-Personality Stuff-
Likes: Applejack enjoys her work at Sweet Apple Acres, and has been doing it for most of her life. Applejack also thoroughly enjoys helping others to the best of her abilities, even if it's at her own expense. Competition is very high on her list of things she enjoys, and will always make a point of trying her best to win, feeling that anything short of her own perfection can only let others down. While it goes without saying, Applejack loves her family and her friends, and enjoys making new friends as well. Honesty is quite important to her also, and enjoys it when her friends are flat-out truthful to her. Dishonesty and half-truths only serve to upset Applejack when it comes to her friends.
Dislikes: Though Applejack isn't a sore loser, she can't say that she enjoys losing either. On the same note, cheating is something that Applejack cannot tolerate when it comes to competition. The farm pony absolutely hates letting other ponies down, and will often do anything in her power to prevent that from happening. Again, this will often be at her own expense. On top of that, Applejack can sometimes be extremely hardheaded, and as a result, doesn't often like it when other ponies think that she needs help. Also, she doesn't often enjoy the presence of snobs, though she's learned to make exceptions to that among her friends.
Motivation: Applejack is proud and strong herself, and is driven by her family and her need to keep her family proud. She is dedicated to her work and her family, and spends day after day taking care of her family and her friends. More often then not, she also dedicates herself to helping Ponyville as a whole, when the need arises. She makes sure that she's always there for her friends, for her family, and for the farm.
Strengths: The farm pony quite obviously excels at her duties on the farm. Bucking apples, building equipment, tending to crops and livestock, it's all just a daily thing for her. With such experience with livestock, her skills with a lasso are very notable. With the combined experience of her years of farming, Applejack has become a very athletic pony, with high levels of endurance and equally high levels of both speed and strength. On top of this, she also has notable skills with baking, usually with foods that involve apples in the recipe. While she doesn't often, Applejack is quite capable of playing the fiddle to some extent. Not exactly a notable strength, the farm pony is also quite capable at ice sculpting, and can out-eat any pony. Applejack is also a very diligent pony, and is both a loyal friend and a dependable pony.
Weaknesses/Flaws: Applejack is incredibly stubborn, and equally full of pride. She won't accept help, even if it's quite obvious that she needs it. She is also very quick to rush into a situation head first, even if it may require a more delicate touch. In situations like these, she will often leap before thinking, and can land her in hot water. With this in mind, Applejack is also highly protective of her friends and family. While this is usually a good thing, she can be protective of them and act without thinking, which can wind up blowing a harmless situation into a total nightmare. Applejack is also quite impatient in this sense, and is quick to leap headlong into situations that she may not have the best approach towards. This being said, however, she is also known to let go of her pride and apologize first, even if she wasn't first at fault. This can be categorized as both a weakness and a strength, depending of course on the situation. While lying is not necessarily a good thing, Applejack is incapable of being a convincing liar whenever situations call for it.
Fears: Plain and simple, Applejack fears failure. She believes that her friends, her family and her town all rely on her, and if she fails even the smallest of things, it's failing them. Because of this, she will often push herself to her limits over the most trivial of things. Having her friends or family disappointed in her is a big part of that fear, and she will do anything to make sure they are never disappointed in her.
Overall Persona:
Applejack is one of the most diligent ponies around, very hard working and dependable. She is also an incredibly loyal friend, refusing to let her friends down. The very epitome of positive traits, Applejack is looked up to by many, revered as a common-day hero by many ponies of Ponyville. The farm pony is incredibly friendly and cheerful, and is always eager to meet new ponies whenever they show up. This, coupled with an apparent aptitude for business, has landed her with being the face of Sweet Apple Acres. Ranging her skills from apple bucking all the way to the point of actually selling them, every apple that leaves Sweet Apple Acres has been handled by Applejack at one point or another, and more likely then not, been sold by her at one of her stands. Applejack takes pride in her business, and spends many days in the orchards, tending to the fruits of her trade. While she is now currently the face of Apple farming, she once wanted nothing to do with the farm life. When she was only a filly, she left the simple farm life in exchange for the glorious life of city ponies in Manehatten. While the city life may have been glorious, it wasn't what Applejack had wanted in her life, and found in her heart that she truly belonged back in Ponyville on her farm. It didn't take her long to find her way back to the farm, back to where she truly belonged. She's lived there for years, and has been quite happy with her decision to return.
