(A quick thingy before I start: This is sort of a Canterlot-wide Fireworks celebration over three days, so here's the idea: You can take part in this thread WITHOUT having to tag along with another pony. That means, no post order! Just make sure someone else posts before you post again. If you want to just gallop through the streets with sparklers clenched in your teeth and eating corndogs, that's fine, and if you want to join in on anypony's storyline, that's fine too. So each day will be fun and excitement, and each night will be one of the three big fireworks shows, after which the event will end.)
"I LOVE the smell'a phosphorus in the mornin'," cheered a pegabat with an appropriately explosive mane, leaning out the window of the express train as it heaved into the station. Plumes of steam shot off around the Canterlot station as yet another large load of ponies came in for the festivities. Luggage and crates were being unloaded gingerly by all the porters, as a number of the tourists all had fairly explosive attitudes with regards to the weekend's festivities. It was also for this reason that the Canterlot Brigade of Fireponies was on hoof, just in case anything went off at the wrong time. Similarly, a few psychiatrist ponies were also available for free consolation hugs just in case any projects that had been months in planning went off at the wrong time.
Powderkeg was drinking it all in giddily, as two of her crates were being carefully loaded onto a small wagon. She'd been spending the last month planning, building and testing, as well as building up some stock to sell to the seemingly endless eager faces looking for their own sparkling bit of magic for a fair price. She snapped out her leathery wings and popped up into the air for a moment. The streets were absolutely packed, and even in the daylight you could still make out sparklers zipping along through the streets, and plumes of multicolored smoke snaking up into the air with distinct patterns. Further out towards one of the larger crossways a band could just barely be made out over the crowds, high-tempo swing music with blaring horns and drums serving as an appropriate backdrop.
"Hooooo doggies," said the pegabat pony, coming to rest on top of one of her crates, "good thang we didn't teleport in, might'a ended up becomin' really close friends with somepony new!" She turned towards her companions who were coming off the train, "didn't I tell y'all it was gonna be huge?"
