History/Background: Soul Blade is part of the Red Flower Family, a family with great respect for traditions. Just as her ancenstors, she has a specific birthmark: a flower with two wings (resulted from crossing the symbols of the two founders: a star with four wings and a heart with two flowers).
Soul was born in her grandparents' small house, on the ground (because Crimson Lily, her grandmother, is a unicorn). As foals can't fly very well, her parents decided to raise her there, until she would properly learn how to.
Five years passed and, despite having very strong wings, she couldn't fly. Crimson Tree, her grandfather, thought it was because she wasn't trusting herself enough. And he was somehow right. Soul Blade admired Golden Hammer and Silver Arrow, her parents, for their talents. They didn't show off, but she saw once or twice their qualities and deep down in her heart she thought she would never become as good as them, no matter how hard she tried. Not even the encouragements would cheer her up.
One day, while she was looking at clouds, a blue and white butterfly flew around her. Soul followed with her eyes the little visitor. She was quickly cheered up by the joyful „dance” of its wings and without realising, she stood up. The butterfly flew away and the little filly ran after it. She ran, and ran, and ran faster and faster and faster. She opened her wings. Her eyes were watching the butterfly. She felt the wind blowing in her mane. It was like she was flying. She looked down. Her hooves weren't touching the ground anymore. Soul was so excited that she screamed after her parents and grandparents to show them. They were all very happy for her. She didn't see the butterfly after that, but she became more confident in her powers.
After the big event, Soul Blade moved with her parents in a cloud-house (her grandparents' house was really small, so it would have been hard to live in it when she would grow up), near Cloudsdale. She was attending a normal school and learned martial arts and sword battling from her father.
Of course, she didn't forget about Crimson Lily and Crimson Tree. The two elder ponies would often receive visits from their grandchild and child.
One day, during his work, her father overheard some of his friends (who were also regular customers) talking about how a pony can become a Royal Guard. He knew about his daughter's dream, so he wrote a letter and sent it to the Castle. A few days later, he received an answer from a guard called Effervescence. He seemed rather interested in the idea of mentoring the young, but he wanted to see if the little one was up for the task first. Soul burst out with excitement when she found out the news. She couldn't stop hugging her father. The filly finished packing her things and could hardly wait to show her future mentor what she's made of. At last, Soul Blade was one step closer to her dream.
