Other Scars/Markings: Some nicks and cuts from flying stone chips or slip-ups with the hammer.

-Personality Stuff-
Likes: Carving stone, playing with Rose Quartz and Obsidian, coffee, being surrounded by his loved ones, visiting Ponyville, going to bars after a hard working day, bar games.
Dislikes: Being unable to help someone close, lazy or unreliable ponies, uptight ponies, Sienna badgering him about finding a mate
Motivation: Helping his family and their business stay strong. Looking out for his friends. Expanding the family's' interests into more artistic stonework and opening a workshop in Ponyville.
Strengths: Strong, skilled and hard worker, protective of his loved ones and protected by them, outspoken, good-humored
Weaknesses/Flaws: Terrible at book-keeping and bureaucracy in general, blunt, a slow runner due to his girth
Fears: Trying to realize his dream of setting up a workshop in Ponyville and failing, big cities, never finding a special somepony to suit him
Overall Persona: "You see this here cutie mark ah've got? Basalt and Ma just think it's about masonry, how ya need skill and patience to fit all them stones together for a wall or fireplace or what have ya. And ah figure them's right, but ah think there's more to it than just that. Ah figure it's also 'bout family.
Take mah brother and Ma, they know all about runnin' a business, sharp as you please with the numbers and figures and delivery dates and taxes.. An' sometimes ah think them stones around the farm are livelier company, but that's just them hard days. Now, Pa on the other hand.. He takes each stone and works it with all the patience and skill he knows how. He can carve rock ta look like plants or birds or ponies or anything, an' he makes it so it looks like he's just settin' free what's already there, inside the rock. He's also terrible with the books.. Ah figure ah get most things from him. Sometimes it gets mighty tiresome how Ma and Basalt don't see some of the things me and Pa see. But like them different shapes a stone, we fit together with skill and patience, and lemme tell ya, no stone structure was ever sturdier.
Ah guess its as much due to the fact that ah get along well with ponies as mah working skills that ah'm the one who goes out to deliver material and to build what folks have ordered. Ah like meeting ponies outside the family, the farm can feel a bit isolated at times.. Sometimes ah wonder why ah couldn't set up a shop in Ponyville an' just cart in the stone from our farm. Ah could do so much more with it, but ah dunno.. Maybe Basalt is right when he says there's no money in't.. But ah'll keep mah eyes open, anyway. Ya know what they say: even water drops will wear down stone, over a time."
Background: Chips was born to a family with a long history of working and producing quality stone. Having always been better at working with his hooves than behind a desk Chips was set to learn stone working from his father Seism while still a colt. His brother Basalt meanwhile learned the finer arts of running a business from their mother, Sienna. When the brothers were in their twenties Seism and Sienna stepped down from running the farm, although still contributing to the work effort. While Basalt was quick to marry once his position as head of the farm was secured, Chips has only ever dappled in relationships, much to the chagrin of their mother. With no mares to his taste living close by and his childhood friends having moved to Ponyville the town holds an ever growing attraction to Chips, although the farm is something he would never even dream of leaving behind for good.
