hard work and good deeds are rewarded in kind. However her belief rather overflows her own life, to ensuring that this actually occurs. If she sees a pony doing something kind for another, she'll try to surreptitiously do something kind for them in turn if she doesn't think they've been properly repaid for their kindness. Similarly, if she sees somepony done wrong by another, she'll attempt to do right by them, using whatever resources of the wrong-doer she feels are necessary, and she does so to help both parties, as she feels the wrong-doer will be far happier when they find they've had a hoof in doing the right thing.
Strengths: Riddle has impressive business acumen, and knows how to go about turning a profit on most anything she sets her mind to. Not with grandstand advertising or crowd wowing, but simple supply and demand. She's also a wealth of strange facts and tidbits about anything you could care to ask about, and if she doesn't know, she likely will have found out by the next time you see her.
Weaknesses/Flaws: Riddle does not like being wrong or not knowing things, and will typically attempt to steer conversations towards her own perspective or to an area she's more knowledgeable about if she feels out in the cold. However she often tends to block out her own personality when she's nervous by repeating facts and trivia rather than contributing something genuine to the conversation. She also has a very bad habit of impulse buying meaning that whatever sort of profit she makes never lasts her very long. Riddle tends to be a hoarder as well, as she reasons that she can find somepony that needs any given object and that if she throws it out that's when that pony will show up and she won't have it any more.
Fears: Riddle fears going without, the fear of being stranded somewhere without the things she needs are one of the reasons she's constantly wearing her saddlebags wherever she goes. She fears losing or disappointing their family, keeping in contact with them through letters on a weekly basis and going into panic-fits when the replies are late. She's also tremendously unnerved by spiders, though she's fond of the shape a spider's web takes.
Overall Persona: Riddle likes to view herself as a mischievous force of nature, secretly doing good when others can't see. She sees herself like this because of a desperate hope that her view of the world really is at it appears to be, that doing good brings triumph and doing bad brings failure. Deep within her nestles a nagging sense of being tremendously unprepared for some upcoming event she can't fathom, which leads her to horde things, both facts and objects, thinking that if she knows enough and has what she needs she'll be able to overcome any obstacle that could possibly arrive. Any failure, she reasons, would have to come from a lack of knowledge or means, as she sees herself as perfectly capable otherwise. When engaged in actual conversation, not simply reciting facts in an attempt to gain attention or prestige, she tends to come off sounding fairly high and mighty, self-assured, and haughty. While she doesn't view herself as being better than anypony else, she does tend to think that her part is more important than theirs, seeing herself as responsible for the mood of the evening. For that reason she can also be seen as a bit of a perfectionist, always trying to work things to how she thinks they should go. She'd be absolutely obsessive in this regard were it not for her family. When it comes to information, she's highly cynical and questions most things told to her by others, especially when those facts conflict with what she knows. However anything she's told by her parents, aunts, uncles, or grandfather she takes specifically to heart. Luckily for her, her elders were often in the habit of reading fables to her and her siblings, each with a moral to be taken away with it, such as "show your great plans to the tornado" or "wealth only matters if you have someone to give it to" and so on. Because of this she'll often catch herself when she's straying too far one way or another, but she can also be incredibly stubborn for this same reason.
History/Background: Born into a large family, and as one half of a pair of twins, Riddle Bits grew up constantly surrounded by family members. A family of merchants, they often traveled from place to place, setting up their home wherever they saw fit and then leaving again just as soon as it seemed wise to do so. A common tradition when they moved was that each of them would only take what they could carry, a tradition meant to instill each of the children with a sense of the temporary nature of objects and the lasting nature of family (after all, while your possessions would weigh on your back, your family would walk alongside you), unfortunately this also had the effect of making Riddle slightly more possessive of objects than her other siblings, even her own sister Rattle. She learned business from her mother, while her father and uncle would typically take up jobs of a police-nature wherever they went. Educated on the road by her grandfather, who was a wealth of knowledge and stories, she tried to keep herself busy learning whatever she could, and keeping everyone's spirits up, often viewing herself as the emotional core of the family. If she could keep herself happy, then she could manage to keep them happy even when things seemed bleak. However as time went on and her siblings grew up and began to try to establish themselves in business, Riddle found herself more and more not being able to be part of their lives, especially as some of them moved away to different cities and towns across Equestria. The most staggering of these came when her sister Rattle announced she'd been accepted to study medicine in Trottingham, on her own. Riddle had always assumed the two of them would simply be together as they were a matched set, but still her sister had hugged her, kissed her goodbye, and gone off to learn to be a doctor someday. Soon only Riddle and her younger brother remained amongst the young ponies, and after a long discussion with her grandfather, she decided to make her own way in Equestria as well. Her parents packed everything she could need, her aunt blubbered fiercely, and her uncle told her that if anypony was ever mean to her all she had to do was write to him and he'd come pay them a visit personally. As she left their seemingly new home, with only what she could carry of her possessions, her grandfather accompanied her and gave her one last bit of advise. "Believe in yourself, and you will never be unsuccessful."
