-Personality Stuff-
Likes:Books, fantasy, knights, Princesses, magic, reading, roleplaying, romance novels, and most of all his big brother!
Dislikes: Large social gatherings, bullies, thieves, and the baddies his brother vanquishes.
Motivation: Wants to be just like his big brother! Which he lives vicariously through his tabletop RPG's and his fantasy/romance novels. He also loves reading the next installment in his many fantasy series like the Wheel of Pony.
Strengths:Very creative, smart, and has a talent to break down things in an analytical fashion. Very open minded and patient.
Weaknesses/Flaws:Extremely shy with pretty mares, people have a hard time understanding him sometimes with his lisp, and physically weak.
Fears:Saying something really stupid to a pretty mare, disappointing his big brother, losing his bookstore.
Overall Persona: Barnes is a big geek, heart and soul. He enjoys his books, table top RPG's, and his wild daydreams. His head is often in some cloud, thinking up cool stories or coming up with new scenarios for her games. As such, it's often caused others to think of him as being... not all there. He holds a paticular interest in fantasy novels and fairy tales. He enjoys the ones with dashing knights that save princesses the most however. So he's had a guilty pleasure of perusing the romance section of his store but it's always been a secret that he tells nopony.
He is quite socially akward but he makes the best of his abilities when he's working his store. He gets incredibly nervous when a pretty mare appears in his store which can often cause him to stutter. It doesn't go well either with his lisp. There have been many times where others just couldn't understand him because of it. Every morning Barnes stands in front of the mirror and practices words he has the most difficult time with but more often than not he stumbles over them more than anything. Until he worked the store, he actually never made any effort to talk to others. Barnes is very introverted and keeps mostly to himself. As such, he actually holds a lot of suprising secrets about himself.
When it comes to his family, Barnes is closest to his mother. A regal and patient pony. He tended to be a mothers boy so he often hung around her often as a foal. She'd always sing him songs and soothe him when he was troubled. His mother always loved to watch him fly through the air. As an Earth Pony, she was often envious of how Pegasi could fly. So he would tell her all about it as well as what the clouds felt like when you laid on them. He never realized that the smile she gave him was a wistful one and not because she was happy.
His father was a small pony with a big heart. Sorter than most, he made up with it with his strong leg power and strong wings. A far faster flier than Barnes could ever hope to be. His father tried to get him to be more active like him, make him race and run, gallop, jump, but he could hardly ever keep up and more often than not would just stumble over his own hooves. Barnes often felt bad that he couldn't meet his fathers expectations but his dad never pressured him to improve himself and insisted that he was fine the way he was.
Barnes biggest idol in all of Equestria is his big brother. As a foal he'd copy everything he did, wanted to be JUST like him, and followed him around everywhere. He just adores his big brother and he is happiest when he visits and tells him all about his stories traveling around Equestria and when he brings back rare books. Besides books and DnP, his big brother is the only other thing he can blab about if you get him started. And when you get him started on something he loves, his excitement on the subject become very obvious and he sounds incredibly passionate.
Although Barnes loves Knights and Knight stories and often lives the fantasy life vicariously, he actually wishes for a more down to earth lifestyle. He dreams of one day meeting a nice mare, settling down, having a few babies, and raising a happy family. He doesn't try to think about it too much because of his inability to talk to women. Much less try to court one! He always feels defeated and rejected before he can even approach one.
When Barnes feels sad or lonely, his favorite thing to do is to fly up into the sky and rest on some clouds in a secluded area or just explore the area up in the sky. Since the skies are rarely occupied he finds it very soothing to just glide through the air. He's not a very fast flier, he only flies at about five wing-power when he's trying to go as fast as possible but it's usually a leisurely two to three. He's often cramped in his bookstore so he doesn't work them out as often as he should.
As a citizen, he's very law-abiding and good natured. He doesn't like to invite trouble of any sort so he takes care to not break the rules and respects authority. More so out of fear of the guards than anything. To those he doesn't feel threatened by, he's very upbeat, friendly, and kind. Barnes is also always eager to lend a hoof and is the type of pony whom can sit down and listen to an Elder repeat the same story for the upteempth time with a smile on his face. Very patient and at times mousey.
When it comes to standing up for himself, he's not very good at. He is prone to getting pushed around, especially when his big brother isn't around. Those who do push him around are prone to being the victims and villians in the roleplays he's the Dungeon Master of. It acts as a sort of therepy for him so he can get all the pent up feelings of anger out in a constructive manner. He does however feel bad about doing it sometimes. In his head, he feels its justified but he just feels bad about slandering a pony even if it's not really them. He doesn't understand his confusion about that either.
