Being reduced from a mare of authority and intimidation to just a real, living mare with feelings and who was approachable by most rights, it was a strange feeling for Nightfall. Being set apart from everyone else was something that was common for her, something that she had grown used to. But Aero was different, he treated her like she was a real pony, and didn't treat her by her title. While it was true that she expected to be treated by her title first, it was a refreshing change to be treated like a mare first. She had to think, it was likely why she loved being with Aero so much; he didn't hold her title in front of her like it was all that she was. He treated her like she was an approachable and real living mare.
Pulling the fork back after he had secured the bite, she set the fork down on her now-empty plate and smiled, watching his reaction to the desert. Though, the possibility was really only if he could somehow manage to scrape together enough to go back to the restaurant in his own lifetime. On a non-officer's salary, she wasn't sure that he'd be able to, and she couldn't see him as being anything but military. Nodding at his comment and giving a small chuckle, she spoke lightly, "Well, those barracks haven't really be renovated since your time. They've changed, sure. But mostly aesthetics, it's the same building in most areas. I think the sitting room is new though, but that's all. The Solar barracks are newer, of course they give us the older one. You have a past in the military, and that's where your skills lay. It might not be required in this day and age, but I think history has a way of giving gifts to the current time. Call me a poet, but that's why we call it the present. History gave us the barracks my soldiers use today, and more importantly, history gave me you," she said with a soft blush, setting an idle hoof on the table as she stared at him calmly and contently.
