The gold and light green pegasus stood on the dam, eyes shut, imagination wild. The roaring water beneath her, the wind pushing her hair into her face, fueled her fire to fly. Wing outstretched, she flapped twice before stepping off the dam. Her wings caught her, of course, but her hoofs felt sad and droopy, like dead-weight keeping her from soaring higher. :: I can do it this time. I won't fall... I won't... :: But her wings caught, the rushing air pushing them back. "FALL!" she screamed, watching the sky drop further and further away. She was falling, and fast too.
Nopony was there to hear her scream, at least, nopony she had seen. She landed in the river with a splash. No injuries, just a broken sense of confidence. "How am I supposed to be a Wonderbolt when I can't even fly in the wind!" She complained to herself. She shook out her soppy wings, tucked them in, and headed downstream; walking, just walking. She would have to wait it out before she could go back to Cloudsdale. Flying, the only transportation there: no trains, no paths, just sky. The kind of sky that has to be flown through, and Acely had to face it. She was a terrible flyer. Good with fireworks, but not good in the clouds.
She had been dedicating her whole life to this. She put on a brave face and straitened the pink bracelets around her hoof. :: Flying isn't the only thing that life is! I have my cutie mark... does it have anything to do with the sky? No! I have no worries! I can be a firework ace instead! :: So, doing the best she could, she fluttered back to the top with a new kind of determination, a new passion, a new outlook. Just because she had wings, doesn't mean she was some kind of Dashie! The river splashed muck up the chasm walls, but she put her falling, splashing past behind her. On top, she lied down belly-up on the grass. :: Goodbye sky, hello... well, whatever you can do with fireworks! ::
