-Personality Stuff-
Likes: Octavia prefers it when things are calm, and when other ponies around her are as composed and formal as she is. There is nothing that she loves more than practicing her art; the passion and experience she has for her cello is apparent in the way she plays so professionally. Octavia also loves the simple joys of classical music, both from music she plays and the music other ponies play. Being approached with humility is the best way to befriend her, considering her respect and preference for the formal side of life.
Dislikes: Being wrong, or not noticed are her two biggest pet peeves. When other ponies don't recognize her "superiority", she can become easily aggravated, and can be difficult to get along with. Octavia also dislikes club music, and considers the repetitive electronic sounds are more headache-inducing then anything. She hates when there's anxiety or panic in the air, since she likes being in control of the situation, and that's hard to do when everypony is panicking.
Motivation: Her passion for music keeps her going, but her ultimate goal is to be the best as what she does. Sometimes, this will involve bluffing other people, insults, or schemes to get to the top. But often, all it takes for her is to do what she does best; be calm and collected, and play the instrument that brings her so much joy. When she feels like things aren't going well, she thinks of how far she's come, even if she's only the cellist in a quartet playing background music for royalty.
Strengths: Octavia, with her many hours of practicing the cello, can play her instrument at the highest level. Plenty of time spent studying obscure books and art, she has an interesting insight to many aspects of pony psychology and culture. Octavia is often level-headed, calm, and collected. She always tries to logic out solutions to problems without losing her cool.
Weaknesses/Flaws: Octavia, of all things, can be considered both condescending and pretentious. Due to one of her biggest fears, she goes out of her way to be noticed. This will usually be accomplished through gargantuan feats. Due to her constant time spent studying or playing her instrument, she can sometimes be socially awkward, or overly critical. When in formal situations, or just with her friends, she will often be overly polite. This can inadvertently wind her up in more trouble then had she been critical towards other ponies.
Fears: What Octavia fears above all else is the possibility of not being recognized at all. She despises the possibility of being forgotten about or failing miserably in her musical pursuits. Another fear is losing one of her dear friends, or winding up with no money to her name. The thought of fading out of other ponies minds absolutely terrifies Octavia, and she does all she can to prevent such a fate.
Overall Persona: Because of how much time that Octavia spent with her head in books or with her music, she's a bit socially awkward. She often speaks without thinking about what it might make other ponies feel like. Octavia is also very high-class, and more than a little snooty. This first impression can often result in ponies thinking that she is rude or stuck-up, and can make it hard for her to make new friends. This, however, is simply a first impression, and she will often warm up after a while to new ponies. Even when she warms up to other ponies though, she has a tenancy to think a lot about herself, and would be content to monologue about herself for hours.
When Octavia plays her music, however, she is an entirely different pony. She is creative and vivid, letting the music flow from her very heart and soul. She will often write down her own compositions, which she will occasionally play with her quartet when they meet together. When she's not playing her music, she will often not be leading an exciting life in any sense of the term. A fun day for her includes a walk through town, a spot of tea, then settling in with a good book for the rest of the afternoon. It's often simple things such as that which entertain her the most.
When it comes to knowledge of obscure works of art, she expects other ponies to agree to her knowledge of the subject, and respect that. If they argue with her about such knowledge, she will often strive to demonstrate that she is more knowledgeable on the subject then they are. Octavia is patient and very persistent, as well as both pretentious and condescending, expecting other ponies to act "proper" around her in most situations. Following in line with her high-class upbringing, she is most certainly not a fighter, and prefers to avoid physical confrontation if at all possible.
Though it can take a while for Octavia to warm up to somepony, the result is well worth it, as she can be a very good friend. She always cares for the well-being of her friends, and may offer help that she simply can't afford to. Despite her usual attitude of formality, Though she has been known to "let her hair down" from time to time, this is only possible for her when she's with friends she trusts, or is forced into a situation where she has no other choice. When she's alone, however, she can occasionally act uncharacteristically childish. Calm and cold on the outside, but warm and caring on the inside, Octavia is an example of why one should not judge a book by its cover. She is a very complex pony, and in short; she will do everything in her power to prove herself right, never stop hounding someone if they have something she wants, and will respect and come to like any pony who treats her with respect and dignity.
