You know when you have that weird sensation, and you aren't sure whether to be excited about something, or really, really unexcited and throw a massive tantrum? Well... probably not, but Shawnie Spence definitely knew that feeling this afternoon when she arrived home and her mother thusly announced that she would be going out that night, and so Shawnie would have to be foalsat. Foalsat. Now, after Shawnie'd gotten over how weird that sounded and claimed that she wasn't a foal and she didn't intend on being sat on in any case, it started dawning on her that she wouldn't physically be able to prevent this fate from becoming a reality. And, even weirder, she wasn't sure whether that bothered her or not.
I mean, Shawnie wasn't one to throw a tantrum or a huge hissy fit, considering such behaviour to be typical of ponies who were much younger than her. Much younger and much dumber, at that. Tantrums wouldn't get you anywhere. They never worked, did they?
As as she sat in her bedroom, pondering over this, she supposed that it'd be better to be excited. I mean, meeting new ponies was always fun, right? Shawnie was good at it, too! Especially with ponies who were older than her, notably. So, as the minutes ticked by - very literally, as she had a clock on her wall and was staring or squinting at it every five seconds - she fantasised over what her 'foalsitter' may look like. Hey, maybe they were into music, just like she was. Art? Maybe that, too! Twiddling her hooves, she couldn't help but chuckle at her own eagerness to meet this complete stranger. Or at least, she presumed stranger. She'd never been foalsat before - at least not when she could remember - and she didn't often have that many ponies round. Frowning when she thought about this, she shook her head, glancing once more up at the clock, only to notice that ten whole minutes had passed! Her mum was going now!
Flinging her bedroom door open and rushing down the hallway, she met her mother at the doorway. The older mare was smiling down at Shawnie and gave the filly a hug, before opening the door. "You be good to your foalsitter, Shawna." Nodding her head and waving her mum off, she thusly departed, a small slamming noise being made as she did so.
Sighing lightly, Shawnie rolled her eyes, laughing to herself at how her mum always called her 'Shawna'. "No one else does, mum." She mused, making her way into the living room and plopping down onto the sofa. It was only a matter of time now!
