It was an absolutely gorgeous day in Equestria. The sun was shining brightly, and there were hardly any clouds in the sky. The brilliant blue of the open vastness seemed to illuminate the entirety of the Ponyville market to the point that it hurt Frostling's emerald eyes. He squinted out from the shop window that was located in the side of his home, which happened to be apart of the marketplace. He lifted a hoof to his forehead, below his spiraled horn and frowned. He could feel the heat washing over his face in never ending waves. With a grunt, he turned away from the window and moved back into the cooler inside of his home. He sat down on the black and white checkered floor and looked around at the interior of his humble abode.
It was a quaint little building, small by some standards, but large enough for one stallion to live comfortably. It was two floors, with the bottom of the home occupied almost entirely by the kitchen. With its checkered floors and white-washed walls, it seemed to sparkle with cleanliness. The counters were simple granite with wooden shelving and cabinets decorating the walls. The most predominate thing of the entire kitchen was the open shop window where a counter rested just below the sill. Organized neatly, to the left looking out, were different flavors that varied from chocolate to cotton candy, to cherry and blueberry. To the right was a machine that kept ice frozen with an ice grinder attached in the front. Below the dispenser sat a large white bowl, there to collect the finely broken up ice.
Frostling smiled to himself as he found everything to his fancy. The shop was open and ready for business, as per usual on summer mornings. With everything ready to go, he let out a delighted, but quiet, cry. He was feeling particularly well for it being such a hot day already. He was certain nothing could ruin it for him though, not even the rising temperatures of the season.
After returning to the open window, he peered out and looked along the market. It was already swamped with Ponies of all age and size. Mares. Stallions. Fillies, and colts. It was always interesting to him to see who came out to the market. He wasn't the most social of ponies, so he was content on sitting back and watching the crowds go by. He could probably have called out, announced the opening of his little snow-cone shop, but he preferred to have his voice at the end of the day.
Beginning to hum a simple tune, he called upon his magic and started the snow-cone machine. A soft, baby blue glow seemed to outline the machine as it chirped into motion. The wheels within began to grind at a block of ice, spitting out fine chips into the bowl below. After a moment or so, he lifted the bowl with his magic and shut the machine off. He placed the ice on the counter, carefully. Calling forth a flavored bottle, he furrowed his brow as he debated on what combinations he'd make the batch. Raspberry.
Content with his decision, he poured a small amount from the flavor bottle before setting it aside. He, then, began to mix the ice and flavor around with a wooden spoon. After mixing it to his liking, he set everything aside and looked out the window. Not a single pony turned his way. His ears flattened, but he didn't take it to heart. He was, after all, not shouting over every pony like most of the other marketeers.
Shrugging his shoulders, he scooped some of the flavored ice into a smaller bowl for himself. He used magic to pull a spoon from one of the wooden drawers further in the kitchen and scooped some of the raspberry treat into his mouth. Delighted, he tapped his forehooves on the floor and smiled.
"Mmm~! Perfect!" the white-maned unicorn exclaimed. Nothing like ice cold treats in the dead of summer.
