It was a particularly chilly day in Ponyville. While the colder weather slowly crept in, many ponies would stay inside their homes for much of the time. For weatherponies, it was a whole different story. Those pegasi who maintained the cold weather had to withstand temperatures that, to some, would be hard to tolerate, but these ponies were very dedicated. Many considered the cold seasons to be the hardest to maintain, but fortunately for them, it was just the start.
Nimble weather pegasi soared about the skies over Ponyville gathering gray, stormy clouds. Their cooperation was quite remarkable, but no one else had been there to see it; the windy conditions apparently weren't ideal for land-dwelling ponies, as the streets were barren of residents, give or take a few ponies every now and then who bravely went out to do some shopping (and would quickly find themselves back inside). The cold seasons proved fairly difficult to provide, as it was hard to balance between too cold and not cold enough, but in spite the more of the weatherponies found themselves working in harmony, pulling off their duties with ease.
There were also those who couldn't come to an agreement with their duties.
No matter how hard she tried, Bird just couldn't do things right that day. The white pegasus shot a determined glare toward a distanced cloud as she sped her way toward it, slowed by the increased wind. With assertiveness yet a grip light as a feather, she carefully pushed a grayish cloud toward Ponyville, but proceeded to feel her hooves fall right through as the cloud disappeared into nothingness. "Ugh!" she growled to herself, trying hard to gather her cool. She would have rather been doing anything else in that moment, but wasn't the type to give up. A quick scan of the sky led her to another cloud, and she flew toward it, hoping she wouldn't mess up again. She spread her dark wings as much as she could and, with exaggerated force, flapped them roughly, momentarily pushing the cloud in her desired direction. Relief flooded the newly accomplished pegasus until the wind blew it right back to its original place.
She groaned and exasperatedly threw her body onto the cloud. "I haven't done anything productive, and there is nothing else to do in this weather!" The cloud beneath her began to give way, causing her head to fall right through. She paused, observing a pony who appeared to be travelling. In these conditions, it must have been important if somepony had the guts to be out in the cold of the wind. She pulled herself back up and sat on the cloud, watching below to see if the pony needed help. Assisting the pony would give her something to do, and whatever the pony might need help with couldn't possibly be too complicated.
