Crystal Sunset walked through the regal halls of the beautiful Canterlot Castle. On her right she saw bright banners to glorify the majestic princess, Celestia and on her left she saw moonlit banners that seemed to glow for the magnificent princess, Luna. Altogether the castle was one of the most gorgeous places in all of Equestria. Crystal Sunset had traveled and seen many beautiful landmarks in Equestria but never in her life had she seen such a beautiful inhabitation; the castle definitely was much different than The Crystal Empire’s stunning palace.
Almost every hall she walked through Sunset noticed Celestia's regal day guards chatting or patrolling the castle to protect Equestria’s beloved princess. Crystal was definitely not a shy pony but she couldn’t find the courage to look up at the guards to smile; unlike many fillies who would kill to even see a guard inside the palace. She felt as if every time she walked past a patrol of guards they would look at her and smile, almost as if they were laughing at her. Did they not thing she was ready to become one of Princess Celestia’s personal pupils? She would show them! No, she would show all of Equestria!
After walking down many more corridors and through many rooms in the palace, Crystal Sunset found herself standing in front of two giant white doors. The doors were very large and majestic with beautiful swirl-like designs made from golden paint. Thank the stars Sunset had perfect vision or else she might have mistaken the doors for Princess Celestia! The filly’s small horn started to glow bright while an aqua aura surrounded her little horn. Her magic opened the two doors and she walked into the giant room where she would be tested. She knew that her magic was strong enough to get her to pass whatever test the judges gave her. Sunset had been training for this her whole life now it was time to put her skills to the test.
Crystal Sunset slowly walked to the center of the room while looking at the judges confidently. They looked like any regular Unicorn from Canterlot. All the mares had their mane and tail styled and wore chic cloths that were probably from some of the most expensive cloths in Canterlot, they looked as if they had just come off of a modeling runway. The stallions looked so regal and intelligent; much like the mares the stallions also wore the latest fashions as was expected of them. To Sunset’s surprise the judges didn't look as mean or as serious as she thought they would have looked. Most of them looked very kind and probably been a very funny and playful pony if they just weren’t on shift, but she still didn’t trust them. Sunset knew that all judges judged you no matter how pretty or kind you were, she wasn’t going to fail this test because she thought the judges would go easy on her.
Once Sunset was standing in the center of the room she smiled brightly at the judges and looked around the room. Before Crystal Sunset left The Crystal Empire she hoped that she would see Princess Celestia and Princess Luna when her test started, she even tried to send a letter to one of Princess Celestia’s advisers saying that she hoped at least one of the princesses could watch her while she was testing. Crystal Sunset didn't see Princess Celestia or Princess Luna but smiled anyway, nopony ever got exactly what they wanted; Sunset was happy that she was lucky enough to be trying out for Celestia’s School for Gifted Unicorns.
There were four judges in the room who were going to be testing her that day. Two of the ponies were stallions and the other three were mares. The two stallions were both snow white and both of their manes were styled in thick curls, unlike their tales that were cut short like the royal guard’s tails. The first mare had a yellow pelt with purple hair with an unusual white highlight in both her mane and tail. Unlike the first mare, the second mare was a tall unicorn with a cotton candy pink pelt and bubblegum blue hair. This mare was no doubt a candy lover; this was shown by the fake candy she had in her mane. Crystal Sunset could definitely see that it was going to be easy to pass whatever test the judges gave her.
The mare with the bubblegum blue mane walked over to Crystal Sunset and smiled. “Could you wait outside please?” She asked Crystal Sunset kindly; her voice sounded snobby and almost rude. She was definitely not the pony Crystal Sunset thought she was going to be. But Sunset didn’t care what the pony’s voice sounded like, most of the ponies in Canterlot sounded snobby; this pony was no different than the rest of the ponies of Canterlot.
Crystal Sunset stared into the pony’s eyes and nodded with a smile. “Yeah I can wait outside. Should I come back in five minutes?” She asked the bubblegum haired pony politely. The mare shook her head and chuckled quietly, she must have received this question often. “No. We’ll call you back when we’re ready for you.” She told Crystal Sunset before walking back to the other judges who were sitting in the audience.
Sunset walked back to the giant white doors she first noticed before she entered the testing room. Crystal Sunset used her magic once more to open the doors and walked out of the room. She closed the doors after she exited the room and as the judged began to decide what test they would give her. Crystal Sunset looked around the hallway and noticed three red chairs on each side of the room. She walked over to one of the chairs on the left side of the room and sat down, they were very comfortable. Sunset wondered if any other fillies would be coming to try out for the school. She noticed hoofsteps coming down the corridor but couldn’t quite see who was coming. Was it another filly that was going to try out for Celestia’s School for Gifted Unicorns? Or was it Princess Celestia herself? Crystal Sunset couldn’t tell. But whoever it was, Sunset was excited to meet them.
