A faint breeze blew throughout Crystal Sunset’s mane, making her feel even chillier. Winter was coming fast, but Sunset wanted to enjoy beauty of autumn while it was still here. Although the day was cold, it was the perfect day to go for a walk in Ponyville. This was why Crystal Sunset was going outside to explore Ponyville in the first place. Normally the little filly would stay inside, away from all the cold. But only because so many other foals were walking through town that day, Crystal Sunset decided to join them and walk around Ponyville as well. Ponyville was a small town, there weren’t many shops or places to stay but it was charming. It was a busy town but it was quite, unlike The Crystal Empire that was always buzzing with noise.
Crystal Sunset didn’t go to school in Ponyville. In fact she didn’t live in Ponyville at all! She was a filly born in The Crystal Empire, one of Equestria’s most majestic residences. Sunset’s mother, Diamond Shine, had wanted only the best for her little filly so Crystal Sunset grew up only seeing the finer things life had to offer. That included going only to the finest schools in all of Equestria. It just so happened to be that that year the finest school for Unicorn’s of her age was Celestia’s School for Gifted Unicorns. Crystal Sunset had been a magically talented Unicorn ever since she was a little filly, she knew she would ace the test and be in Celestia’s Private School in no time. Sadly during the train ride to Canterlot the train broke down and the ponies on the train walked to Ponyville for shelter. Now Crystal Sunset was staying in Ponyville in a hotel, it wasn’t exactly what Sunset would call luxurious but she was glad to have a roof over her head.
After taking random turns and twists throughout Ponyville, Crystal Sunset found herself standing in front of a peculiar shop. It was a giant café that seemed to look as if it was made out of candy. It was definitely the most unique building in all of Ponyville! There were so many vibrant colors on the house and she could smell the sweet smell of donuts, cake, ice cream, and cupcakes from the outside of the café. This café was called Sugar Cube Corner, a wonderful little shop with every pony’s favorite sweets and cakes. It looked as if every pony in Ponyville loved this little confectionary shop and if Crystal Sunset had been born in Ponyville she would have loved to spend most of her time in that shop. She trotted towards the place, saddle bag on her back, shining eyes and bright smile. She waved a hello to a few passing ponies, before entering the shop, which make the doorbell jingle softly.
Crystal Sunset pranced into Sugar Cube Corner. She had twenty bits to get her a sweet treat and perhaps a milkshake or a cup of tea. The little filly walked to one of the counters filled with colorful and delicious looking treats. Sunset licked her lips peering through the glass at the many sweets. Maybe a donut. Well a cupcake would be scrumptious too. Sunset looked at the twenty bits she held. When her belly rumbled she chose quickly. "Hello Mrs. Cake! I'd like a strawberry swirl milkshake and one red velvet cupcake please!" Sunset asked cheerfully, almost as if she was use to talking to this mare. After a few minutes, she had received her order and sat at a table near one of the many windows to drink this wonderful beverage and eat her cupcake. She took out a notebook and a quill from her saddle and started to write down lyrics for another one of her songs.
Today, a couple of ponies passed by the shop to pick up deliveries, but none really sat and ate in Sugar Cube Corner like Crystal Sunset was doing. She quickly nodded to herself that this was a good thing, since she could concentrate on writing the lyrics to her song with the wonderful smell of baked goods and sweets in her nostrils.
