Nightfall chuckled and nudged him back with a wing, "Hey, knowing my stallion is part of the job description when it comes to being a good marefriend. Besides, your persistence is very encouraging," she said with a wink. After his suggestion, she actually considered it for a few moments before laughing, "You know what? You might actually be right. Be fun to take you to one of the Guard's fighting rings, there's open tournaments on Friday nights that the Solar and Lunar go when they're off duty to place some bets and see who's the best fighter. Who knows, it might be a fun date," she suggested with a sly little grin. She was a leader, but she had to admit that it was always entertaining to watch the Guards brawl it out for bets and laughs. Seeing Aero get into the ring would be quite the show-stopper.
Nightfall blushed when she was quieted by a kiss on the lips, but she was quick to happily return it, the blush stubbornly refusing to leave her cheeks. She knew how much he had to power through just for them to see each other, and it was heartwarming to know that he was willing to do such a thing just to see her. He wasn't nocturnal, but he was doing his hardest to try and be. If he was less of a pony, she'd be concerned about his health, but Aero was far more than a civilian. If anyone could handle it, she was certain that he could, and there was nothing she could say to make sure that he kept a normal sleeping schedule. The thought of him working that hard for her made her heart flutter.
Nightfall chuckled at him and nodded, "Yeah, well, I did kind of mother you for the last half of the date. But I'd say that you were the one leading for the first half. So how about we took each other out? Sounds better that way," she suggested with a good-natured smile. Hugging him back, she nuzzled into his neck before returning the kiss, "Thank you for getting me to come out. I had a lot of fun. I'll be sure to make room on my schedule for another night off," she said before stepping back, "I'll see you tomorrow!" she exclaimed happily before rounding and heading off into the morning light, returning his wave with a childlike smile before continuing on her way.
She would have much preferred to stay with him, or take him back to the barracks and offer him some place to sleep. But he likely had stuff he wanted to do, and she had work she needed to do. With the sun coming up and yawns fighting at the back of her mind, she knew that it was time to call it a day. The night was amazing, and she knew that she loved that stallion. She knew herself well enough that she wasn't about to question what her gut told her, she wasn't going to fight it and deny. It was scary, but they were strong together, so she knew she had nothing to be scared of. As she made her way into the barracks and into her office, she closed the door and made her way to the bed, her eyes lingering on the black roses that he had given her only hours before.
It had been a great night.