The farm pony is just that; a farmer at heart. Not afraid to get her hooves dirty by doing the work herself, she is quite happy to be out in the farm doing the jobs that need to get done. Bucking trees, tending to crops, herding and caring for livestock, and even repairing things around the farm are all just in a days work for Applejack. Taking pride in the work that she does was hammered into her in all the years that she spent on the farm, and today is no different then it was three years earlier. Applejack still takes pride in everything that she does, whether that be her farm work, or competing against other ponies. Because of this, she often accepts any challenge that presents itself to her, and will attack it with all her pride behind it. While this can often be a good thing, it will sometimes result in her finding it difficult to admit when she needs help from others, or when she was wrong to begin with. Stubborn as a mule, Applejack can only put aside her pride for the sake of her friends, after plenty of convincing of course.
Though Applejack is primarily focused on farming and the skills revolving around that; including endurance, strength, speed, the ability to herd, and handiness, Applejack also has quite a large selection of unrelated skills up her sleeve. The farm pony is quite experienced with dealing with wild animals, including the dangerous ones that would otherwise seek to harm her and her friends. Applejack has expressed an aptitude for cooking, especially baking dishes that involve apples, and is more then willing to help her friends with a steady supply of cider or baked goods if need be. Applejack has also expressed an extent of skill with the fiddle, though that is only a minor of her selection of skills. When the extremely rare need arises, Applejack is an adept ice sculptor, and will exploit that particular skill for events that call for such high-class decorations. An example of such an occasion is the wedding between Shining Armor and Princess Cadence at Canterlot.
With her obviously expressed sense of honesty among other ponies, being doubted by others is one thing that aggravates her to no end. She is very clearly honest to anypony that knows her, and is nearly incapable of lying well, and gives obvious tells whenever she is actually lying. That being said, there are few situations where she will actually lie, especially with her friends or her family. Her friends and her family are incredibly important to her, and she's always there to support them when they need it. Of her family, she enjoys spending plenty of time with her younger sister, even if that time is spent trying to keep her from doing incredibly reckless things to earn her cutie mark. And of her friends, Rainbow Dash is without question her best friend, and no transgression between the two will go unforgiven. Even in heated competition between the two of them, they are still easily capable of laughing about the situation afterwards, proving that their friendship is built incredibly solidly. Finally, the farm pony is quite down-to-earth and modest, and not at all afraid to get her own hooves dirty. With that comes a keen dislike of anything that strikes her as fancy, snobby or fussy. While she accepts that some ponies like that sort of stuff, she makes a point of being very obvious of her feelings whenever those things get in the way of getting things done.
Applejack is one pony that can always be counted on to do anything for a pony in need. She will never turn a blind eye to a pony's suffering, and will always offer a helping hoof to those who need it. Even so, in all her efforts to try and help out others who need it, she can't help everyone, and more often then not will wind up helping others at her own expense. But, this isn't to say that it would stop her. Even at her own expense, she will do everything that she can to make sure that the ponies who rely on her are always proud of her, and always come out in the clear. And, with her life experiences, coupled with her stubborn attitude and her refusal to give up, there are very few situations that she can't overcome. A brick wall in her way would hinder her just as much as a blade of grass or a puddle of water. And even if her method isn't the cleanest, and that aforementioned brick wall may wind up coming down on top of her, she will always make sure that she gets the job done. As one of the six Elements of Harmony, Applejack claims the title and responsibilities of the Element of Honesty. Though it's self explanatory, Applejack is a very honest pony, and will always be honest to those she meets. Not a single lie will escape her lips, and while the truth can sometimes be hurtful, the truth will out, as it were. Being honest and truthful is the best way to solve problems when it comes to Applejack, and when someone wants the cold hard truth about something, Applejack is the mare to see. That being said, Applejack is also very rarely ever rude or unkind. Even to those who she doesn't agree with, or those who she doesn't really like, she is always kind and thoughtful. It doesn't matter what works of life someone comes from, who they are or what they do, Applejack will always manage to find a sense of understanding and look to build a friendship off of that. That isn't to say that she likes everypony she meets, not at all. But she will at least try to be friendly and understanding.
With all that said, Applejack is truly an idol, filled with a sense of pride and dependability. There isn't a pony she won't help, or a situation she won't try to take on. A pony of physical and mental strength, pride, friendliness, and most importantly, Honesty. Thoughtful, caring and empathetic, Applejack is a strong friend to have at your back, and will never let anypony down.
