-Personality Stuff-
Likes:
To sum a few things up, she enjoys reading, coming up with an invention that works, helping her patients out, watching her Mother’s movies, listening to her father’s music, and the company of other ponies. She likes flowers, although she is horrible at gardening. She loves her scarf, and she likes bitter and tart things. Storm likes to make up poetry, although she’s not especially good at it. While she loves to read she especially likes listening to stories told orally - she believes that they have a certain magic about them! With that being said, Storm’s especially fond of magic; she hardly believes that it can fix everything, but she finds it intriguing and interesting. She has a love for flight and heights, something strange for a mare that can’t fly; she’s always loved the thought of it, though, and she imagines – hopes – that someday, she’ll be able to fly on her own.
Dislikes:
Stormbringer dislikes talking about her missing wing, having trouble with her inventions, and getting lost. (She abhors being so directionally challenged!) She hates seeing other ponies hurt or upset, and feels genuinely hurt when she’s called “strange” or “different.” She doesn’t like it when she tries to grow plants and they die, and they always do. Stormbringer dislikes falling over her own hooves or running into things, although it’s honestly her fault for not paying attention, and she doesn’t like food that’s too terribly sweet. (She likes sweets in general, but when they get to the point that they could be called sickly sweet… they give her a stomach ache.) While she doesn’t entirely dislike it, she feels a little awkward when she’s at family gatherings and her more distant relatives give her odd looks. She tends to panic a little when she’s stared at. (Although her first concern is usually that she has something on her face, rather than that other ponies wonder about her wing.)
Motivation: To create a prosthetic wing, so she’ll finally be able to fly. To help out other ponies that might have medical issues.
Strengths:
Stormbringer is one of the most hopeful, resilient ponies you’ll ever meet. While she’s an oddball, and definitely a bit out-of-the-ordinary, she’s quite cheerful and content, and despite her missing wing, she is happy. She doesn’t dwell on things she can’t change, and she works to change the things that she can. She’s extremely devoted, and doesn’t give up, even when things seem hopeless. It’s a little naïve of her, yes, but she’s not the type to give up, even if she’s obviously going to lose or fail. Storm has a powerful imagination, and often gets absorbed in daydreams. She’s a deep thinker, although it’s not necessarily on a practical front. (ex, she might come up with an absolutely brilliant reason as to why a certain flower is a different color from the rest of its kind, but she’ll completely fail to notice that she’s about to walk into an especially splashy mud puddle.) She’s a complete optimist, and genuinely loves life; Stormbringer’s one of the sort that have the ability to find beauty and goodness in everything, no matter how dark or horrible or ordinary things seem.
Weaknesses/Flaws:
She has a complex about her missing wing, although it doesn’t bother her all too much anymore. She’s a workaholic, and tends to spend hours tinkering away on inventions in her free time, losing track of all time. She’s a bit of a mess, and tends to forget to take care of herself. Storm’s a bit of an eccentric, and most ponies have a bit of difficulty following her train of thought. She can be somewhat spontaneous, and frequently acts on a whim, without entirely thinking things through. Stormbringer is bad with directions, and is rather prone to getting lost. Although she’s hardly antisocial – in fact, she enjoys the company of other ponies more than most anything! – she’s admittedly more than a little oblivious, and is somewhat prone to social blunders. Stormbringer tends to be a little clumsy, more because she doesn’t pay attention to where she’s going than anything else. She can be a bit irrational, and jumps to conclusions pretty easily.
Fears:
Falling, more than anything. While she has no fear of heights, she has constantly worried about it, because if she fell, she couldn’t catch herself. She doesn’t show it, really, but she has a fear of failure, and worries about not being able to live up to other ponies’ expectations. She doesn’t entirely fear storms, but they do make her jumpy – somewhat ironic, considering her name.
Overall Persona:
Stormbringer is an orange ray of sunshine. I say orange mostly because she’s too out-of-the-ordinary to be considered yellow or gold. An eternal optimist, she constantly has her head in the clouds. If she paid half as much attention to the real world as she does to the world(s) in her head, she’d practically be a genius, but she’s far too much of a daydreamer for that. Eccentric and open-minded, Stormbringer is a cheerful, social character, with an amazing amount of hope. She doesn’t let all the things that she can’t do bother her; instead, she focuses on doing what she can, and putting her best hoof forward. She’s a bit of a spontaneous, whimsical mare, and rarely thinks things through; despite this, she’s surprisingly dedicated to her job, and always gets the things she sets out to do finished. Storm is a bit oblivious, and she can hardly keep up with herself, although she seems to do a decent job of keeping up with her friends and acquaintances. Socially, she’s a floater; while she’s made some close friends, she can blend in with almost any group.
Stormbringer has hope for anything and everything, even obvious lost causes. She’s a bit on the innocent, naïve front; she’s fully aware that bad things do happen, but her logic dictates that, most of the time, bad things can be turned around if you make the most of the situation. She doesn’t really think ahead, and focuses on the present; her hopes and aspirations are relatively few, and, while her mother (being the hopeless romantic in the family) constantly tells her that she should start to think about falling in love and starting a family, and she mostly smiles and nods, Storm really thinks that she’s a bit young to be worrying about it, and anyways, she hasn’t met the right stallion yet. She doesn’t feel the need to go out and look, either; she figures that romance will come, or it won’t. She doesn’t really care – mostly, she focuses on friendship and fun. She’s constantly trying new things, and doing her absolute best to make the most of everything that comes her way.
History/Background:
Mostly a work in progress.
- Born without a wing
- Loved and supported by her parents anyways
- Shy child. Felt a bit insecure in her own skin. Wasn't sure what to make of herself.
- Met Nadia, who was injured. Nursed her back to health. Gained Cutie Mark. Remembered that she had a purpose.
- Slowly came out of her slight shell, learned to genuinely love herself.
- Began to experiment with prosthetics. Got it in her mind to create another wing.
- Learned about medicine, illnesses, and healing from an aging Pegasus woman.
- Left Cloudsdale, went to Canterlot. Currently settling in, has found a job at a hospital. Hopes to find her “spot” in the world.
Note : Will finish up a more detailed version of her history later. Really enjoyed playing around with her - she turned out differently from my original concept of her~
