-Personality Stuff-
Likes: Cobb is fascinated by insects, such as spiders, centipedes, isopods, caterpillars, and so on. He also is enraptured by adventure stories. Typically a good way to lure him out or put him at ease is to tell him a story. He also has a soft spot for salt water taffy, and he'll genuinely start purring when you clean his ears. He's also recently discovered the wonder of rocky road ice cream.
Dislikes: While not caused any physical discomfort from it, Cobb has an intense dislike of bright light. He also dislikes anypony that would swat a fly, and also gets uncomfortable when ponies stare at him. Also, though he doesn't know the proper term to describe it yet, he's very displeased with hypocrisy.
Motivation: Cobb is exceedingly curious about the world outside. He's still quite young so he's taking it in the smallest possible doses.
Strengths: The little pony has a very fine mind, and can generally reach surprisingly mature and intelligent conclusions after carefully observing something. He's also frighteningly good at sneaking away, typically vanishing if you don't watch him closely.
Weaknesses/Flaws: Cobb is still painfully shy, and will often remain silent or run away when approached, and is given to simply going motionless when confronted. This also means that when he does finally say something, he's likely to back down when he doubted or questioned.
Fears: His most tremendous fear is being all alone. Typically he'll be somewhere near somepony else without them realizing it, or will follow anypony he sees. He also worries that if he leaves someplace behind it won't be there when he comes back, making him a bit of a homebody.
Personality: Cobb is a very sweet young colt, craving affection and friendship without any of the necessary social skills to achieve them. He tends to follow others around from a distance giving him the appearance of a tiny stalker, but really he's just trying to be friendly. On lazy days he can be found lying in a shadowy spot in the grass, carefully studying insects, or sitting in somepony's shadow. If invited for a sleepover, you'll tend to find him curled up under your bed, but unlike his adoptive big sister Waxworks he has no desire to frighten others, he simply feels safer there. While he's very quiet, he'll speak in small, well thought out snatches of dialogue once in a while, but as of yet it's very difficult to get him into a long conversation.
History/Background: Cobb, along with a number of other young ponies, spent the first few years of his life in a Stalliongrad orphanage, The Foundling Corners. While he was a cheerful and happy youngster, socially he wasn't always the keenest and he found it much easier to speak with other young ponies than with adults. Typically he'd become exceedingly shy, and simply quietly obey the older ponies who worked at the orphanage, much to their frustration. He didn't dislike them, of course, they were quite nice to him, but he felt that grown ponies talked on a different level, one that he wasn't ready for yet.
As time went by, his friends came and went, adopted by perky pony parents, sometimes sent to other orphanages for a better chance of being adopted, and so on. The little shadowy pony himself was keen to get adopted, but again his nature got the better of him. When prospective ponies would come by, he'd either hide, or wind up peering at them around distant corners. His behavior, coupled with his tendency to peer out of shadows, began to give birth to a rumor that the orphanage was haunted. Even when the caregivers finally did scoot his little self in front of possible parents, he'd clam up and stare at them, which didn't usually compare favorably when in the next room there were little ponies capering and giggling with one another.
So Cobblestone remained, and the rumors continued. Ponies who were adopted told of a spooky little shadow that played with them and hid under beds, visitors claimed to have seen odd shadows moving around when they thought they were alone, and as there wasn't much else exciting going on at time, the rumor gained popularity.
It eventually became popular enough that famed mystic Light Patterns, who was best known as 'that pony with the crystal ball who claims her readings are for entertainment purposes only', went there to attempt to contact whatever spirits might lurking inside. She eagerly told her son about her upcoming event, and requested his company for moral support (and just in case a REAL spook showed up it was reassuring to have a large, brave son waiting in the wings). Her son, a shaggy blue pegasus by the name of Dusty Pan, agreed to come along and brought along his own friend, a haunted house enthusiast by the name of Waxworks.
So while the fillies and colts of the Foundling Corners watched in amusement as Light Patterns (or Madame Light as she called herself when she was working) wove her way around the beds and toys making low groaning voices and saying, "I am nooooow communicating with the oooother siiiiide," Waxworks explored the rest of the orphanage, taking a moment here and there to startle some of the workers. She paused, suddenly becoming aware she was being watched from a distance.
Waxy bowed her head slightly in consideration. From the far end of the hallway, a small glowing pair of eyes had locked onto her curiously. Without turning, she quietly walked away, and into a nearby door. Cobblestone blinked, and slowly began inching down the dark, empty hallway. In the surrounding rooms little ponies could be heard, Madame Light's moaning was still carrying on, but the hallway, it was absolutely silent. As the little shadow crept forward, his movements almost imperceptible, suddenly a pair of large, fiery eyes appeared in the darkness behind him. For a brief moment Cobb registered there was somepony behind him, and as the moment ended he found himself rolling head over hooves in a large tumbling ball of black and white, and when the tumbling mass finally stopped after banging into a wall, he found himself sitting on the stomach of a wild-eyed pony with a mane like a flaming candle. She was giggling up at him, and immediately her hooves snapped out and wrapped around him, like somepony cuddling a plush toy.
That was how Cobblestone met Waxworks. The two of them hit it off amazingly well, and most of the ponies who didn't know the little shadow was already at the orphanage assumed he'd come in with the spooky pony. There were forms hoofstamped, and the two of them decided that Waxy didn't exactly fit anyone's idea of a mother, but Cobblestone thought she made a perfect big sister.
